Kit Kittredge: An American Girl
For those of you who don't know about "American Girl (http://www.americangirl.com/agcn/index.html)" dolls, each of their dolls are based on girls from various periods of American history. You can buy books and accessories for the period of your doll. My daughter was getting past the "American Girls" craze and it wasn't "cool" to be "into" it any longer. Yet she wanted to see this movie and I didn't but I have sat through so many sucky movies for my kids that I am numb to them by now.
I was surprised to find that I actually enjoyed this movie. It was both entertaining and educational. It was set during the depression and Kit wanted desperately to be a reporter. Her father loses his car dealership and goes to Chicago to find a job. Her mother has to take in borders and mayhem ensues. She writes about it in a series of articles and wants to get it published. Of course there is a happy ending and that is all I am going to tell for those of you who want to see the movie. It was a good movie that didn't suck to sit through. I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars for a kid movie.

I liked the American Girl stories when I was a kid. There was only 3 girls back then. I had the books, but never a doll.

Why oh why must you remind me how old I am by saying things like this. You enjoy it....don't you? :(

I didn't even think of that.

I might have to go see this movie. Comedy movie is already checked off my summer list (Get Smart), and my action movie isn't here yet (The Dark Knight). So a good family movie (since Wall-E is not being considered) is my next choice.
I loved the books as a child as well, but never had the dolls, either.
Thanks for posting a review. :)

What Freedumb posted. Sorry. I'll slink away in shame for profaning a "G" rated movie review thread now. :(

Well, we need to keep this G rated:

I want to see it because Chris O'Donnell plays her dad, and he's a cutie.
