I heard yesterday from a staunch Republican that President Obama was going to cancel the 2016 election and remain in office. I tried to explain that such a thing was impossible to do, but to no effect. Does anyone know who's spreading this nonsense this time? I've heard it before, every time a Democrat is President, but don't know who is saying so now.
I heard the same when Clinton was in office, and Bush. I could believe it more with Barry and any of the others.

1. And what an excellent way to bring this garbage here...Sorry... too transparent. See right thru this. You've been on this board for how many years and you need to ask where the right wing propaganda comes from? Really?
::) November will be a blood letting that will be glorious.

9. They are pulling out all the stops for this election.
It will get worse the closer the election gets, so hold onto your hat. Even worse for 2016.
It just makes me sick to see this country go so far downhill regarding elections. They have been ruined by the SCOTUS' decision regarding campaign donations (and, most everything else, of late), and the poison of the Koch bros. is so ingrained in their giant spider web of organizations/think tanks, the Tea Party and anything else they touch that it will take decades to clean up the horrible mess they've caused. I won't live long enough to see it happen, but I hope there are enough sensible/sane people, they'll make it happen.
I was looking at some photos of the militia along the Texas border. My God, they looked like they were out of the Middle East.
If the Federal Government did their job on the border maybe it would look like a third-world shithole.

I'm surprised the Dear Leader fellaters aren't getting behind this concept and pushing. After all, if TEH Holy WON of Shitcago is willing to 'take the bull elephant by the tusks' so to speak, all to advance the fundamental transformation of America, that would have to be good news for the Proglodytes, right? Worthy of at least DUAC-level support, right? :uhsure:

I'm waiting for one of them to glibly suggest "Biden - Obama 2016"

Trey Gowdy recently asked that question during a hearing on Obama overstepping his power.
He asked law Prof. Turley if Obama can suspend immigration laws why can't he also suspend election laws.

Didn't Hitler have himself appointed dictator for life?

Term limits with such appointments can be a real bitch... :fuelfire:

Johnny, IIRC on the history, it was somewhat more complicated than that, and owed a lot to some peculiarities of Weimar Republic law, the nature of Parliamentary government, and 'Emergency Laws' rammed through in the wake of the Reichstag fire. Our system doesn't really share the first two, and although the Patriot Act shows Congress can pass some pretty wild laws under dire circumstances, so far there hasn't ever been anything from our Congress giving the President the kind of unchecked, sweeping authority that Hitler got.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear cries from the DUmmies et al that term limits are a racist attempt to kick a black man out of the White House when he still has more work (damage) to do on the Country.

Back in 2004, the DUmmies were apoplectic over the idea that Bush* would declare "marshal" law in order to indefinitely postpone the election.
