Oh my.
Maybe she should call Babs Boxer about it.
Babs Boxer cares.

Any SSDI experts I need HELP!...
I have been under "review" to see if my condition has improved. I filled out the long question form & mailed it in a timely fashion.
Over a month later I got a certified letter & another (identical) form to fill out. I called & was told they did not receive my original!.
In the course of the call I explained my condition-a major sleep disorder & fibromyalgia. I told him how hard it was to fill out these forms with my hands going numb & cramping. I also detailed my sleep problem that stems from a parotid gland surgery gone awry-it is fairly obvious and in both cases my disability is easily demonstrated.
I sent the other form-priority mail with delivery confirmation.
About 2 weeks later I got a call from SSDI. This time it was a lady apologizing my form had been misplaced. I said great you have 2 now & she confirmed they had received both. She said something about being gone 2 weeks unexpected & had 13 other people to call back. She didn't sound very competent to be honest.
Fast forward 2 more weeks & my SSDI auto pay did not come!. I have a family & of course bills.
3 messages & no return call yet. I am trying my best not to have a panic attack and posting as a stress reliever & possibly some advice may result.
In my online search I believe I can only be cut off without notice if I did not return my paperwork or cooperate. I have done everything I can & told them I'd be happy to be examined or whatever. My disability has not gotten better since a Judge declared me disabled. And my fibromyalgia is markedly worse.
So...
I am calling as soon as they open this AM and try to get a human on the line to get a Supervisor involved. I am hopefully certain this is all just a terrible mistake. But I am in limbo now & any advice or related stories will help...

1. Don't have an answer for you, sorry. Calling is the best thing right now.
Hope they just made a mistake. Please let us know what happens. Good luck.

2. I know not evryone lives close to an SSA office but if possible, go in.
If it is hard for you to fill out forms, they will do it for you. Get a photocopy of the completed form. Remember the name of the person you talked to and note the date and time. If your payment did not arrive, they can give you a special payment. It will work out in the end.
The real problem at SSA is not incompetency or lack of caring. The problem is that resources and personnel have been cut so much that people are overwhelmed and no one knows what the hell is going on any more. I worked for SSA for almost 35 years. I saw our staff go from almost 50 to under 30. All while the workloads were increasing massively.
In my opinion, it is part of a deliberate plan to decrease confidence in the program so they can privatize it. My blood pressure went down 20 points when I retired.
Boxerfan (935 posts) Thu Nov 20, 2014, 11:39 AM
3. Thanks-I found the last certified letter
And it stated they would contact me before payments were stopped. And that did not happen.
So it is a mistake more than likely. But my sleep disorder has me on edge emotionally. It has been over 6 years and the condition is not treatable & stable. I typically get 4 or less hours of sleep a night.. Daytime with coffee is Ok till about 1pm-after that I need to lie down due to fatigue.
And this is really stressful.
If I do have to drive there it is going to be difficult. I avoid heavy traffic areas as I'm prone to go nuts. Older vehicle with bad brakes doesn't help.
I'm sorry about the work situation. Just there has to be some safeguard -this is my family & we can not make it without my benefits.
And if the worker had my personal files out & about so they were missing?? WTF??
Thanks & I'm trying to stay calm-not working but I'm trying.
And the primitives want the same people to run the medical system.....
-

Why don't I see that as a reason for getting SSDI?

I'll bet if the fan of Babs Boxer worked, rather than sat around all day feeling sorry for herself, she'd have no problem at all sleeping at night.

Dime a page at the library, or in that ballpark, how tough would it be for the DUmmie to run a copy of the original and mail that instead of filling out a new form each time? Hell, for about a hundred bucks you can get a multifunction inkjet machine that'll serve as printer, scanner, fax machine, and copier...Hell, the DUmmie probably HAS one, but hasn't figured out she can make copies with it yet.

And you think it "in my best interest" to put my life into the hands of those who could crush it at will? You're weapons grade stupid.

Put your faith in bureaucrats that have enough power to hand it all to you? Don't cry when they decide to take it away.

While fibromyalgia is real, it doesn't mean you have to stop living or being a productive member of society. My 18 year old niece has it. She takes Lyrica. It helps most of the time. It hasn't stopped. She's a costume designer and assistant director for a local theater group. Everyone has a story. You can use it as an excuse to let life defeat you or you can use it as an excuse to stop trying.

Damn it.
I'd be lost without the nadin machine.
Fibromyalgia (FM or FMS) is characterised by chronic widespread pain and allodynia (a heightened and painful response to pressure). Fibromyalgia symptoms are not restricted to pain, leading to the use of the alternative term fibromyalgia syndrome for the condition.
Other symptoms include debilitating fatigue, sleep disturbance, and joint stiffness. Some people also report difficulty with swallowing, bowel and bladder abnormalities, numbness and tingling, and cognitive dysfunction. Fibromyalgia is frequently associated with psychiatric conditions such as depression and anxiety and stress-related disorders such as posttraumatic stress disorder. Not all people with fibromyalgia experience all associated symptoms.
-
Mrs. Diesel suffers from it as well, but is allergic to Lyrica. Still, she tries to do whatever she can around the house.
She is on disability, not from fibro, but from too many years as an EMT, pulling doped out DUmbasses from car wreaks. 2 failed back surgeries, and a hip replacement later, she does more in her sleep than a DUmmie can do in a lifetime.
-

I must have it and didn't even know it. Oh wait, it's called having a job and working overtime when needed. Phew, no need for drugs except for some ibuprofen now and then.

