Title: The un-United States of California
Post by: longview on July 15, 2014, 09:28:47 PM
Venture capitalist, Timothy Draper, is promoting a scheme to divide California into six states.  Among other things, he and other supporters, say it would give areas more local control.

Detractors say the attempt will hurt the California "brand" and is unnecessary since things are on the upswing.

Well, I personally wouldn't live in California for any salary or any wage.

BUT, for the people who live there who believe they're not represented, I think this proposal sounds attractive.

There apparently are pockets of sanity in that state and splitting it up into areas more reflective of the people and where they live -- hey, if you're a fan of California (I'm not), that just might reduce the political impact of the nutcases and crazy leftist loons that appear to be all over the state except in those pockets.

On the other hand, if Silicon Valley becomes the richest state in the country, that's where the power will go. And Silicon Valley isn't known for its conservative principles either.

The democrat party will not allow any reduction in the power of a crazy California from where they get so many electoral votes.

Which certainly explains why out of 220 attempts to bust up that monopoly, zip, zero, nada success.

Looking at the map, from what I can see, the Dhimmi'Rats may have had a substantial hand in drawing these gerrymandered boundary lines. If those were adopted as drawn, I can see at least 3 (West California, North California and Silicon Valley) - possibly 4 (South California)- of those "states" being solid blue shitholes. Problem is that each of those regions contain large areas of red, but each is shackled to a very large, Dhimmi'Rat dominated urban population.  Hell, I wouldn't put any bets on Central California being any better than a weak purple, when everything shakes out.

Yeah, it probably means that the California representatives get divided up among the new states, but instead of JUST Babs Boxer and Di-Fi in the Senate, there are at least 4 - and possibly 6 - more Communist cocksuckers in that "senior" legislative body.  Enough to change the power dynamic in the senate, and perhaps permit the Progressive sunzabitches to run away with their agenda when aided and abetted by RINOs. (Note: I haven't even gotten into the changes in the Electoral College dynamic.)

I don't want the coastal states to have more Senators.

I think it's funny that decentralization was mentioned as a benefit.  Californians have voted in the overwhelming mess of a state government they currently have.

Good points, and h5. Certainly bears examination.

I know next to nothing about Commiefornia other than most of it is a liberal shithole into which law-abiding peeps are compelled to pour their money. And the last damned thing we need is six more liberal shithole politicians festering up D.C. even beyond the cesspool it already is.

Compare the map above to this one:

This is what makes this map and the changes it proposes, so dangerous.  There are large regions of California that are solid conservative red (The region labeled 'Jefferson' on the map is one, Central California, and the eastern portions of South California are others).  those red areas though, are largely the agricultural areas of California; meaning they're very sparsely populated.

Understand that this isn't an attempt to BREAK the power block of California's electoral college votes, but to EXPAND it. 12 Senate seats to control instead of 2. California's 55 electoral college votes would be initially expanded to 65, with the more populous coastal Dhimmi'Rat shitholes taking the lion's share of them.  This is taking those solid red areas and dividing them up, the effect being to make Commie-fornia even more Dhimmi'Rat blue than it would be otherwise.

My guess, is that the Dhimmi'Rats have internal polling on the mid-terms that shows them losing the Senate big-time, and this is their counter to that.  Notice how it's put forward by a businessman/venture capitalist - probably a deliberate attempt to make the idea look like it originated a "conservative".

Nailed it D6. The whole "State of Jefferson" push, while seeming "interesting" is a power play by Dumborats. Most people don't realize how they want to cut up the state.

Dumb idea, really dumb.
