Handel's Messiah, specifically the version performed by the Philly Orchestra (and Leonard Bernstein) in 1960 and sung by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Lots of other stuff from Bach, Beethoven, Handel . . . etc. Also Christmas hymns.

Certainly one of my favorite Christmas specials. Gotta love Max the dog, but ona serious note I just saw "Mary, Did you know?" on facebook and went to youtube to listen to about 5 different renditions of it. A really beautiful song. I like Kathy Mattea's version best.

My church is hosting our diocese's "Lessons and Carols" this year, this Friday night. There's a quartet of women who are singing "Mary, Did You Know?" and I had the opportunity to hear them practice last Wednesday night. I was somewhat rushed, so I was headed out into the parking lot, but their practice run was so good, I turned around in the doorway and came back in to hear the rest of the song. They were awesome. I'd be singing in "Lessons and Carols," but my second job starts with a vengeance this Wednesday and Friday nights, so I'm going to miss it.

^^^Lovely. A cellist and his accompanist who know how to *breathe.
*breathe - the art of musical phrasing to closely resemble what the human voice is capable of enunciating.

I'm a brass player, therefore my tastes run to that genre, especially at Christmas:
This one is fairly short, but no Christmas season is complete without a taste of Georg Friedrich Händel:

I love the Piano Guys. This is probably one of the best renditions of "Angels We Have Heard on High", over 1000 people including the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and approximately 10,000 hours went into its production.
