CDC: Circumcision Benefits Outweigh Risks
U.S. health officials on Tuesday released a draft of long-awaited federal guidelines on circumcision, saying medical evidence supports having the procedure done and health insurers should pay for it.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines stop short of telling parent to get their newborn sons circumcised. That is a personal decision that may involve religious or cultural preferences, said the CDC's Dr. Jonathan Mermin.
But "the scientific evidence is clear that the benefits outweigh the risks," added Mermin, who oversees the agency's programs on HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.
These are the first federal guidelines on circumcision, a brief medical procedure that involves cutting away the foreskin around the tip of the penis. Germs can grow underneath the foreskin, and CDC officials say the procedure can lower a male's risk of sexually-transmitted diseases, penile cancer and even urinary tract infections.
The CDC started working on the guidelines about seven years ago, when a cluster of influential studies in Africa indicated circumcision might help stop spread of the AIDS virus.

1. **** that...
It's a genital mutilation practice from the tribal desert days that has survived to the modern era for some reason.
Federal Guidelines on circumcision? But this is different.....it gives some slight protection to liberal whores and queers.
Keep the government out of our pants!
Where's the Horse With No Name primitive when you need her?

53. I would like to see studies that compare circumcision to improved hygiene
or other practices that decrease disease incidence.
Surely there is something less drastic than circumcision that could be done for STD prevention.
Every time I think of it, I mentally thank my late parents for having it done for me.
Just remembered reading a circumcision horror story from just the other day. Seems they screwed one up on a baby boy so bad they gave him a sex change operation because some shrink thought all gender/sex was determined by how the child was raised. At age 9 or 10 after spending his formative years as a girl, they discovered the kid was hard wired as a male and he refused to continue as a girl. He wound up committing suicide at about age 30.
I'm off to see if I can find it again.
Found a video about him....

The DUmp always goes absolute apeshit over circumcision. I think I can imagine why, but I don't know. William769 and Fat Che's Little Brother could confirm, but I'd sooner die than ask.It has something to do with Joooooooos ...

I think homos must like the feel of extra skin. Tickles the anal canal somehow. That must be it. I am quite proud to say that I will never know.
Nah. Muslims are the other big religion that demands it, so that's out. Got to be something else.If Muhammad was not cut then I do not buy that Islam is huge on circumcision, because "What he did /was/would do is everything in Islam.
I was cut as an infant, because every boy was, without even asking the parents, if they were born in a hospital when I was a kid as a matter of course (Though I'm sure my late parents would've been totally on board with it anyway), unless the parents made a specific demand in advance against it and couldn't be talked around by the docs.
I chose not to take the risk of the doc having an "Oopsie" on any of my own boys, they can take their chances on STDs but none of them turned out to live high-risk lifestyles, so I'm comfortable with the choice I made.
