what's for dinner, election day edition - tuesday, nov. 4th

i'm thinking about roasted acorn squash stuffed with brown rice, caramelized onions and walnuts. i'll top it with parm and toss it under the broiler until brown. either salt caramel gelato or lemon sorbet for dessert. i'll pick up some beer on the way home for celebration (i hope) or to drown my sorrows (please gods, no).

I hope she didn't forget the dope too.

3. I'm going with grilled lamb chops

Definitely steamed green beans. Not sure what else yet.

I'm gonna trek to the local Costco and see what's there. I haven't visited in a couple of months, and I finally ate through my freezer (needed a turnover before I shopped s'more.)

4. round steak with onion gravy

Got it in the crock pot this morning after I got back from voting. The gravy is still a bit on the thin side, but with another 3+ hours to go, it should thicken up enough.

5. A lamb chop.

The last of the rice and carrots from Sunday.

6. Crostata filled with chard, leek and ricotta

I saw Lydia Bastanich do this on TV and have been wanting to try it.

Quote
A crostata is an Italianate baked tart and a form of pie. It has been known by various names throughout Italy, including coppi in Naples and sfogliate in Lombardy. Historically, it also referred to an "open-faced sandwich or canapé" because of its crusted appearance, or also a chewet, a type of meat pie.

7. I saw that show!

I like watching Lidia. RG works with her company (and thus her son), though, and says they are, ummm, shall we say, very conservative financially. I want to go to Eataly in NYC. Can you believe I've never seen the place?

Veal stew with mushrooms. Brussels sprouts. Dessert might be more tres leche poundcake.

I don't see humble pie anywhere in that thread.

Whatever it was it made them all sick.

I don't see humble pie anywhere in that thread.

But this thread's from last evening, before the good guys won.

Nobody's started a "what's for supper thread" for today yet.

You are right.  I misread the OP timestamp as 11:07PM.

I have renewed hope to see humble pie on tonight's "what's for supper thread", then.

She bought the dope first.

That's why there's no meat on the menu.

Come to think of it, when looking at the "little" forums, instead of the cooking and baking forum, I should've checked out the mental health forum, to see how the crazies are handling the election returns.

Too late now, though.

I remain hopeful that a side effect of yesterday's election results will be growth in that forum of leaps and bounds.

Oh, bullshit. Koala bears don't caramelize onions or use the broiler. They munch eucalyptus leaves and fall asleep.

The truth: fizzy drives past a weed shop and a 7-Eleven on her way home from work. Supper at the fizz house will be a quarter ounce of cheap weed, a bag of Cheetos, and a microwave burrito- if Mr. fizz is lucky.

If the primitives are smart, they'll spend more time in the other forums on Skin's Island instead of dwelling on their crushing and bruising defeat.  It makes rowing threads back over to the DUmpster a lot easier.

If Mr. Fizz is lucky, she'll pass out before bed time.

Same here.

Maybe they could print out some of their posts and eat their words.
