Less than a week after ’fessing up that it found some 2,500 documents potentially showing that the IRS shared taxpayer returns with the White House, the Obama administration has reversed course and won’t release the trove to a group suing for access.
In an abrupt decision, the Treasury inspector general’s office said that the documents are covered by privacy and disclosure laws and can’t be provided to Cause of Action, despite a promise last week to hand over some 2,500.

privacy concerns, my ass. They don't want evidence that they are guilty of dirty deeds with IRS records.
More bullshit from the most non-transparent and corrupt administration in history.

Isn't there some way to get a law that prevents this in the future? Why doesn't congress have the authority to get these documents? What's the purpose of having congressional oversight, if they aren't allowed to see anything?

There are laws that prevent the IRS from sharing information with the White House and they broke them. That is why they don't want to release these documents.

Ya know, I'm starting to agree with 0. There isn't "a smidgeon of corruption" in this administration. There's heaping dumptruckloads of it.
Most transparent administration ever, my ass.
