SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Federal authorities on Thursday charged FedEx with assisting illegal pharmacies by knowingly delivering painkillers and other dangerous drugs to customers without prescriptions.

UPS and Amazon have already settled claims.

(Cock)Holder & the gang are reaching.

In order to win this case, they're going to have to prove that a) FedEx SHOULD have known whether the medications they were delivering were prescribed for the recipient(s) they delivered them to (HIPPA theoretically makes it impossible for anyone not a doctor or pharmacy to know that) and b) that having that responsibility, FedEx chose instead to "look the other way" for whatever reason (continued revenue stream, presumably).

This reeks of a shakedown, if you ask me...

About all FedEx would know if they had a DEA # or NPI #

I wonder if any drugs get shipped through the USPS?  Would they hold them responsible for illegal drugs?  Oh wait, there have been several people arrested for mailing drugs and the USPS was never held accountable.

Good Question. Maybe the fake online pharmacies were simply using FedEx or UPS? I have a feeling the USPS makes sure the mail order drug companies they work for are legit.
As far as trying to ship your grandma an eight ball of coke, I don't think any shipper could be liable for that unless they refused to participate in any investigation.

There's an idea. Start an herb of the month club for CC members. Everyone signs up and sends some new, but totally legal spice or dried seasoning through the USPS. Small boxes or bubble envelopes with Ziploc baggies in them.

Every package would show up opened by the time it was delivered. :)
