I fired a client I've had for 20 yrs this week ( a 1%er)

Look, I expect a certain amount of "let um eat cake" from the wealthier clients. Pretty much all of them are offended by being expected to pay anyone for anything. They all have this disgusting sense of entitlement. But there comes a point when someone is just so putrid it's embarrassing to be in any way associated with them.

He's the last of my 1%er clients to be fired within the last 5 years and done after he spouted off about how great China is that they don't let pesky things like human rights or the environment get in the way of building high speed rail. He'd love it if we could be them and the undeserving masses of America could be slaves living in squalor while he could speed past at 300 mph in luxury comfort. The rant was breathtaking in it's boldness. He didn't make any effort at all to even so much as phrase his hatred of the non-1% in any sort of palatable terms. The man is clearly in full love and worship of of "Communist China".

I am posting this because I want everyone to understand that the outsourcing of decent American jobs to slave labor countries is not just about rich people's greed for more profit. There is so much more to that dynamic than money and a callous disregard for other humans. For many of them, there is a perverse joy that comes from seeing their servant's suffering.

When we fight for economic justice we have to keep this in mind. Our parents and grandparents in the early days of unionization fought hard for worker rights that are being dismantled. Not just to push wages down but to retrain the younger workers not to ask too much. Not to expect too much.... to just be grateful some 1% cares enough to be abusive to them kind of twisted thinking.

That is much of our battle. To make sure all workers everywhere understand their value and expect to be treated fairly and with respect.

What probably happened...Ms. Bluegrass was spouting off to a paying client about how Mitch McConnell stole the election from Alison Grimes, and how sick she is of the 1% stealing elections and running the country into the ground, and her client decided he wanted to take his business elsewhere.

The truth:

KentuckyWoman works in a Louisville whorehouse. Her regular Saturday night thing, a Teamster from Cleveland, got tired of her scabby, flabby  old ass and asked for some fresh trim- and he wanted Asian.

She said that she's a union hooker, and has seniority, so he had to honor that.

The john told her to **** off. She threw an ashtray at him, so he left and went to a Chinese handjob shop instead.  Her pimp beat the shit out of her for driving away business.

She tells that story as "firing a 1%er client" for "outsourcing to China".

Both of you fine newbies deserve ^5s for bringing this steaming pile of projection and falsity over.

That said, here are posts of kentucky"woman" in which she betrays some sort of ongoing emotional problem with rich people:

The heart and mind of a 1%er. It ain't pretty.
If you get close enough to an actual 1%er it may take a little time to see the putrid swill that has replaced the human soul. I've spent years working closely with them and it's not for the faint of heart.

Oh sure, there's quite a few "good ones" .... but let's face it, if the majority of 1%ers were all Warren Buffets and George Clooneys we would never have needed Unions in the first place or "occupy" anything.

This is a group that overall not only wants all the candy for themselves but actually ENJOYS the idea that everyone else is starving to death, desperate and crawling to them begging for a scrap of bread.

All my life we've been trying to legislate these parasites into playing fair. You cannot legislate this. It's like fighting roaches in an apartment building. Get them out of one apartment and they just go to another. They will figure out some other way to suck off the labor of workers.

The absolute only way to get anything for workers is to bond as a mass and demand it. Washington DC won't do it. Your state won't do it. YOU and YOUR NEIGHBORS and YOUR COUNTRYMEN have to do it. One giant mass **** YOU is about all that will create change.

Don't buy their slave made shit.
Don't shop at their slave labor stores.
Don't feed the beast by taking on debt.
If you are stuck working for a slave labor type employer give them only a fair work for whatever they pay you and do everything you can to get out of that situation.

Consume less and buy fair labor made goods from sources that treat workers fairly.

Talk it, walk it, live it. Loudly or quietly I don't care but only as a mass are we going to make any change.

1%er mentality. - This is war.
In the 70's my Dad got fired from the best job he ever had. The company let go the last 4 people they hired and blamed it on the quotas. Dad begged to keep his job. He had 6 kids at home. He was told to go paint his face black and come back.

