Title: Today's been a productive day
Post by: Miss Mia on July 08, 2008, 03:55:38 PM
I managed to call 2 foundation companies and get appointments for an estimate set up.  And I called the people I purchased my cello from to see about getting an appraisal done on it.

Yeah, I've done a little work too, but that's just not nearly as important.   :-)

Did you ever see the TV movie "Evil Roy Slade" starring John Astin?  It was pretty funny, and in one scene when he is trying to become "good" he draws his gun on the (male) Cello player: "There's womern in here -- get that thing out from between your legs and under your chin where it belongs." Of course, the poor player complies.

One of the funniest scenes ever on TV.

I've never seen that.

It's a little sad to think about selling it...but at least I know it's going to a good home.

I haven't told Lauren yet that I asked about your Cello.   :p

I would never!  I told a few people I'm thinking of selling it.  At least to you I'd know it was in a good home that will take nice care of it.  It's not some stranger on ebay.

Oh, I have a nice stand, does Lauren need one?  It's like the first one, but has a light on it like in the second pic.

She has one but if we buy your cello we will take the stand, it's nicer than the one she has.  Thanks!

Semi productive day around here....got some windows cleaned (amazing how cats sitting and looking out a window can leave such a mess behind!) and vacuumed, and most importantly, our AC got fixed!  Woohoo.   Cost us a pretty penny, but it was worth it.

That was my practice stand at home.  I have a little electronic metronome, but it needs a battery.  I had a metal stand, the fold up kind for when I had to take a stand with me somewhere.

I called Burak's shop, I can't really make it there this week, so I'm setting up an appointment for early next week.  The lady that answered the phone was surprised that I had a Burak Peterson.  She asked how old it was, and I was like "um, maybe 13 years."  This was I think the second year that he was making instruments and he was in a little warehouse over in Ft Worth.

Having AC back must be heavenly Flame.  :)  BTW, if you feel the need to clean more, just stop on by.  :)
