This occurred in Britain, but regardless, if this had a Christian prayer the thread would at 500 posts by now and growing. To their credit one or two DUmmies do condemn it, but the rest either impugn the source or accuse the paper of stirring anti-Muslim feelings, and of course there's always, always some comparison drawn to the U.S. and Christians:

Schoolboys punished...for refusing to kneel in class and pray to Allah
Two schoolboys were given detention after refusing to kneel down and 'pray to Allah' during a religious education lesson.
Parents were outraged that the two boys from year seven (11 to 12-year-olds) were punished for not wanting to take part in the practical demonstration of how Allah is worshipped.
They said forcing their children to take part in the exercise at Alsager High School, near Stoke-on-Trent - which included wearing Muslim headgear - was a breach of their human rights.

29. I do. And I work in primary schools. And this is not part of educational practice here.
See my other posts.
The 'Daily Mail' gets things very distorted most of the time. And if it can demonize Muslims, or modern education, or both at the same time, it will.

5. Accepts story at face value.
Knee jerk bigoted slurs against muslims.
You'd be the first one out of the gate with "knee jerk bigoted slurs" at the sightest hint of this being a Christian prayer. Hypocrite.

44. Daily Mail story -- BUT ALSO it was just a class exercise-- why did the kids refuse?
It was just a class exercise-- trying out a different country's practices. What's with the ultra-purist boys that they wouldn't try something out just as an exercise. Geez. They seem like real rigid fundamentalists in their own right.
Gotta be a mole.
LeftishTwit runs through the whole thread going into contortions to discredit the sources, even when multiple ones are provided. Where's the Atheist Brigade on this one?

I'm part of the "atheist brigade" and I have a problem with this. As for the DUmbass responses, you simply cannot buy that kind of brainless stupidity. Not even with Bill Gates' money. Average IQ on that thread: zero.

Yeah, because that's the EXACT SAME THING as kneeling in prayer towards Mecca. :thatsright:

What the **** is wrong with these idiots? They defend Islam, but denounce Christianity. Damn if Savage's definition of "Liberalism" isn't spot on. Its THESE fools that are allowing this shit to happen in the U.K. ::)

Asshats.
Notice that they confuse the religion Islam with a "country's culture"??? Idiot f*cksticks.
Damn I'm pissed! They already tried this bullsh*t in my son's school.
During the next few weeks, multicultural trainer Afeefa Syeed will bring third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students from a Muslim academy in _______, Va., to nearby public schools to share the practices and beliefs of their holiest month, Ramadan."
It's worse than I was initially led to believe. According to FrontPage magazine, 'there will be explanations of the fasting month and “role-playing†that requires students to recite Muslim sacred words and imitate their prayer practices.'
:thatsright:

Good find dandi, I was wondering what DU's response would be to this story and it was pretty much what I suspected.

Holy Crap!!!!!! What did you do?

mama - my son was in one of the lower grades when this happened so his class was not included. They didn't repeat it the following years. They started allowing the Muslim students "a time for reflection and prayer" in the library instead. Which still pissed me off because they closed the entire library to do it. They wanted to give the kids a place to go during lunch because they fast. Fine, but shutting down the whole library AND providing prayer mats? Over the top. They didn't do it last year but they do allow them to go into a small room which is fine.