Black people were his enemy he was told. But the truth was the company could hire 4 black men for a fraction of what they paid a white man. It's the reason why the 1%ers allowed those laws to get passed in the first place. So they could cut labor costs and blame someone else (Uncle Sam).

In the 80's about everyone knew was either working for a large manufacturing company or a small time supplier. Factories were closing almost every day it seemed. Unions were blamed. "Lazy workers" were told to grab a bootstrap and go to college.... The 1%ers got a twofer out of this deal. Not only did they force down wages for everyone but they also sucked huge amounts of wealth out of people trying to pay for college.

In the 90's they killed off pensions and benefits. They blamed their own "greedy lazy workers". They dangled 401K and IRA in our faces. "look see you will get to keep this money even after you die" they said. And so they shifted the cost of supporting used up workers to the individual. Then they bought off the government and got the regulations killed off. And they laughed all the way to the bank.

We were getting wise to them. Finally..... just about the time 9-11-2001 showed up. Now it is full on open season on workers. Every week there's another group to blame for our troubles. We've covered everyone from unions to gays to the Arabs to the Mexicans to the blacks and even the lily white soccer moms. And while we squabble over the little bits they allow us to split between us, the 1% walks away with the lions share.

And as if all this were not enough now they think they can dictate what medical care the women who work for them can receive, or who can marry whom, or what I am permitted to say on the internet from my home computer to my own family and friends, or even whether or not I eat bacon and donuts for breakfast.

We are at war. The Reaganites types who still believe "he with the most toys wins" are the enemies of the rest of us. I don't know how we beat them but if we do not I firmly believe it will be the end of the USA in any form we know it.

We somehow, someway, need to figure out how to quit squabbling with each other over the scraps, and remember who the real enemy is.

I post this now because the run up to November is full on. Work to get real progressives in office. Work to get the Democrats who think bedding down with the 1% is somehow needed to stop doing so.

Thank you for reading.

Tomorrow I might feel differently but today I hope every single one of you 1%er jerks who feel that way get your comeupance times 1000 in this world and in the next.

4. Out of business.

The US government let the elite who own every damn thing take the jobs to slave labor countries rather than honor the fair compensation packages American workers fought, bled and died for.

There is not one single foreign label in my closet. When it has come to repairs getting elastic etc made in USA has been quite a challenge. Thank God for Google. It has taken some work but so far I can say no textiles in my house are foreign.

My things are getting so old, and fixed so many times that replacements are becoming necessary. The shoes have proved to be the most difficult - but so far so good.

Support Union American workers.

Which stands alongside this:

50. My income at the moment is almost zero. But that was my choice. Tue Jan 28, 2014, 09:55 PM

in 2008 my corporate employer in Cincinnati said 30% pay cut to keep your job. I was a key person in a big department and told corporate to go suck it. And I mean I said, in front of 200 workers in the meeting, "If you think I'm going to do twice as much work for 30% less money so CEO (said his name) and Stockholders (named 5 names) who own 92% of the stock can shovel more profit into their own pockets then you can go suck it."

And I left the meeting, went to my desk, gather my crap and walked out. Shocked the daylights out of every co-worker and supervisor who knew me. I'm not a rablerouser.

Took a job with a small accounting office back in eastern Kentucky for the same money as the pay cut job in the city. Live in the house my grandpa built with his own hands in a super small town where everybody knows everybody's business.... which is good and bad.

Eventually I told that employer to go get bent as well because of abuse of lower level employees. Same type deal, owners offended by the idea a hard working employee wants a share of the wealth they help create.

So it's no just you. It's everywhere.

But then there is this:

Your example is someone generated 40 mil in profits and got to keep 4. Not 40 mil in SALES but profits. So you tell me what do you think is so fair about working your ass off and 90% of the wealth you create goes to someone else.

That's horseshit. I own my business. We gross 4-6 mil a year have an open wage policy. Part of the profits go back into the business but most go back to employees. Even at this low level I can promise you no one who works for me is idiotic enough to sit by and put up with me sitting on my butt taking 90% of the fruits of their labor. Anyone who can generate 40 mil in pure PROFIT is going to tell an employer to put up or go get bent. As well they should and proves my point exactly.

