Man who tried to sell crushed pop tart as cocaine prosecuted for fraud

Trying to sell drugs to an undercover police officer is not the best move for an aspiring drug dealer.
However attempting to pass off a crushed pop tart as crack cocaine has proved particularly unwise.
It has left Cameron Mitchell of Rocky Mount, North Carolina facing two fraud charges.
How is selling crushed pop tarts as cocaine is fraud? Isn't selling drugs a crime already? :???:
I thought the drugs are mixed with other nasty things and passed as what ever they are selling. I am sure marijuana today is mixed with other nasty drugs and still called marijuana.
I wonder what is Cameron Mitchell's DU name.

Because you are stealing money from someone with a lie if you do it, of course it's fraud. Do you think it's not really armed robbery if you use a toy gun? Bastard still gets off pretty easy, the fraud charges will likely end up as non-drug misdemeanor charges.
It's also a crime to buy drugs even if they turn out to be fake drugs, so any idiot besides the undercover cop who bought the crushed pop-tart as drugs and then complains about it would still get to go to court too.
