A snip out of another Cops are Bad thread at the DUmp.

6. Cops have a very tough job, they don't know if the guy they just pulled over has warrants for murder on him, or if he just robbed a quikie mart. They have to treat everyone as a suspect.
Or if he is strung out on meth, just beat his girlfriend, has a record a mile long, etc etc etc. EVERY stop could go bad in a heartbeat so we treat every stop as a potential danger.

8. Shoot first and ask questions later? If that is your approach, just get a different job
Not what the poster said, Nor what I said. BUT- nice strawman, bitch.

87. Have you ever been pulled over by a cop that stands in your blind spot yelling orders? And when you do see him, he has his hand on the top of his revolver? Is this because I may be a dangerous criminal or is it because the passenger I'm driving home from our job is of color?
We are trained to stand in the blindspot so were are not shot by that crazy POS who just robbed the qwickie-mart. Our hand is on are weapon to be ready if they POS has a gun on him. Too many police have been killed walking up to cars.

12. That's not being a cop. That's being a fascist thug. eom
Of course.

22. That is bullshit and made up nonsense. Any cop who feels thy have to treat everybody as a suspect should get off the force now because they are incompetent.
We have no idea who you are when we stop you. Anyone could be a violent felon... or just a lunatic DUmpmonkie.

18. So statistically speaking what are the chances someone a cop stops and talks to is a murderer?
Or a robber? What is the percentage?
You said a cop has to treat everyone as a suspect, so I'm asking why? What is the likelihood of someone being a suspect? Stats please. Because without statistics your claim means nothing. Is it 1%? Is that a big enough chance for them to treat "everyone as a suspect"? Is it 10%? What is the actual number, the number that makes you feel that way?
It only takes that one person to kill a cop who didn't take precautions.

45. So there's no rational reason for you thinking that cops need to treat everyone as a suspect.
Just a feeling you have of worry. You can't base policy or police actions on a hunch, on worry about a person being a fugitive from the law when you don't even know the probability of that happening.
I can't even comment on the high level of stupidity in this post.

80. In this case no one was "pulled over." The cop instigated the problem by yelling profanity at the boys walking in the street. Then he escalated it by *backing up* and almost hitting them. He wasn't looking for a perp who robbed a quickie mart. He didn't even know about it. So no reason for him to check out anything, just drive on and forget about it.
The BIG lie. That will be the leftist claim from now one. The young man was executed by a racist white cop for NO REASON OTHER THAN HE WAS WALKING DOWN THE STREET WHILE BLACK.

Stupid DUmmies..... I am an older white female, when I get pulled over by a cop for speeding (it has been known to happen) they treat me exactly the same way. But the cop didn't yell orders at me, he asked for the documents he wanted and told me why he was pulling me over. And yes his hand is on the top of his revolver, because he doesn't know I am an older white female and not some violent felon.
Stupidity runs rampant at the DUmp.

Why don't the DUmmies apply for the policemen's job? They can carry flowers in their patrol cars instead of weapons.

I stand corrected..not a revolver but a pistol....actually, I never saw it because he never removed it from his holster, and since I wasn't worried about him drawing it on me, I didn't pay close attention to it. I was more concerned about talking my way out of a speeding ticket.
-

Yeah, you don't know that, shithead. Nobody's heard from the cop, just the other robber and a police chief who forgot how to say 'I don't know' while he was in front of news cameras and just let his mouth run instead.
It's been established since statistical analysis was first applied to shootings of patrolling police officers that half of the shootings occurred at simple traffic stops with no reason to believe anything unusual was going to happen. The 'Domestic disturbance' situation, so beloved by script writers as the worst, actually comes in well behind, at about a third of the shootings.
And 'Hand on his revolver?' That's kind of an anachronistic, but then, DUmmies have never worried too much about basing their opinions on facts.

Not a slam on you. Just a clarification.

I don't have a lot of experience being pulled over by a police, sheriff, or CHP officer, but I've not noticed how they approached my car. I'm not paranoid of police! And if they did approach through my blindspot, that's just fine with me! I'm not paranoid of police! And I sure as ____ don't want another officer's family widowed and orphaned when a little caution could prevent it!
BTW, based on your use of the first-person plural pronoun, thank you for your service, dutch508!

Rudolph isn't long for the DUmp. I saw a couple other posts he made yesterday advising the weirdos to calm down and wait for some facts,
they were not received well.

Any number of reasons the Officer yelled at the men walking in the road way, traffic may have had to swerve to get around them putting everyone in danger.
We old timers were taught to NEVER get out of a car when stopped, wait for the officer to come to you and keep your hands on the wheel.
When car problems cause you to pull off the road put on blinkers pull as far as possible off the highway, exit the car and get as far from the car 50-100 feet then call for help.
Drunks or the bad guys have been known to back end a disabled car killing the people that stayed in the car waiting for help.
There is protocol for the public to follow when the police get involved for any reason.
Follow their instructions, they most likely will not beat you up or shoot you just for the hell of it.
I would estimate that every 5 people an Officer in counters has some thing going on they do not want made public. This also goes for the Cops themselves, they are human and sometimes they arrest people for doing the same thing they are doing.

Everyone needs to know this story;
On December 9, 1981, at approximately 3:55 a.m., Officer Danny Faulkner, a five year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department, made a traffic stop at Locust Street near Twelfth Street. The car stopped by Officer Faulkner was being driven by William Cook. After making the stop, Danny called for assistance on his police radio and requested a police wagon to transport a prisoner. Unbeknownst to him, William Cook’s brother, Wesley (aka Mumia Abu-Jamal) was across the street. As Danny attempted to handcuff William Cook, Mumia Abu-Jamal ran from across the street and shot the officer in the back.

Mumia is still breathing. Danny Faulkner is not.

A lot of times, I have seen officers get really complacent on traffic stops.
The last time I was stopped (speeding, I forgot to set the cruise control :thatsright:) the officer actually walked all the way up to the window and leaned in. I sat with my hands on the steering wheel and we had a brief discussion about how fast I was going then he asked to seem my liscense and registration. I commented that my liscense was in my wallet in my pants and my registration was in my glove box, and that I would gladly retrieve both once he got in the right position. He looked real hard at me for a second then stepped into my blind spot, at which point I collected what he asked for and held them out for him.
He took them, and I was sure I was looking at a ticket. He actually came back with a warning and asked how I knew he wasn't doing it right and we wound up talking for a few minutes about all the law enforcement I grew up around.

Cops have a very tough job
Especially when the LIbEral progressive nincompoop, parading around as the chief law enforcement official of the State, throws the entire LE community under his little red wagon. Bravo, Guv.....Bravo :thatsright:

No way you'll get them to understand that, Dutch.
No way.

Let's not forget how many people are driving around with tinted windows ,too. Here in Illinois many are darker than the law allows, but it isn't enforced.

I've noticed. A lot down here in Saneothern Illinois, too, but I have seen a bunch of tickets issued. Neighbor kid tinted his Mustang GT/CS, dark as hell.