All of which goes to prove the CC/CU adage from WAY back:

DUMMIES LIE. ALL THE TIME, THEY LIE.

Got into a Fight With a Giant Freeper Today, Had to Kill Him

So I was walking around today, spreading progressive cheer, when this enormous freepwad showed up in his Hummer and started pushing people around. Now,
I go about 5'6", and this asshole was almost ten feet tall, no joke. He thought he could do whatever he wanted, and all of the sudden all of the people
around me were like, dude, you're our leader, so do something. So I just happened to have my sling with me. While I admit this giant freeper got in a blow or two,
I exploited his Republican oafishness by putting a stone in my sling and knocking it right off his enormous ugly head. Knocked his 'No Fat Chicks' trucker hat
right off. And then he died. Someone brought over his Hummer keys, thinking I'd want it as a prize, but I said no, disassemble that, sell it for parts, and use
the proceeds to buy weed for my people.

I did keep his Truck Nutz, though.

Let that be a lesson to all of you ten foot tall Republicans. The tide is turning! You're all toast!

23. It's easy. You just refuse to take on any more work from them.

I've done it a number of times, usually before I even accept the first job. I research all of my clients before contracting with them for projects. I've said, "Sorry, no thanks." many times.

Quote
MineralMan (68,747 posts)    Sun Nov 16, 2014, 02:22 PM

43. I don't have to say "I'm sorry." You're right.

But, I don't say "I'm all booked up," because I'm not. I've turned down contracts when I really needed the money. Normally, clients I turn down don't actually ask me why. If they, do, I'll tell them why. I suspect that most of them already know.

I write the content of complete new websites for small to mid-sized businesses. I work with a single web designer most of the time. If I refuse the job, he refuses the job. In fact, he relies on my to do the research on potential clients and trusts me to get it right. Here are some typical clients with whom I will not work:

Pornography websites
Right Wing or even Republican political websites
Bogus alternative medical websites
Websites for any business that uses predatory marketing tactics
Websites for businesses owned by people who have multiple court judgments against them. I pay the $25 for a search
Websites that are in an illegal business
Payday lenders
Aggressive mortgage brokers
Religious websites (I'm an atheist and won't write that stuff)
Websites for any business that exploits anyone, from customers to employees (I research this carefully on a range of websites)
Websites for any business that makes me feel icky somehow
Websites for anyone who I meet and who looks like he or she will be a PITA to work with.
Other websites I simply don't want to write

I don't have to turn down many contracts, but there have been a number of them over time.

2Skins answered them, "Take out the gold nose rings and jewelry that your civil union partners are wearing, and pawn them for me."  3So all of the primitves took off their jewelry, hocked it, and donated the money to Skins. 4He took what they donated to him and made it into a website in the shape of an island, fashioning it for fools.  Then they said, "This is our god, fellow primitives, who will bring us out of reality."

5When Skins saw this, he put a donation tab on the island and announced, "Tomorrow will be a Valentine's Heart campaign for my vacation."  6So the next day the primitives rose really late in the day and sacrificed hippie lettuce in burnt offerings and presented their aborted babies in fellowship offerings.  Afterwards, they sat down to get blazed again, and indulge in "revelry".

7Then, out of nowhere, Nadin (who used to be the primitives' Moses) said to Minnesota Moses, "While you were out pitching your tent one day closer to the mausoleum, the primitives, whom you had nearly bored to death with your ridiculous soap-box preaching, have turned away from what I, Nadin, had commanded them and continue to inhabit the island that is for fools."  They have donated money to it, and have said, "This is our god, fellow primitives, who has brought us out of reality."

But Minnesota Moses sought the favor of the Nadin.  "Nads," he said, "Why should you live in exile from the primitives, whom you brought through earthquakes with great powdered milk and your shiny bald head?"

(to be continued, time allotting)

Well, if her line of work is anything like MineralMan's, I'm sure the client can find someone better who works cheaper with a lot of effort...it could take as long as two whole minutes to do a web search and look at the first three hits.

