California drivers brace for costly new gas tax
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/08/27/california-hidden-gas-tax/
Californians already pay the nation's second highest gas tax at 68 cents a gallon -- and now it will go up again in January to pay for a first-in-the-nation climate change law.
"I didn't know that," said Los Angeles motorist Tyler Rich. "It's ridiculous."
"I think it’s terrible," added Lupe Sanchez, pumping $4.09-a-gallon gas at a Chevron near Santa Monica. "The economy, the way it is right now with jobs and everything, it's just crazy."
California is such a screwed up state. :mental:

No worries. If Obama gets his way, every state will be paying that much for gas.
-
Makes me wonder if the recent drop in gas is purposely being done to "offset" this. We are trying to repeal this bit of "Progressive" bullshit.

It does seem strange that with all the problems in the ME, gas prices have remained fairly steady or went down. We had the first price increase this week for the first time in a month or more.

Our gas has gone down a tad. Supposedly, there was a lot of reserve capacity built up over the summer (go figure!), and as such, the supply disruptions because of Ukraine/Iraq aren't hitting us anywhere nearly as bad as it is in other parts of the world.

It costs real money to keep up a bunch of illegal aliens.

People haven't been able to afford to drive and travel as much.

We can thank schwartzenegger and his global warming initiative in 2006 for this.

At the beginning of next year, the law will also apply to oil and gas. Refiners and distributors say they will pass another $2 billion in costs on - largely to consumers.
"Ultimately it hurts the consumer,"
What's rarely hit upon is that taxes on corporations are ultimately taxes on average joe. Corporations are free to pass on any costs the govt sticks them with onto consumers. Heck, what do politicians think they're going to do, eat the lose? :not:

This tax is the most regressive tax possible. Many of the Downtrodden Poor so beloved by boxhead and feinshit might not even be able to make it to work (or the Home Deport parking lots).
And for California to think it can singularly make ANY DIFFERENCE IN CLIMATE AT ALL is not only arrogant but ignorant of geography:
California is about 164,000 SQM. The world is 316,944,046
164,000 / 316,944,046 = 0.0005174414918650973
So California is 5 ten-thousands of the world's area.
OK, let's do the same math on population:
California population: 38 million
World Population: 7 billion
38 million / 7 billion = 0.00542857142
So, this time by population California is 5 thousandths of the world populations.
Both numbers are insignificant EVEN postulating AGW's now extremely tenuous hold on anything resembling science fact.

But we have consensus......... Commiefornia sucks.
