Getting myself ready for Hobby Lobby protest in the D.C. area
Hope to hell I don't get lost. I have absolutely NO sense of direction. LOL!
Will take some photos today and hopefully post them tonight.
Ready to give 'em hell!!

7. Perfect
Include some photos, maybe statements from women who need bc pills for medical reasons, even acne can be graphic and maybe the right tactic. I have to pay for pills to cure my acne, but HL pays for …insert something here… maybe viagra or even some dermatology drug
.
:mental:
Huge turnout! Almost 20 people!!!!!!!!!!!!!

21. I'm back!
Reporting in after a short nap. I am old and decrepit, y'know.
I think the protest went quite well, though I would like to have seen more participants. We had about 20 folks show up plus some others who just happened across the protest and decided to join in. The leader of the group led the chants and had plenty of signs ready for everyone.
No trouble and only one encounter with police, who asked us to move farther away from the HL entrance (yes, it does appear HL at least is granted a buffer zone.) Quite a few folks drove by honking their horns or pumping their fists in support. The one truly negative reaction came from a young couple in a sports car, who stopped only long enough to roll down the window so the woman inside could scream, "abortion is murder!". Well, um... yes, they probably had no idea what we were protesting but screaming about abortion always seems to be the standard reply from that crowd, who probably would have responded the same way had they encountered a Girl Scout cookie sale. Anyway, after that outburst they hit the gas and sped away.
Spread the word about democratic underground and am confident some folks from the protest will check us out, including the core group from defendwomensrights.org (Please check out their site and support them!) There was at least one other DUer there and I wish I had gotten her onscreen handle. She even fashioned her own sign. Hopefully she'll check in here.
The demographics of the protest was quite varied, though I would like to have seen more college-age women. On my end of the line there were some fine women who were real protest vets, along with some young men who may have been college folk. Damn, they were such good fellows, adorable and very attentive to my particular situation, as I spent most of the protest from the seat of my mobile walker. The heat got to me rather quickly, so one of the young men offered to take some photos for me as my hands were shaking pretty badly by then. Hope to download those pics and get them up for y'all tomorrow. We also had a trio of lovely women from the deaf community who were among the first to arrive. I was also pleased to see solid support from the LGBT community!
This protest is only the beginning and I hope the movement will only grow. Please follow defendwomensrights.org for updates and if you can, rise up and join in!
That's the short report for now. Any questions?
Edited to add: No, I didn't get lost on my way getting there, but did take a couple of wrong turns on the way back. You know you really are directionally challenged when you get lost even with a GPS!
Guess what I found on Twitter, it actually had one retweet!

remember our facebook discussion on this? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
Really, I think someone should have their internet totally disconnected and banned for a while if they keep repeating this absolute rubbish of what the issue is about. So tired of the these idiots not only misstating what they wouldn't cover, but comparing a medication(usually not covered by the way per RJ) for sexual DYSFUNCTION to birth control pills when the female equivalent for sexual dysfunction(estrogen therapy) is covered, but the male version isn't or not as widely covered. ****ing idiots-excuse my language.
-
Don't let the head count in the picture fool you, as it may not even be that high.
Some hags held a protest at an area Hobby Lobby near me, with around ~30 in attendance. Upon closer inspection, it turns out that half of the people who were there were actually holding up signs in favor of the SC decision.

I know, right? Now they are including "acne" which is normally treated with Doxycycline, an antibiotic or some very pricey name brand topical treatments. :stoner:

Well if they figure it is related to pms hormones, some women do get it to help treat that, but as I understand it is the rare female who takes bc pills(with all their side effects) exclusively for it's benefit to acne. What she probably isn't saying is that she has Polycystic Ovarian Syndome and the acne that goes with it and her PCOS is managed with bc pills and it has a pleasant side effect of controlling her acne. All that said, her shit is no doubt STILL covered under the Hobby Lobby plan. Stupid, stupid, stupid! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Paid to protest? :yahoo:
-
Well, I counted 24 people (+/-1 or 2) in that pic. And 4 or 5 of them might be customers. So that 20 plus walk-ups seems a bit optimistic.