As well they should and proves my point exactly.

yeah right

24. Meaningful

When a good hard worker, widowed and doing everything she can to keep 2 teen boys out of trouble and headed for college. She was well respected by coworkers and me, hrr immediate boss. She got fired for daring to ask for a 50 cent raise and I'm still so mad it's hard to stick to no violence. I needed to rant.

Thankfully the lives affected by similar job creators in this country are idiotic and meaningless enough to earn your kick.

Thankfully us bosses blanketed the locals until we found a job opening...she'll make a buck more an hour starting tomorrow. I quit over it ... just can't work for those ****ers.

Buffett doesn't rub our faces in it , which helps him on personal likability, but he's no angel. The company I recently quit working for used to do business with one of his. Only customer we ever fired because they were so abusive to vendors. Crap on the smaller guy while in the media yapping about fairness.....

It's official. I've created more middle class jobs than Mitch McConnell

A few months ago I told my employer to go get weighed over their economic abuse to their employees.

I already had the purchase of a local business in the works. Remodel is done. I've hired a total of 13 people in the last 2 weeks - hoping to keep 10 but all 13 if they work out. Lowest pay is $15 an hour for the couple of part timers. Average is $19. That's pretty good money out here in eastern Kentucky.

One of my vendors say they had to add on 2 more staff because of our account. Another one has hired a part timer because of our account.

Not to mention the construction guys who did our build out and the local businesses who will benefit from our foot traffic right in town.

We did it without tax abatements, government subsidies or hand outs (other than the norm of good roads, reliable utilities, education for the kids etc)

By contrast Mitch's policies have put 100's of 1000's in Kentucky out of work and pushed lots more middle class workers down below the middle class.

Don't pat me on the back - that's not why I'm posting. This was not that hard. Any moron can do what I'm doing if they have the will. My reason for posting is to contrast the fact Mitch is a cancer.

Somehow she quit a job last fall, opened a new business at the same time and is making 4 million a year and firing vendors she's had for 20 years.  Quite a story.

No, no. Went from Zip - Zero - Nada in February to $4 mil PROFIT today. Either its business has one heck of a profit margin, or her rolodex is solid gold. Or maybe it's blowing smoke out of its ass.

9 months, that's pretty good. Last million I made took 3 years. And that was in the stock market. Thank you APPLE.

I think this was the plot for a spinoff series from Justified. FX was going to call it Unbalanced.

If she really told her previous employer to "suck it" then she would have trouble ever finding a job in her field again.  This dummy must love to tell bouncies.

This Dummy is guilty of discriminating against others.  If Christian bakers/Christian photographers/Christian ministers are forced to violate their deeply held religious beliefs, or be fined, shouldn't this Dummy be forced to violate his ridiculous Dummy beliefs as well.

So an employer would fire someone asking for a raise rather than saying no? What did she do, throw a tantrum on the floor or piss in his coffee?

You know, sir, that's a damned good point.

If the owners of a bakery are compelled to make a "wedding" cake to celebrate a gay "marriage" despite that it goes against their personal morals, then the mineralheaded Minnesota Moses should be compelled to design websites for groups and individuals who go against his personal morals.

I think this needs hammered in.  It's a damned good point.

Agreed, this bouncy involves DUmmy Time Travel, which is made possible by the distortions in gravity caused by their sheer stupidity, their need for attention, and, as in Interstellar, their proximity to enormous masses (looking at you, LynneSin). I think there is probably a germ of truth in all these stories, but the one in which she's the owner of a 250K/500K per month business probably means she sold a couple of dreamcatchers to furtive lesbians at a swap meet. The rest, where she is an hourly worker, is probably true but her episodes of Truth to Power are of course part of a proud DUmmy canon of failure and frustration.

Yeah.  To the extent there is any truth to the story at all, there has to be a whole other side of that story, which the Greatest Business Magnate of Eastern Kentucky is omitting.

Dummies never see the consequences of their fascist policies.
If one business owner can be forced to bake a gay wedding cake, then Minnesota Moses can be forced to create a website promoting the Koch brothers.
It's all good when Christians are forced to violate their beliefs, but just wait until it's a Dummy.
