I voted for other.

I see a huge problem in the black population.....it's been going on for decades and no one ever seems to want to discuss it, let alone deal with it.

I had to go with "other;" mistrust because of perceived discrimination, an attitude fostered by the news media, the "socially conscious," activists, and public schools dominated by left-leaning teachers, who have an interest in perpetuating racism in our society.

They do that because it allows them to vent their personal antagonisms about "the system" using other people, in this case people who need hope, not rage.

I agree. Many in the black  community see themselves as victims of white suppression and tend to over react to events that are perceived to validate their preconceived notions. At the same time they ignore or down play many of the real issues like black on black crime, high levels of drug use and the high  percentage of broken families they have. These problems are ignored because the can not be blamed on white suppression but can be laid squarely at the feet of black urban culture

There is a lot of mistrust directed at police by the black community, but much of it comes from the race baiters and liberals themselves.

We constantly hear that the justice system is rigged against black people. For proof , they point to the disproportionate number of blacks that are in prison or have served prison time.

They leave out the fact that blacks are committing a disproportionate number of crimes.  All the blacks hear is that blacks get locked up more than whites.

Black culture which has been shaped by liberal policies also plays a huge part in the distrust. I don't believe it's entirely racial or even mostly racial, because that same distrust exists in cities and communities with police departments that are predominantly minority staffed.

I do wish rap music would go away.  I hate it so much.  It's so bad for the ears and soul.

That "gangsta" rap crap sure doesn't help these kids.

A good portion of them, especially the boys, seem to be most affected by it.  On it's own maybe it's just a fad, but when you add in the rest of social ills to the mix, these kids seem doomed before they even get started.

Go to google  videos and search "N-words being N-words".....you'll have to spell the N-word out for google but it doesn't much matter what spelling you use, you'll get videos from one extreme to the other.

The young blacks are attracted to the thug life  like moths to a porch light when they see the gangsta rap "artists" flaunting all the money, women, cars, houses and other material items they have as  the result of being a thug.  The see how rude, disrespectful and arrogant these rap "artists" are and try to emulate them thinking they are cool and will get the same success they have.

A few weeks ago I worked special effects at a rave in the Los Angeles area (no, this grandpa isn't down with the rave culture, the gig just paid very well).  One of the acts was 2 black guys strutting around on stage for 90 minutes spouting off into the microphones on anything and everything, but one thing that stuck in my mind was one of them saying how he made more money selling dope than he did on selling records (after listening to his "music", I can understand why). There were a few LA Sheriff officers backstage and I looked at them when he said this and they had no visible reaction.  A little bit later another act got the crowd all riled up and told the crowd to put both middle fingers in the air and yell out "**** da pole-ise" over and over.  The crowd gleefully complied.   Again, The Sheriff officers just stood there with basically blank expressions on their faces.  I guess they know these "artists" are just all gas and no go, but it is indicative of how little respect this gangsta rap culture has for Law Enforcement and how much shit Law Enforcement has to put up with regarding these clowns.

I do agree that unruly protesters are the reason, but I also realize that there are more factors in play than just that. For example, the outside agitators (i.e., genuine leftists such as Marxists, anarchists, etc.) probably egg on the violent protests because "smash capitalism, smash the state, smash 'racism'" I also count in many internet agitators, such as those who really believe a "riot is the language of the unheard", or hate critics for "riot-shaming", found in the cesspools of liberal subversion and decadence (such as Tumblr.)

I do not believe, however, that the police militarization has anything to do with the looting. There are rioters, looters, arsonists, and anarchists about in Ferguson, the police must gear up accordingly to deal with the scale of threats that those forces pose to themselves and to the community at large. If those throwing rocks at the police, breaking their ankles, and yelling "NO JUSTICE! NO PEACE! FUK THA POLLEZZ! HE DIN' DO NUFFIN'!" complain about police in riot gear, they are clearly the collective that has successfully completed the greatest act of having the complete lack of self-awareness known to mankind. **** them, I support Ferguson PD 100%, I hope they crack open a box of Stingball grenades and OC Paintballs.

I voted "Others". The problem is illegitimacy. Many Blacks are raised in fatherless homes and parents that often go to prison. There was a time that Blacks had fathers in their life and the crime rate was much lower. Many Blacks are in prison because the victims are Black.

There is also the "Hip-Hop" culture, which perpetuates a thug culture. Some say its a form of self-hatred.

The left is also the problem as they perpetuate a defeatist mindset and foster a mindset of victimhood.

Larry Elder talks about this all the time.

Of all the people arrested in Ferguson, only seven were locals. People came to the town in order to riot loot and burn. People came from as far away as Oakland, California specifically to commit violence.
90% of the protestors were professional thugs from outa town.
