Title: The '90s called. They want their meme back.. Antarctic Ozone Hole
Post by: miskie on November 01, 2014, 09:58:42 AM
Whats an Warmist Ecotard to do when both of the poles are stubbornly freezing over, and places across America are already reporting cold and snow earlier than usual ? Retread an old tire ! In this case, its the hole in the ozone layer.. This thread hasn't caught on yet, but only time will tell if it becomes a 'new' rallying cry.    http://www.democraticunderground.com/112777122

Antarctic Ozone Hole Still About Size Of N. America; Essentially Unchanged Over Last Four Years

The Antarctic ozone hole, which was expected to reduce in size swiftly when manmade chlorine emissions were outlawed 27 years ago, is stubbornly remaining the size of North America, new data from NASA suggests.

The hole in the thin layer of gas, which helps shield life on Earth from potentially harmful ultraviolet solar radiation that can cause skin cancers, grows and contracts throughout the year but reached its maximum extent on 9 September when monitors at the south pole showed it to cover 24.1m square km (9.3m sq miles). This is about 9% below the record maximum in 2000 but almost the same as in 2010, 2012 and 2013. But scientists remain unsure why the hole has not reduced more since the Montreal Protocol agreement was signed by countries in 1987.

This global treaty is considered one of the world’s most successful, having been pushed through in record time. It bans the use of ozone-depleting chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), substances that were widely-used in household and industrial products such as refrigerators, spray cans, insulation foam and fire suppressants.

“The ozone hole area is smaller than what we saw in the late-1990s and early 2000s, and we know that chlorine levels are decreasing. However, we are still uncertain about whether a long-term Antarctic stratospheric temperature warming might be reducing this ozone depletion,” said Paul A Newman, chief scientist for atmospheres at Nasa’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.

Notice the bolded part..

This ecotard has inversely related the ozone layer to global warming.

More warming = less hole.
Less warming = more hole.

What this equals for the rest of us is endless "crisis".

I haven't heard about the ozone hole in so long, I assumed it had filled in.

In other words, it's smaller than it was when we first found it and started talking about it.

But still, there's no question it's another huge danger to mankind, caused entirely by the Americans' lifestyle and insufficient taxes.

Speaking of the ozone hole scam, whatever happened to acid rain?

Whatever happened to weather extremes caused by El Nino and La Nina?

I have a hard time keeping track of all these American threats to life on Earth.

Maybe everything has been folded into the global warming scam, or maybe it's all part of the chemtrail conspiracy.

I suspect that the article is a trial balloon for the next excuse. I believe it will read something like "The only reason the earf isn't a hundred ellebenty degrees is cuz the heat is escaping out of the hole in the ozone layer !!!!111one!111!"

I think the only way we can fix the hole in the ozone is to ship all of the primitives to Antarctica (preferably during winter) with spray bottles full of vinegar, and let them squirt furiously at the thing.

Launch them en masse into the upper atmosphere, where they can fix the ozone hole up close...without parachute recovery systems.

I haven't heard yet, but are they blaming ebola on glowbull warming?

Well, if we are going to launch primitives into the upper atmosphere, I would suggest starting with one of the bigger primitives, and simply plug the hole with their person.

Just yesterday PBS devoted a whole hour to how this problem had been solved. Consumers had quit buying spray cans of everything and this forced RR to do the right thing and push thru a treaty on aerosols. Ten they explained how Gaia had healed herself.

I do recall seeing something about that.
Sorry, no link.

If it hasn't happened yet, it will eventually. :p
