So, this is the way DU works?
This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by etherealtruth (a host of the Politics 2014 forum).
The San Diego political climate is intensely homophobic, and Carl DeMaio has had entirely false charges thrown at him in each of two political campaigns. Each time, the accuser has been revealed as thoroughly dishonest and motivated entirely by political cutthroat motives. DeMaio is a decent man who is in a long term, stable relationship, and no proof other than unsubstanstainiated scurrilous accusations from political assasins has ever been offered.
So posters at Democratic Underground echo, repeat and amplify these scurrilous, false ad hominem attacks, and when I call them out as being what they are my post is deleted by a jury without me being allowed to defend myself, reword my post, or offer any explanation of why I made it. What is "democratic" about that?
Being of a Democratic inclination, I do not vote for DeMaio, but I despize the personal attacks on character that is becoming more and more typical of our political process. Apparently the Democratic Underground is fully supportive of such slimy process in the name of "democracy."

1. I am afraid that the DU Jury System is a failed experiment.
I feel this way without having seen what you posted, which may or may not have been in violation of the rules.
But I do know that a number of jury rulings are personal, or because the particular jury is biased and not following the mandate that they rule according to DU rules.
Sorry.

2. Why does that equal "the way DU works?"
It's really just the way one jury worked.
Maybe they thought you called a fellow DUer a homophobe?

3. DeMaio is emphatically not a good man
DeMaio made his name with flat out lies. For example, he constantly would spout off figures illustrating what he contended was obscene waste by the city. For example, one of his favorites was to talk about firemen in the city whose salaries were $300k+. The number he chose changed every time he said it and he said it a lot, like dozens or even hundreds of times in ads, interviews and speeches. Except it turned out that nobody in the fire department was actually paid more than $100k. Some of the firemen are engineers and whatnot with 40 years of experience and still get paid very little. They do it because they care deeply about helping people. Turns out, DeMaio was just making up whatever he thought would drive donations and saying that. The end result of his lies is that the firemen got their compensation slashed even deeper for no reason whatsoever except to propel DeMaio's ambitions.
His whole career has been like that. Lie after lie after lie that always hurt others for his own political gain. He's a vicious, dishonest, stupid, pig. A Rush Limbaugh type. Electing him to the House would be an obscenely stupid mistake.

4. I don't know that I completely disagree with you.
Although your final paragraph is a little over the top. I don't really like name-calling. But that does not justify attacks of "I saw him masturbating in front of me" and such. Attack him on his policies and politics, yes, but not on lies surrounding the fact that he is gay.

6. I am sorry, I am LOCKING this thread
Please note the SOP for this forum does not allow "whining about DU." the hosts would like to suggest that you post your concerns in the Ask the Administrators forum.
Thank you for your understanding
Statement of Purpose
A forum for general discussion of United States politics, campaigns, and elections, at all levels of government in 2014 and beyond. No posts about Israel/Palestine, religion, guns, showbiz, or sports unless there is really big news. No conspiracy theories. No whining about DU.
I had no idea who this guy is, so nadined him:
Carl DeMaio (born September 14, 1974 in Dubuque, Iowa) is a Republican politician living in San Diego, California. DeMaio is a candidate for California's 52nd congressional district in the November 4, 2014 election. He is challenging one-term incumbent Scott Peters. The race is identified as a toss-up by RealClearPolitics and The Cook Political Report as of October 2014.

1. I am afraid that the DU Jury System is a failed experiment.
But it is exactly what you want - rule by random, "democratic" committee which is overseen by a small, all powerful cabal. How can it be a failure at the DUmp when it's what you want for America, DUmbass?
