Hello. I used to be a long-time DU'er. From 2002 to 2010.
Many of you remember me as Hawkeye-X. I admit many variations of "sock puppets" - when I'm really trying to come back as me, as Skinner the Third Way toady (if you don't know - research his background and you'd be surprised) has decided to purge and backstab true progressives from posting in DU.
My last real DU username was Panasonic. It managed to survive for about six months. Before I got banned. For what, I still don't know, and I asked for an honest explanation and still wasn't given one.
So I have seen the real problem, and it is the DU itself that's collapsing. I wanted and still do want to make a progressive website, but the problem is uniting Democrats/progressives back into the same page as everyone else. There has been a horrible amount of misogynousy, bigotry and racism and it has been acceptable since 2010. Why? Because after Obama was elected, we didn't have anything to unite about because everyone wanted to get their agenda in, and letting the corporations take over.
I backed Gore, and came to Democratic Underground through Will Pitt, and I still love that cheeky bastard enough to friend him and mock his Patroits. I enjoy reading Pitt's article and I'm glad it's not just confined to DU. He posts everywhere - including Facebook. Many people do not realize that Facebook has been a excellent source of information other than DU. Social media has helped me get out of the echo chamber I'm in, and fight with the others and gives me an opportunity to teach them. I do not need DU to tell me what to do. I can decide for myself. I thought I found a oasis of blue in a very toxic political environment. How wrong I was. it's a deep purple shading towards red. I have seen many long time DU'ers banned. And for no reasons either except factions. DU factions. We said years ago that we would never be like Free Republic, and yet, we are acting just like they are. Same pattern. Same shaft. Same non-excuses. I am amazed on how they are hanging on with the drop of the number of donations to David Allen, David Allsop and Brian Leitner. As they were making money, they forgot their own principles. That shames me. It was all about the name of the almighty dollars.
If Skinner wants me to use this as a sounding board to see what's going on at DU on his own board, then he has succeeded, but at a great risk of alieniating everyone. And one important member is Nadin Brzenzki (sorry Nadin if I misspelled your name!) was recently given the shaft. And for what purpose does Skinner give, Nadin, a very long time DU'er and a good friend, the shaft because of some faction of DU that clutches pearls because she said something that was verboten in the Third Way World.
Well, I say to this - I'm not sure if it's going to the jury, but if it does, I would recommend that the jurors take a long look at

2. Nadin happens to be a very important journalist
covering important topics, and should not get the suspension or review or whatever the hell they call it.
But it's hypocrisy when the same standard is not applied uniformly.

Gee, why would a forum owner not simply love a hospitality-abusing multi-offending sock-puppeting banishee/returnee?!

At DUmp ll, in the disability section, most of the posts were like a scam the system 101 class. They use to talk openly on how healthy people could collect SSDI. They offered tips on how to apply, how to appeal and what to say in the interview.
