Happy raping, murdering, enslaving, genocidal pedophile day!
H/T Boing Boing for these apt descriptions of Christopher Columbus. As well as this toon by The Oatmeal that shows the REAL Christopher Columbus that is censored from American schools. No one DARE portray Columbus other than a brave explorer who made America America.

Then realized I was looking at the DUmp.

Well, if the alpine primitive feels so strongly about this, why doesn't the alpine primitive go back to where its ancestors came from--but before departing, signing over all real-estate to a Native American.

Actually if I remember history correctly Columbus never actually landed in America but somewhere in Haiti thinking it was India.

He landed on San Salvador.  The Florida panhandle is a thousand miles west of where he landed.

There were a lot of 15th century explorers.  Why do they blame everything on Columbus?  I'm glad they were Christian colonizers and not Muzzie ones.

You ever think that maybe the Spanish pushed the Indians so hard to accept Christianity for that very reason. Remember they were more or less fresh from the brutal domination of the Muslims. If it weren't for that, they probably wouldn't have cared how the Indians worshipped.

That is an interesting thought.  I think it's worth exploring, myself.

Another part of that could have been that most of the local indian tribes were at war with each other, also.

Good point.  That was during the time the Ottoman Empire was expanding.
