World's top PR companies rule out working with climate deniers
http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2014/aug/04/worlds-top-pr-companies-rule-out-working-with-climate-deniers
Some of the world’s top PR companies have for the first time publicly ruled out working with climate change deniers, marking a fundamental shift in the multi-billion dollar industry that has grown up around the issue of global warming.
Public relations firms have played a critical role over the years in framing the debate on climate change and its solutions – as well as the extensive disinformation campaigns launched to block those initiatives.
Now a number of the top 25 global PR firms have told the Guardian they will not represent clients who deny man-made climate change, or take campaigns seeking to block regulations limiting carbon pollution. Companies include WPP, Waggener Edstrom (WE) Worldwide, Weber Shandwick, Text100, and Finn Partners.
Now PR firms are pro-left or pro-climate change. I thought they cared for money.

Capitalism abhors a vacuum...

This stuff is becoming cult like.

What are they talking about? I don't know anyone who denies that the climate changes.

I thought they cared for money.
They do. Follow it.

Anyone else notice how smoothly they transitioned to calling it climate change after global warming fell flat?

It's the number one thing that proves it's NOT about climate nor science.

Call it what it really is "Climate wealth distribution scheme designed to hurt the western economies".

To be fair, the original scientific investigations labeled their hypothetical phenomenon as "climate change". It was the lovely media who placed the label "global warming" on the topic. From there it became a propaganda campaign, leaving real science in the background while governments across the globe began salivating in copious amounts at the thought of the revenues they could generate under the proposal of "doing something" to prevent what they have never been able to prove nor predict is going to happen.

Actually, it was first labeled as "global cooling" in the 1970's and went from unprovable hypothesis to completely politicized dreck from there.

The new ice age, acid rain and the hole in the ozone layer were going to kill us all, but somehow we survived.

Hey they were talking that cooling trash in the mid 60's. I was supposed to under a 1/2 mile of ice by now.

I stand corrected. :-)

One of the few things I remember from my college days.....and BTW, the science was settled on that too, you know.

The following article tries to make the "COOLING story" as a non-story, BUT the author "stands by it"
http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-the-global-cooling-story-came-to-be/
BOSTON – Temperatures have plunged to record lows on the East Coast, and once again Peter Gwynne is being heralded as a journalist ahead of his time. By some.
(break)
And still, Gwynne notes of his story, "I stand by it. It was accurate at the time."
The story observed – accurately – that there had been a gradual decrease in global average temperatures from about 1940, now believed to be a consequence of soot and aerosols that offered a partial shield to the earth as well as the gradual retreat of an abnormally warm interlude.
Some climatologists predicted the trend would continue, inching the earth toward the colder averages of the "Little Ice Age" from the 16th to 19th centuries..........(break)