You know, surely this condition's existed since the dawn of mankind.
One's left wondering how the Hell our ancestors managed to lead long, productive lives despite it.
-
Commas are important things, sir. For instance, did you mean THIS:
3 or 4 shots of vodka, an hour before bedtime should solve that problem quite nicely.
(indicating one, single 3-4 round burst, one hour before bedtime)
...or, were you intending something more along the lines of THIS:
3 or 4 shots of vodka an hour, before bedtime should solve that problem quite nicely.
(suggesting something more Pitt-ian in nature, involving several hours and potentially at least one bottle)

No shit. This just pisses me off. Y'all know my back problems yet I get less than 5 hours sleep a night and get up at 3:30 every morning to go to work. I still wouldn't take disability because I'm not gonna rely on someone else (govt) to make my life. Look how she's running around like a rat looking for cheese.
-
From personal experience as someone with fibromyalgia and sleep issues (they go together), I'd suggest this DUmmie go through a sleep study to see if sleep apnea is an issue. If so, it can be treated.

These are primitives we are talking about. It isn't so much that they let life defeat them as they see a way on to a life of not having to engage in the dull drudgery of work. Then again, if you listen closely enough, most of them have never really lived.

My wife has fibromyalgia, but she still drives 1hour to work, works a full day as a Speech Language Pathologist, then comes home. I've seen days where she can barely get out of bed, but she still does it.
Its not fibro that is bogus, it's people thinking they can make money off of a 'disability' that is bogus.

4. I had a very nice 1/2 doobie disappear-before I could offer it as sacrament...
I thought to myself after I broke it open I should offer some herbs to show respect. I looked into my top pocket where I had just minutes ago put the better 1/2 of a large doobie of very nice herb-it was gone.
That's Ok as I was going to offer it up anyhow. But it really did just go Poof-gone. It's not a large beach & I checked the area I had covered before finding the pot & it was gone.
I still had my carry pipe & blew some smoke over the area I broke the pot. And I did find some more modern coins-all sooted from a fire. I discarded the modern coins with the remnants. But the dollar was far too intriguing to leave due to superstition. But alas-a modern fake & plated steel-not even a good fake.
But whomever made the item put a lot of work in it. And I did want to respect that-but it was just not something I wanted to re-bury.

I find it interesting that you quoted an almost 7 year old NYT hit-piece on "Big Pharma" to make your point. It almost looks like the very doctor that wrote the diagnostics has walked away from it entirely, if one were to take the carefully selected quotes Alex Berenson used to fit his news article to his own template.
Reality, however, is a bit different.
As to the question of whether or not fibromyalgia is a real condition or a diagnosis for chronic malingerers, I submit these quotes which are a little more recent:
Is Fibromyalgia Real or Imagined?
Written by Kristeen Cherney | Published on April 11, 2014
Medically Reviewed by George Krucik, MD, MBA on April 11, 2014
Fibromyalgia is an established medical condition marked by excessive fatigue and chronic pain. According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), it affects about one out of 50 Americans.
Fibromyalgia isn’t imaginary, but it may be mistaken for other underlying causes with similar symptoms, such as depression.
Just because there’s no cure doesn’t mean that fibromyalgia is an imagined condition.

Fibromyalgia misconceptions: Interview with a Mayo Clinic expert
By Mayo Clinic Staff
Jul. 12, 2012
In this interview, Connie A. Luedtke, R.N., the nursing supervisor of the Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Clinic at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn., discusses some common misconceptions about fibromyalgia.
The top misconception is that people think fibromyalgia isn't a real medical problem or that it is "all in your head." It's sometimes thought of as a "garbage-can diagnosis" — if doctors can't find anything else wrong with you, they say you have fibromyalgia.
There's a lot that's unknown about fibromyalgia, but researchers have learned more about it in just the past few years.
http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/fibromyalgia/in-depth/fibromyalgia/art-20048097
And what of the good Doctor? Does he think it's all a bunch of hooey? If he does, it would be awfully odd of him to be speaking of tweaking the diagnostics in 2010 (http://www.news-medical.net/news/20130322/Fibromyalgia-an-interview-with-Dr-Frederick-Wolfe-University-of-Kansas-School-of-Medicine.aspx). But, if that doesn't satisfy you, feel free to peruse his own words (http://www.fmperplex.com/author/fredwolfe/) on the Fibromyalgia Perplex as he speaks to, and defends, his own work.
Bottom line? This does not excuse the behavior of layabout DUmmies, but it does put the absolute that "fibromyalgia is also commonly referred to as a bogus condition, like fatigue syndrome, made up to get approved for government checks" in a bit of a different light. Especially considering the testimony of members of this board.
-
Same is really true of Asperger's Syndrome or Spectrum disorders too. Just because the DUmmtards and various freeloaders use it as an excuse doesn't mean it isn't a real thing. It is, unfortunately, a problem where the diagnosis is pretty subjective and not determinable through a simple biochemical test, so the welfare-sucking Libtard fraudsters screw it up for the real sufferers.
-

This is what irks me about the primitive attitude (but not the attitude of decent and civilized people): I have problems, big problems. Seriously.
Emotionally, intellectually, physically. Big problems, life-hindering problems.
It doesn't pain me to admit it; it's a natural consequence of the birth defect and the consequent deafness.
But somehow I seem to be able to function, to work for a living, to pay my own way.
