Judge orders new jury in LaBelle civil lawsuit
http://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/Mistrial-declared-after-jury-chosen-in-civil-suit-5757429.php
lawsuit against legendary R&B diva Patti LaBelle and others - over a fight between her bodyguards and a white West Point cadet - was to set to begin Monday, a federal judge delayed proceedings over concerns that the jury had no blacks.
U.S. District Judge Keith Ellison said he was not accusing anyone of being a racist, but that he also felt lawyers on both sides of the case needed to start over Tuesday and pick 12 jurors from a larger pool of citizens.
"I am certainly not accusing anyone of anything, but some might think plausibly that this is a race sensitive case because of accusations of a racial epithet being used," Ellison said from the bench. "My inclination is to declare a mistrial."
The trial was about to start, but halted because of no Black jurors. :wtf2: :mental:
What next, halt all trials because the jury pool is missing a certain demographic group?????? I am surprised the prosecutor did not raise that during the Zimmerman trial.

Jury: LaBelle not liable for cadet's injuries
http://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/article/Jury-LaBelle-not-liable-for-cadet-s-injuries-5776142.php
A federal jury late Tuesday rejected a former West Point cadet's multi-million dollar claim that singer Patti LaBelle should pay for injuries he suffered during a clash with La Belle's entourage at Bush Intercontinental Airport in 2011.
Jurors weighed the case for about ten hours Tuesday, their first day of deliberations, before reaching their verdict in the courtroom of U.S. District Judge Keith Ellison.
The lawsuit centered on an incident in which Richard King, who had been drinking heavily and just arrived back in Houston while home on Spring Break from the military academy, crossed paths with LaBelle, 70, who was headed to a concert at a Louisiana.
Some of the comments are stupid. Vapid leftists no doubt.

My guess is the alcohol he drank killed more brain cells than the beating did.
Not to mention he was kicked out for being drunk in public which sheds a bad light on the Academy
