Title: What's your Gulity Pleasure TV show
Post by: Miss Mia on July 09, 2008, 01:27:52 PM
We all have them, the slightly embarrassing show that you cannot help but watch every time it's on.

Mine is Bridezillas.  I unashamedly love that show.  I love the fighting.  I cannot understand why anyone marries these women, they're psycho!  If there's a marathon of it on, I'll watch ever episode.

So what's your guilty pleasure?

South Park.

I love it, my wife doesn't want it in her house (dammit!).  So when she goes up for a shower, I flip over to Comedy Central and watch - with a finger poised on the <RECALL> button on the remote.

It seems like a lot of people I know absolutely detest Hell's Kitchen, but it is my guilty pleasure, watching Gordon Ramsay rip the contestant chefs to pieces. :fuelfire:  I'm still angry about Jen being kicked off, as I considered her to be the best chef.

Edit:  I missed last night's episode, and found out Christina won.  Well, it's better than Corey.  *shudders*

its fairly boring but the mom is just way too involved.. she's in the middle of her college son's relationship with his girlfriend (no big suprise the girlfriends says adios in one episode.. but mom calls her and gets her back) ... Ali Lohan dresses, talks and acts far older than 14.. and does everybody now wear fake eyelashes?? Ali Lohan is a cute girl, but she looks 30something, although her body is still like a kids....

Denise Richards cusses like a sailer.. she is kind of funny actually.

Jeff LOVES that show... Gordon Ramsey is typically spot on about his gripes, but he's so over the top - i dont know how the restraunt staff ever gets over his stabbing them sometimes. but he usually gets them on track even after he totally shreds them... good show.

Did you ever watch The Real Housewives of Orange County.  I've caught that a few times on a Sunday afternoon.  There's one mom that's waaaay to into her college son's life.  He's away at school and she shows up with a case of beer.  He's so embarrassed that she's there.  It was funny.

I think his staff is probably quite used to his behavior, or at least they know how to give him what he wants.

What do y'all think of his other show, Kitchen Nightmares?  Not quite the same amount of cruelty involved, but it's worth watching, IMO.

I don't know if I have any right at this moment but when Hercules and Xena were on I felt embarressed telling people I watched those shows.

The most recent one I remember was Crossing Jordan which just got more judgey and bizzare with each season.  Each season you thought it couldn't get any more insipid but it did right up to the end.  It was put out of it's misery last year and I don't think there is anything I watch that replaces it.

Suggestions?  I prefer scripted shows.  I don't feel any guilt when watching South Park or the Adult Swim shows I watch, I kind of like the preachy liberal fundamentalism of Crossing Jordan or some episodes of Law and Order to be embarresed to admit to watching.

Closest thing to a guilty pleasure would be Family Guy.

I don't really watch much T.V.  My wife watches enough for the both of us.

well, but Ramsey yells at people in other kitchens... not his own staff. that's what makes it so incredible.. that people would take his anger and then turn it around. most people say, "ah screw it, its just a waiter/waiteress job... dime a dozen."

i dont think ive seen Kitchen Nightmares...

Not quite like Hell's Kitchen, but it's interesting to see how the executive chefs of the restaurants in dire need respond  to Ramsay's criticism.  I still remember the one episode where the chef was an egotistical Frenchman ( edit: Oh wait, that's redundant, isn't it?  :uhsure:  ).   Watching him and Ramsay butt heads was entertaining.   :lmao:

If you have high-speed internet, you should be able to watch the episode on Hulu.com

I sometimes worry I have an inner metrosexual trying to get out

So the hubby is watching What Not to Wear (I can hear Clinton and Stacy chattering) and I'm thinking, "hmmmm...." So I teasingly ask him if he's all gheyed up yet and he says: "Nope. This girl has huge knockers and they took her to get fitted for a bra and I just got mesmerized."  :rotf:

Here's my list:

Flipping Out
The Real Housewives (both coasts)
Denise Richards
Reno 911
Jon & Kate + 8 (even though I want to loan him a pair and knock her through a wall - those kids are too adorable)
Gene Simmons
That 70's Show - it's like reliving my childhood. My parents are almost Kitty and Red.

I like Jon & Kate +8 as well.  I wish they could just give me one of those kids, they are adorable.  Kate is a tad overbearing though.  Sometimes I like watching Little People, Big World.  I couldn't stay married to the husband, his personality traits would drive me nuts.  I would also get those kids in shape and to act respectful, they are turds sometimes.  They are also huge slobs, sometimes I like to watch just so I can see what pigs they are.

My wife loves "Hells Kitchen" and never misses one.  I don't share her thrill; I consider it too harsh.  We both like to watch that Dr. G autopsy show.

My "guilty pleasure" is to watch the intro to films on TCM.  That tubby guy, and then that younger bearded guy, they both seem so confident of the movie history they speak.  It is as if they were there.

After all, how else are we to absorb the information that Marilyn had skidmarks on her panties during the filming of "The Misfits" and Gable couldn't eat his commissary lunch thinking about it?

