It's a helluva thread.
Definitely worth the scroll.

53. Not for this President. He must be favored by God and the universe that he is still with us con-
sidering the many mole and maggots inside government who are RW zealots. It's just amazing to me that he made it through for a second term. We all know the uncontrolled power of the FBI and CIA and law enforcement in general. I truly admire those among them who are decent, fair-minded citizens doing the jobs they were intended to do. We have lost too many good men by the assassin's hand.
What we need is a good ol' fashioned PURGE!

3. Wow. Again, this is more than negligence and/or incompetence.
This seriously borders on LIHOP.
I believe there are possibly some disloyal agents along with an incompetent director.
There are simply too many points of failure for me to conclude otherwise.
Congress should encourage more whistleblowers to come forward. We need to root out the bad apples.

at the expense of the massive greed of the very few, I think that is in the mix too.

They're probably very scared about all this...
No doubt it's putting a damper on the vacation.

12. Maybe we can understand why he is afraid to fire Gen Clapper. His and his family's security is in
the hands of the Security State. They grew very powerful during the Bush years and the President must be very careful. Just sayin'.

54. Technically, [the USSS was part of the Treasury Department] but it really only answered to itself. Once HS swallowed it up, it went downhill.
Wait a minute.
Are you suggesting that supper-massive government agencies dilute effectiveness?

Because the government only answers to itself.
Just like you like it.

What's next? An order to "stand down"?
Stochastic terrorism. Hatred on the Right. Cultivated contempt on the Left. Reorganization of departments into "Homeland Security." Deliberate underfunding and understaffing by Congress.
And DUers wonder why BOGgers feel protective of this man? Maybe some of us wonder how we've managed to keep him this long.

57. The sad fact is
If the Secret Service failed to protect Obama, there would be a lot of champgne popped, and NOT just in the boardrooms and the churches, but among some self-described leftists in places like Firedoglake. It is not enough that this country was woefully unprepared for a Black President, but that there are many of all stripes who think that be tearing down what civilization we have left, they will get the become the Messiahs in charge of a revolution. Of course, if that were to happen, they would get mowed sown, just as Napoleon moved down the same folks that manned the guillotine, and Stalin mowed down folks like Trotsky.
It is fully possible to be angry and attack Obama for his failure to show agression at home, in a culutre where no one respects you unless you are agressive. It is fully possible to hate what "bipartisanhip" has been corrupted to, and to wish Obama would put on those comfortable walking shoes and stand WITH the sort of people the Clintons will be running from, and running over in 2016. It is not sedition to yell at Obama, even curse him, as many of us are trying to same him and our party, from themselves.
However, to deny the fact that Obama being black is allowing all sorts of vile nastiness to erupt is a lie.
PS: when whatever WHiter person in 2016 takes over, watch the secret service get as tight as a noose!

72. When Obama was elected,
one of my main concerns was that he wouldn't live past his first term. Why? Because he was our first BLACK president. Over the past several years, it has been quite obvious what part racism plays in today's society. All the shootings, one beheading, and the racists comments and actions made by Americans. It's not a safe world, especially for a black president. And now to have 3 incidents reported in the past week? It's a miracle he's still alive. The time is NOW for the secret service to get their shit together, including a replacement of the director. Is is training? Background checks? I wish I had the answer. There is an obvious, serious problem that needs an immediate resolution. I, as are many other Americans, quite scared for the first family's safety. What the hell is going on in this country?

76. The times are ripe for a coup.
Not just this incident but when the RW is on the defensive it's not a recipe for playing fair.

90. This is the RW meme. Who do we want protecting him, Blackwater's newest incarnation?
The Secret Service is at best grossly negligent and incompetent as an institution. And that's assuming all of these failures are isolated incidents.
No, the GOP who slashed the budget for security at Benghazi, for the POTUS and every other agency of the US government are responsible. This even came out in their latest witch hunt committee where they pretend they don't know how this is happening but are more than likely toasting it, just as they did the shutdown and drooling over the chance to default.
The stage of the Sequester started the first chance that the Tea Party had after they got in office in 2010 and has continued to cut funding for the Secret Service and every other agency:

139. what?
this is unbelievable. The SS DOES NOT care about our POTUS, period. "ARMED" is the operative word here. Could they be setting up the mindset/incidents for the next 'assassination of a POTUS' tragedy? I am just wondering what's going on here. Just a question.

You mutants are too dumb to understand that the last thing any conservative wants is this self made jackass to become a martyr for anyone.
He is destined to be regarded as an abysmal failure at best and destructive traitor at worst.
-
What in the heck does Bush have to do with who Obama picks for his security detail? He picked the woman who is running it. She's a Democrat that voted for him.
-
Good find.
This is one of those threads where you scratch your head and wonder how it's possible to be that stupid. Their comments are all over the map. Out of all the things to be concerned about, the Secret Service is the last on the list. And the things they should be concerned about they incorrectly blame the Republicans for them not being fixed.
What a crazy, mixed-up world they live in. Thanks primitives for the laughs.

The rich are getting much richer, and the middle class has lost wages and wealth since Obama took office. Blacks and women have suffered the most under his regime.
On a side note, the first Secret Service agent that was encountered and overpowered was a woman. Real smart thinking there. Put the weakest link right next to the padlock.

My thoughts on this are that the team (SS) is a reflection of the coach (OBummer), in other words welcome to the third world. :argh:

52. Especially when there were agents on scene who spoke of gunfire, and
hell, a couple of them there in an unmarked car said they could SMELL gunpowder forcryingoutloud, and yet somebody above them said - "no, it was cars backfiring from a nearby construction site." WHY was that suppressed? WHY was that not investigated? A housekeeper had to find it before the Secret Service - um, pardon me, I misidentified them - the SHITTY Service finally decided to acknowledge the facts of it?????
The leadership THEN - should NO LONGER be allowed to continue to be leadership NOW. The leadership THEN is what ****ED UP. Heads should roll.
A car backfiring? How was that even remotely plausible? I can't remember the last time I heard a car backfire. Is it even possible for modern cars with electronic ignition and fuel injection to backfire? I suppose it's possible but how could professional bodyguards accept it as an explanation?
