First he brought us lung infections for the young from across the border, now he's going to bring us Ebola from Africa for everyone. That's the new Obama healthcare plan.....and his friend Bill Ayers will at long last get his 25 million dead.
That's the way I see it.

That was my thought line as well.

What could possibly go wrong with that plan?
:sarcasm:
Heard a sound bite from the poor bastard Pentagon press weasel, talking about 'We have to do it before the virus mutates!!!' The pressure for it to mutate would actually come from the large-scale introduction of the latest Western medical technology, the virus has been genetically stable for a very long time. Forceful quarantine measures imposed by the governments of the region would be the most practical solution, but like most of Africa, they're largely 'Failed states' that are incapable of imposing any measure that applies to everyone and can't be bribed away or otherwise avoided.

And now, for the next trick . . .

It's probably just a matter of time before it shows up here. The CDC has already started sending hospitals checklists to be able to recognize it and to prepare for it.

He is hell bent on making us no better than your average 3rd World shithole.
It's almost like he believes that we don't deserve to be better than them....so he's going to make us suffer like they do.

Didn't they say that it's already mutated? There are two different strains of the Virus running rampant in Africa if I remember correctly.

From what I've read, there's five strains of the little bastard.
From the WHO website:
Bundibugyo ebolavirus (BDBV)
Zaire ebolavirus (EBOV)
Reston ebolavirus (RESTV)
Sudan ebolavirus (SUDV)
Taï Forest ebolavirus (TAFV).
What's killing people in Africa at the moment is the Zaire ebolavirus. Supposedly, it is the most virulent--and fatal--of the five. The Reston (as in Reston, VA, where it first appeared--yes, in the US!) ebolavirus is only fatal to monkeys--it first got going in a research lab in Reston, in 1993. The big fear is that the Zaire strain will mutate and become a hardier, more easily communicable disease (read: airborne). As it stands now, one of the modes of transmission just happens to be taxicabs, of all things.
I've also seen that there's now an outbreak of ebola in Congo, which may not be connected to the Liberian outbreak. Is it the same strain? Don't know.

Here's something for you:
Aid organisation to refuse Ebola cash from Australia

MSF has described the response to the Ebola epidemic so far as 'lethally inadequate'. Photo: AFP.
An aid organisation has rejected the Abbott government's multimillion-dollar pledge to help fight the Ebola epidemic, saying more personnel and equipment are urgently needed instead.
Medecins Sans Frontieres Australia (Doctors Without Borders) says the $2.5 million offered on Wednesday would be better spent providing the same sort of logistical help as provided by military assistance in major disasters.
"Let's be very clear. It's not MSF's role nor should it be to substitute the responsibility of the Australian government or any other state in addressing this (epidemic)," MSF Australia executive director Paul McPhun told AAP.
"This money would be better spent providing capacity that Medecins Sans Frontieres and other NGOs cannot."
"Our teams have been overwhelmed for some time now, and are forced to turn away patients that are highly infectious. What is needed is a massive increase in personnel, equipment and logistical support."
I can see their point, actually.

Money is always handy to have around. It could have been used to fly in willing volunteers that couldn't afford to get there any other way. ....rubber gloves, disinfectant, labor to bury the dead, etc.....sounds to me more like someone might not like the Australians politics.
