Title: Prosecutor: DNA clears JonBenet Ramsey's family

BOULDER, Colo. - Prosecutors say new DNA tests have cleared JonBenet Ramsey's family in the 1996 killing of the 6-year-old beauty queen.

Boulder County District Attorney Mary Lacy said Wednesday the tests point to an "unexplained third party."

She says prosecutors don't consider any member of the Ramsey family to be a suspect.

JonBenet's parents, John and Patsy Ramsey, were long said to be under an "umbrella of suspicion" in the girl's slaying.

Lacy apologized to the family on Wednesday, saying, "To the extent that this office has added to the distress suffered by the Ramsey family at any time or to any degree, I offer my deepest apology."

Leave it to The People's Republic of Boulder (county) to take 10 years to clear DNA testing that would have taken 48 hours anywhere else.

That is all fine and good, but my memory isn't that short.  At the time, the Ramseys acted like guilty people - not like parents who just had their 6-year-old daughter inexplicably murdered in their basement in the middle of the night.

What about the ransom note?  It was written on a pad belonging to Mrs. Ramsey.  Practice notes were found.  The money demanded matched Ramsey's recent bonus.  Ramsey called an attorney before he called the police.  Weird circumstances abound.

And then there was the Boulder police.  They acted like they had all been hired that morning through CopTemp, Inc.

I can accept that the Ramseys had no part in the actual murder, but I will always believe they had more knowledge of the situation than we will ever know they had.

I don't know that I could specifically pin the way the Ramseys attitude to guilty; I think it looked more like your typical, generally dysfunctional liberal Boulder County family being paraded by the vultures of the news media.

They keep showing Jon Benet in those damn child porn kiddie beauty pageants and it makes me physically ill.  They acted as they did because they knew they were guilty of child abuse.

Hinky is the only word I can come up with when thinking about that case.

We will never know what happened. Too many mistakes were made.

I think JonBenet was killed by either a relative or close friend. It could of been an accident and they try to make it look like murder. Well, it could be murder and why would someone do that. I don't understand why a 6 year old has to participate in a beauty pageant. If JonBenet was alive, I wonder how she would feel about being a beauty pageant as a kid?

I'll have to look up 'hinky' to see if I agree.

4,213 days later they clear the parents. I dont know whether to be glad they didn't jail the wrong people or to be pissed that they have yet to find the killer.

Leave it to The People's Republic of Boulder (county) to take 10 years to clear DNA testing that would have taken 48 hours anywhere else.

It was reported elsewhere, that this test was done do to a new form of DNA testing which didn't exist at the time.  Sounded strange to me, but thats what was reported...

Regardless, that has to be some measure of public consolation to the remaining parent.  To be some what vindicated from suspicion, after all these years.  Hopefully... one day... the person responsible is apprehended though  than it's bbq time :fuelfire:

In 10 years, with the lab equipment they had at their disposal and the resources available to one of the richest county governments in the state of Colorado - not to mention the State resources just awaiting their beck and call, a complete incompetent like Boядt Osama could have CLONED the "unidentified donor" and we'd have the identity that way.

I do not excuse investigational incompetence from these folks.

I would have bet on it being the mother.

Ever notice how you never see any mention of the older brother?