Oh, that's another favorite of mine.  I even downloaded a couple of episodes to my Zune MP3 player.   :uhsure:

I'd say the Armory episode from Season 1, when the sound guy Frank got "thrown down" by some entity, is my favorite.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer :shucks:  (Angel too)

Still watch that show sometimes and still mad that hulu only has seasons one and two. "Guilty" pleasure I guess cuz I'm 35 years old and the show is very geared to High School/College kids. LOL (also a bit soap opera-ish if soap opera's were much better written of course) Still, as a meger defense, I can say that it was my live-in gf's absolute favorite show when it came out. At the time she was 21 and I was "only" 24. (that lasted just under 4 years but I kept watching the show, heh heh)

Mia, I've also been mesmerized by Bridezillas. I found it flipping through channels one time and it was a marathon--I watched like 6 episodes :lmao: I'm with you--who would marry these psychos! Jesus!

Ghost Hunters on the Sci-Fi channel. Ever since I saw that thermal image of a human sized figure on their camera at the Crescent Hotel, I have watched a lot of episodes.

Maybe it was, oh, I don't know, a human?

Watch the show and then tell me it was a living human.

ETA: Here is the video of that portion of the episode.

Creepy! How in the world could a human affect the number (the "2" that you see) that way? This was a thermal image and the number shows up hot.

You're ashamed of watching Southpark? That's it, you're kicked out of the SP fan club.  :censored:

Not ashamed of watching South Park.  Just want to keep my nookie privileges intact.

Having watched the "analysis" part of the episode,  they could never determine what caused that to happen.   :o

I know there are skeptics here on CC, but I think they'd like the show regardless.  Jason and Grant always set out with one goal: to DEBUNK the supposed hauntings going on.   They have debunked much of what they've found, but there are also situations where debunking is pretty much impossible.  If folks go to  YouTube, type in "Ghost Hunters Ghostly Conversation", and watch the 5 videos associated with that episode (labeled 1-5).  Now that is a startling episode.

4) I Survived a Japanese Game Show
5) Project Runway
6) Wife Swap
7) Supernanny

And for those of you unfamiliar with McSteamy...

American Idol (I should be over this show by now but I still somehow get sucked in each season.)

Gossip Girl (My high school was never like this.)

So You Think You Can Dance (Most of the male dancers are the ghey but they have the best abs on TV. Next to Eric Dane of course. :-) )

I'll admit, not this summer and not last summer, but the one before that, I seriously watched every episode of So You Think You Can Dance.  I was on a cruise during the week of the finale, and I was setting up my VCR (yeah, that's right, I'm straight up old school) before I left to be sure to record the last episode.  LOL

I would also like it noted in the record, that summer I did not have cable tv only the antenna.

Deb, everyone here is nice. You said something that concerned me before, about not feeling comfortable here. I didn't understand it. I have known many of these people for years and they're ALWAYS welcoming. Hell, this site, under WE, Thor, and My leadership, as well as our Mods, has people signing up and who are regular posters who never felt comfortable at other sites. This site welcomes all. ...and I know you all too well. YOU would love it here. ....'specially if you post that bikini/float pic.  :naughty:

South Park.

I love it, my wife doesn't want it in her house (dammit!).  So when she goes up for a shower, I flip over to Comedy Central and watch - with a finger poised on the <RECALL> button on the remote.

South Park for sure. A lot of the cartoons on Adult Swim like Metalocolypse, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Robot Chicken, etc. At almost 30 years old, I'm supposed to "grow up" and watch something else. Fudge that. Gimmie my goofy weird Almost Not Safe For Work cartoons. :)

I became an Adult Swim afficianado when I was on an out of town project out in Salt Lake City.  The hotel room's television choices were rather limited - if I wasn't looking for 6 different sttions of Telemundo, that is - and if I was too bored to work on a personal project on my laptop, I'd flip on Adult Swim for something to fall asleep to.  Robot Chicken cracks me the hell up; but I do with out Metalocolypse or Harvey Birdman.

Yeah, he's coming back. AGAIN. Why won't they let Denny Duquette be DEAD already! Gah! I'm so sick of the show revolving around Izzie Stevens. More McSteamy!

And that's fine if I'm the only one who is into McSteamy...just means more for me. And for the person who didn't like his facial hair...

He's coming back, Vivismom? When?!  :uhsure: I kinda stopped watching the show after season 3 (I really hate what they've done to Izzie on the show, and even as a fan, I'm hoping they just do her a favor and kill her off).

As for him being brought back, even after all this time, Denny still has a large fan base.  ;)

Normally, I do like a little facial hair, but dang, Eric looks better without it.   :naughty:

He'll be back for the SP in September, which means that once again, it's Izzie's Anatomy. Gag.

I would take Eric Dane no matter what kind of facial hair he had. Apparently at one point he had a buzz cut. It's okay, but I like his hair now.

If I had known he was on Charmed I would have paid more attention!
