Ray Lambrecht, ex-Chevy dealer who sold vintage cars at auction last year for $2.8M, dies at 96

Before the start of bidding, the crowd flocked around the highest-profile vehicle at the Lambrecht Chevrolet auto auction, a turquoise 1958 Chevrolet Cameo pickup truck with 1.3 miles on the odometer. The pickup was one of nearly 500 vintage vehicles, many never owned before, that longtime Chevy dealer Ray Lambrecht had collected in a field near his home. The Cameo eventually sold for $140,000.

Generations of northeast Nebraskans remember Ray Lambrecht for the cars and trucks he sold.

A year ago, the rest of the world got to know the small-town Chevrolet dealer for the cars he kept.

The 96-year-old Lambrecht died last week at his home across the street from the Chevrolet dealership he owned and operated in Pierce for a half-century.

His death Sept. 22 came a few days shy of a year after car collectors and enthusiasts by the thousands turned tiny Pierce into the Detroit of the Plains for a once-in-a-lifetime auction of vintage Chevys from a time capsule of automotive history.

The big guy has started puking out stupid posts non-stop, often sickeningly cutesy animal junk, to let us know he's not dead yet.

He'd better start listing up some infirmities, or else the DUmmies will start to realize his terminal diagnosis was as phony as his political career and his quest for disability.

If worse comes to worst, it's not that far from the roof of Nebraska to Bellevue.

He needs to start making reference to 'kittehs' and 'goggies' if he intends to make an impact with this sort of thing.

Where's the sense of humor and the delight in the unusual that crops up a few times a year

Not too often something comes up that punches you out of the everyday routine into a Who would have Thunk it.   Something to take our mind off our personal problems, problems we as individuals around the world cannot do one darn thing about.

Instead of  :banghead:   because work is driving you nuts, some really odd out of your life style or knowledge comes up.    No curiosity or give a crap about the subject, not your cup of tea. Here is were the brain atrophies or morphs into a one channel  radio for self and family.

I seem to remember coach having started a thread about that sale long before the big guy became informed.
Maybe he is lurking over here for material he can plagiarize.

Yeah, that was "embedded"--with lots and lots of photographs--in GOBUCKS' most-excellent thread inquiring if Gearhart Chevrolet had discovered walrus-face's monkey jinks.
