We've gotta help Detroit residents pay their water bills. Anybody familiar with Kickstarter or ....
... other means of helping these poor people get their water turned back on????

4. If they do, we need to help those people too. Access to clean water is a human right.

6. I think you sign up, post info and a video, and off it goes
The hard part's the video. Only a minute or so is OK, I think. Maybe someone on DU knows how to do this?
I believe that you need to set a minimum amount for your campaign on kickstarter - if you don't pass that amount, the money goes back to the people who pledge. Indiegogo is similar but without the minimum amount part.
It's a really cool idea!
How do you plan to verify need and disburse the funds? Who are the officers? Will you be incorporating or will Scuba be accepting all liabilities personally?

How do you not pay your water bill? It's like $20 a month.

It's middle of summer, I'm watering my lawn every day now, and we are theoretically in the middle of a drought here in the Salt Lake valley: my water bill for last month was $9.50. :whatever:

Wishadupe!!
Send money so stewert can get his utilities turned on.
We have relatives in a Chicago suburb who irrigate a half-acre lawn. Water bill goes way over $200 a month.
I think a nice lawn is a human right, so I hope when the DUmmies collect water to help blue-state victims pay their water bill, they won't forget the suburbs.

I'm sending them white light. If you DUmmies will send me a few bucks to cover my costs I'll even scan them some photos of my hands.

Is there a t-shirt I can sign? Maybe some posterboard.

My brother spent $150 on a 500-gallon runoff capture tank/system for his house. A single summer storm will fill the tanks with plenty left over.

Is the white light tax-deductible?

No.
Nor is it transferable onto an EBT card.

Oh, wait.
The DUmmies want money, supposedly to pay water bills in Detroit.
Let me see what I can come up with for the DUmmies...

You are far too generous, Big Dog. Let me help with your donation... :cheers1:

Access to clean water is a basic human right ?
What, there's no public water fountains in Detroit ?
In this day and age, in our country if you can't figure out how not to die of dehydration regardless of your ability to pay, you have really gotten yourself into another fine mess.

Maybe Scuba can get Moochelle to hold up a sign that says #turn the water back on

Detroit is right on Lake St.Claire. How hard would it be to GET your own damned water??

Read an article and saw a picture of a 400 pound Obama voter in Detroit that can't pay her water bill......but she can afford bottled water to wash dishes in. If you can afford to buy enough bottled water to cook and wash in for a week, you can afford to pay your water bill for a month and get a hell of a lot more water.

Poor people are poor due to making stupid decisions such as that.
