Sad to see Milw County Dem Sheriff's primary go to "Dirty Harry"
It's not the cowboy hat, rather than a uniform hat, it's not his horseback riding.

I really can't get my head around people voting for a Sheriff's candidate who says it is not the job of the Sheriff's office to protect the community, and urges people to get guns so they can protect themselves.

I can't understand how a community would elect a guy who doesn't believe in 911.

A guy who says he personally wouldn't call 911 until after he shot dead someone confronting him, and he'd only use the talents of the folks who show up to clean up the mess made by the body bleeding out.

I'm relieved I am moving out of the county. This place is going towards vigilantism.
He never said he does not believe in 911 he just said in a life or death situation you are better off being armed than waiting for a response from a overworked and understaffed police force.

I am sure Sheriff Clarke is relieved you are leaving too.

The local Democratic Party endorsed Moews as an exception to the general rule of not endorsing in a primary. Many in the party worked very hard for Moews. Clarke just plain lies when he purports to be a Democrat.

The problem here was cross-over voting that Republicans did at the urging of the conservative radio talkers. I think close analysis of the votes in this election will indicate that. In a low turnout election the effect of cross-over voting is magnified. There are also a significant number of African Americans in Milwaukee who like Clarke because he's "tough on crime" (so they have heard) or because they feel good about voting for someone of their race (this latter point was the opinion of an African American who supported Moews).

The open primary (as opposed to asking for one ballot or the other) was considered a reform measure during the progressive era. Voters who cross over negate that principle.
I cannot tell, is the section in bold a dog whistle? I am pretty sure the dirty part of "Dirty Harry" in the thread title is a dog whistle, as if he were cleaned up a bit (a lighter color) he would be more acceptable.  :fuelfire:

Same thing happened with the McDaniels race in Mississippi.  It's not right there and it's not right anywhere.

In all, outside groups spent more than $550,000 to try to defeat Clarke in what became a political battle of gun control forces vs. Clarke, who received support from the National Rifle Association and other groups.

I will never understand why any political party would believe an open primary is in its best interests.

It's a political perversion to allow the opposition a voice in selecting your party's candidate.

Michael Bloomberg’s anti-gun money up in smoke as pro-gun sheriff wins in Wisconsin

By Cheryl K. Chumley - The Washington Times - Wednesday, August 13, 2014
A pro-gun incumbent sheriff in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, beat back the anti-gun money of former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to win his primary contest for re-election by a handy margin, 52-48 percent.

Sheriff David Clarke, a Democrat, is now almost sure to win in November because no Republican is challenging him, The Washington Post reported.

The race took on national tones just last week when Mr. Bloomberg — who helps head the Mayors Against Illegal Guns group and who has taken up a personal crusade to scale back Second Amendment rights — threw in $150,000 to defeat Sheriff Clarke. That amount was more than what Sheriff Clarke and his opponent, Chris Moews, spent on their entire campaigns, The Post reported.

Now this is damned effective moling!

The dummie starts out by saying the dem party endorsed the anti-gun liberal when normally they stay silent in the primary and the guy "flat out lies".  Establishes cred right off the bat.  He goes further and blames it on the cross over vote by the eeevil rethuglicans due to talk radio. Man that was good!  Now that he has the dummies hooked, he slaps the dummies upside the head with a very large clue bat by hitting them with two points. The first is that ordinary good black folks want law and order, and by extension, trusts law enforcement, important hidden point due to the situation in Missouri and then he goes further and said they voted their race!

Damn that was good.   :cheersmate:

Then the dummie covers his ass by saying someone else that voted for the liberal said it!!  Genius!  Then he beats the dummies over the head with the clue bat again and stated that the open primary was a liberal (he said progressive) idea.

I am impressed!!!  Only thing that would have made it flawless would have been if the dummie would have ended it with a liberal talking point. Still... it was daggone effective.  This person is good.

As always I can neither confirm nor deny... ya all know the rest.

DUmbass should read up on Gonzales v. Castle Rock...

The Sheriff is exactly right.