True on the side effect. Of course most DUmmies just need to wash their face. :lmao:

Has anyone from Hobby Lobby actually complained about the company covering 15 or 16 forms of contraception, just not the aborticides?
Or are these losers protesting about a ruling that doesn't actually affect them?
Protesting even though none of them actually work a job??

A DUmmy and simple math are on opposite ends of the spectrum.

Sounds like they had financial backing and this wasn't just a grassroots protest.
-
DC area huh?
Not exactly known as a conservative place and all you can get are a dozen or so to show up.
Then to lament that there were almost none of the demographic supposedly "affected".
Take a hint you clueless idiots...any issue or event you start screaming like rabid badgers over one can be assured that the normal, general public either doesn't care or thinks just the opposite.

This just proves just how much grey matter you don't have.
The four drugs/devices not paid for by HL are for abortifacients. Because your so uninformed (or stupid) an abortifacient's purpose is to cause a fertilized egg or fetus to die. Just so you know, birth control pills are something you use to prevent the pregnancy in the first place, not after the fact.

They couldn't give a rat's hind quarters about the ruling, really. What has them in hysterics is that Pro-Life Evangelical Christians won, and that their religious freedoms were recognized by the SCOTUS! If the Little Sisters of the Poor also win their lawsuit the shrillness of the hysteria will go up another 10 or 20 decibels.

Most people pay cash for Plan B as it's been available over the counter for some time, you just had to ask for it. Now it sits on the shelf. Due to the needing to take the drug right away, which is simply a stronger form of b/c that starts a woman's cycle. most don't bother going to the doctor, paying their copay or facing a high deductible and just pay for it. It's pretty hard to get a doctor's appointment on short notice without going to an Urgent Care or the E Room..... It's actually easier to get then ever before!
-
From the moment I first laid eyes on that primitive I knew she had no need for any birth control.
-

Back in the day of dead-tree skewspapers the San Jose Mercury News had an area in the want-ads jobs section for "Activists". IOW, paid protesters - the Rent-A-Mob.

This Honey Lobby business is so boring!!
And it's another three weeks before the world's foremost authority is released from Purgatory.

Yeah.
And I really really really hate to admit it, but I miss the cousin.

Yeah.
And I really really really hate to admit it, but I miss the cousin.
I wonder if those that alerted on nads feel ashamed of themselves yet?

I wonder if those that alerted on nads feel ashamed of themselves yet?
But if they do, they shouldn't.
As much as I miss her, it's good for the cousin to be humbled once in a while; she might learn something from it.
-

No! It was great, and a richly deserved humiliation for the rude, condescending toad.
In the meantime, we have to endure a boring DUmp full of incompetent, hateful lunatics who only rarely come up with any entertaining material.
For nadin, absurd, unintentionally hilarious posts are a second nature.
One hopes she'll come back from her embarrassing exile with a vengeance, treating her fellow DUmmies with even more arrogant contempt than before.
-
Frank, I agree with GOBUCKS--she won't have learned a thing. She'll be worse than before, if that's possible.
-
She'll be worse than before, if that's possible.
I think, considering it's the cousin, yeah, it's possible.

The 3 in the last picture sure don`t have to worry about needing birth control. :puke:

For two reasons. Fat and ugly. Could be three but pictures don't give off an odor.

Curious why 3 menopausal and/or post-menopausal women, one of which at least may be a lesbian have any say so in this issue. The thing I hear from many of these hose bags is that men should have no say so in this debate since they can't get pregnant, well neither can post menopausal and/or lesbian females. Neither of these two groups of individuals can conceive and certainly won't do so with an 'oopsie' with their partners considering the circumstances of either/both situations.
My apologies for our own women beyond this age, you know I am pointing this out because post-menopausal and lesbians seem to be the most shrill in my experience on both this and abortions. The only skin I can see in a lesbian's game is the desire to cover up amorous dealings with a man they had behind their girlfriend's back...the other's I don't get.
