I'm sure that by now everybody knows to what this refers.

"an open letter to mopinko"
http://conservativecave.com/index.php?topic=98511.0
I'm probably in the minority here, but i think "utility" is more important than "aesthetics;" if she's doing something productive with her land, it's all good.
Now, while one feels for Big Mo, she has to realize she's responsible for her own wretchedness, as referred to in the "open letter." If she did some thinking before she "x"ed the boxes on her ballot, she might not be enduring this.

Mopinko is a DUmbass, and therefore as wrong as a wee li'l body could be. It ain't something she necessarily strives for (that would require effodt, after all) but there it is, all the same.

I've got no issue with an "urban garden" as it is her land, but if you're going to do that you need to keep the place up, and the pics look like she doesn't really care for the lot as she should. She's in a cash-strapped big city and an easy target. I don't know that they'll shut her down, but of the violations cited she's going to have to deal with several of them (others will be dropped) before she'll be allowed to continue. Then the city will have her on record as being cited and her recognizing it and falling into compliance (if she does). This won't be the end of it. They'll be back.
Look, somebody in the neighborhood or someone who owns property nearby complained. And that someone probably has enough clout with the city to get her garden eventually removed if they want to do so. There's aren't enough kook bumper stickers she can put on a car to save her from what's coming down the road.
So should she be able to use her land as a mini-farm? Sure, it's her property. She needs to keep it up, though. It's not like her closest neighbor is 3 miles away and she can afford to not always have it perfect. Does she deserve what she's getting now? Like you mentioned, she voted these whackos in, so welcome to the world you helped create, Mo.
Voted "Right, but being a primitive, she deserves the misery."
.

She is the epitome of a hypocritical, leftist scumbag.
All it has ever wanted was more and bigger government taking money from those she thinks have too much.
Now all of a sudden she wants it to leave her alone to inflict squalor on all around her, laws be damned.
She is not a "farmer",she is a bat shit crazy lunatic and lazy, useless slug that won`t even mow the lawn.
I hope the city condemns the whole place and drives a bulldozer through it.
She can eat chicken shit and die. :bird:
-
She may be correct . . .
. . . but, being a primitive and wishing her fellow human travellers to be afflicted with the same sort of misery that she's experiencing now . . . she deserves it. It's all good. :whistling:

Well now, I was thinking about having a fund-raiser here on conservativecave to help Big Mo with any legal bills she might incur, but I guess that idea won't fly?
-
I would normally go with 'Wrong and deserves everything bad that could happen to her just for being a DU idiot.' but decided to go with 'Not sure,' since this relates to a lot of statements of fact she has made as opposed to her stupid and ill-informed opinions. The reason I have to go with 'Not sure' is that although the voluminous allegations relate to factual matters, we have only one very disjointed and incoherent side of the story.

Probably won`t be a lot of takers. :lmao:
Honestly though, she has some kind of nerve with her political stance of all government all the time for thee but not for me.
I am not big on restrictions for what one can do with ones property by any means but there are at times reasonable expectations of what amounts to good civic order.
Her neighbors also have invested in property and have an interest in maintaining the value of their investment as well as an expectation that some crazy scrunt isn`t going to create a rat/lice haven.
Typical selfish dumbocrat, with any luck they will put her in a straight jacket and lock her away.

Well, her vacant lot doesn't look like anything that'd be tolerated around here--although social pressure, not governmental pressure, would take care of it--but this is Chicago.
Has anybody ever seen the housing projects of Chicago?

^^^my original point.

The actual choice I wanted wasn't listed, so I voted RIGHT, hoping to encourage her, at least until the SWAT team shows up.

I would sooner contribute to stewie.
Carl expressed my opinion of Big Mo:

I voted wrong. I'm not against urban farming, far from it, I have a mini one, sans
the chickens, rats, junk piles, weeds and truck. Also, I wouldn't put it where it can be seen from the street or where it affected the aesthetics of the neighborhood.
If she has to have a garden there, why doesn't she just put up an attractive fence?
-
I voted TEH JOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSS!!!!

That would have been my vote !

Good for you Dori, You are a good neighbor.
About that fence thing. Mopunk tore it down. And I get the feeling from Mopunk's replies to all of the snark comments, if the neighbors and the city want to have a fence, fine, they can put one up.
-
She is right but she is getting the big government she supports. Deserves it.
-
If I were one of Big Mo's neighbors, I would be doing everything I could to encourage her to stand firm. Because she is gonna loose big time and it would be so much FUn to watch. But behind the scenes I would be bitching up a storm to the zoning office because who would want to live near that sh*t hole?
There is no way the zoning office can allow here to keep a junk car on the lot. If they do, the city will not ever be able to force a landowner to clean up blighted properties or fine them for non-compliance.

Been running this problem around in my half empty noggin and have a few suggestion for MO that comes from my life and the buggers that wanted to take my property at a low price to make a good amount for them selves.
MO first thing you need to do is to get rid of any roosters, only thing worse then roosters are male peacocks , Libs don't care but the Cons. that have to get up early to go to work or want to sleep in on a Sat. may not be too happy being awakened at false dawn.
Check out the neighborhood for the regular street folk, You only need two or three and offer them a home made baked chicken dinner, just Kill rooster, pluck and bake with a few potatoes a carrot or so and a big onion.
Show them what you need done, perhaps 2 hours of work, feed them and they will be back in a day or so looking for another 2 hours work for a good hot meal.
Get the workers to go on a search for pallets in good shape, take them apart and when painted, yes you have to buy the paint, will make great little fences to enclose any number of things.
Important is to listen to the ideas the street folk have, never know what the older ones did in a before life and they may need to visualize what they can still do with pride. You want a fence in a south east corner but it is suggested you place the fence to a north east corner, go for it and keep your big butt in the kitchen cooking for the hungry men.
Far as the city goes, as long as you can show you are making improvements even to the point of bugging the city codes and you need to pay $10.00 for permission to do something small as in replacing front or back steps, keep on top of it.
Some folks may see your property as an opening to move in and get you out in order to make much money building an apartment house on the 3 lots you own, one where the home is and the two you bought for your farm.
I ran into this 30 years ago, all kinds of stuff in the works for the city movers and shakers of a big city. No problems until the community decided to move in a HOA that I and other saw as stupid as we owned our homes.
We had bought our homes at drop bottom prices and paid off the bank loan in 5 years and saw no need to pay anyone for anything but the tax collector and our insurance company.
