This is from my own post in another thread. I used to go to Vegas all the time. Most people in Iowa ( that I talk to) have no idea about the whats and whyfors of the desert town calls Las Vegas.

Vegas is a fun place, and any help we can offer our fellow CCers is a service well rendered.

Other people win big at slots but not me. So I have this system. I budget money to lose. When that is gone, I do free stuff for the rest of the day. When I would drive in from Phoenix, I would have just $60 to lose, and it was enough.
--the key to my system is to gamble with THEIR money and not yours!
1) go to the nickel and penny slots. Play the max (so it really quarter and dimes).
-->always play the max.
Put in your twenty into the machine. The machine will "tease" you with small wins. Typically 40-60 dollars. CASH OUT. You are NOT on a roll, there is NO jackpot in your future. If you make twice what you put in, cash out.
2) Lets say you win $60. Fine put the twenty back in your "to lose" pocket. You are not down any thing at this point. Now go to the dollar slots. Every credit you win is a dollar. Put in $40 dollars. Wait for the "tease." A typical tease is $80-$90 bucks.
CASH OUT. You are NOT on a roll, you are NOT going to hit a jack pot.
Put the money in your winning pocket, and forget about it.
3) what if you lose the $40 bucks? Its their money, not yous, no big deal.
4) Go back to the nickel and penny slots, and get some more money to gamble with.
Rinse and repeat.
In three hours I won $360 dollars and still had my $60 to lose!
The best Buffet is at the Rio, it was $30 a head when I was there. And the cocktail Waitresses are pretty hot too.

Free stuff....
You can get a voucher for a free dinner ($140) or show tickets if you're willing to spend time at a time share sales pitch. They only offer to married couples. Tahiti Village...a really cheesy sales routine that we were promised would take 2 hours....actually took 4 hours. Part of the pitch is that they have a restaurant on site...supposed to be fancy....was a Denny's. :whatever: Oh well, the dinner that evening was great. Their kiosk is on the second level of New York, New York at the bridge leading over to MGM.

Whenever I go to Vegas I stay at the 4 Queens. Hitting the Strip is nice but you can't beat Fremont St.

The only place I have stayed at for a period of time is at the Golden Nugget on Fremont street. I went with a group pf people that included my parents that belongs to a travel club run by our local bank. We got to see all of the big places on and off the strip and one day I even drove some of them arouns in a van for the day and got paid for it. One of the last stops was at the Bellagio before going to a place over near the Rio. They had a show there going and the tickets for us were already paid for. It was a three woman act of country and western singers that would do impersonations of famous female singers like Reba.
The second time I went to vegas I was only there for 10 hours and had to make do with the time so I went to a place where I could pay a fee for a day and used thier hot tub for three hours while I waited to get back to Ft. Irwin on the bus. they charged $50 for the day membership and it turned out to be alot better then I had planned. I put a link to the place here but it would be NSFW so I'll just leave it out.

Did they claim the meal at Denny's was worth $140?
Any of the strip Casinos are full of those kiosks...someone is always in your face trying to sell you something...they all unique verbage and tactics, but it's all the same...."Sir are you just checking into the hotel? Do you need some free show tickets that are only for our guests?"...and of course the guy does not even work for the hotel..the best thing to do is not even make eye contact with these monkeys.
My advice, don't stay on the strip.

Eh, I'm not likely to return to Vegas. Checked it off my bucket list. The voucher was for Gallaghers...best steaks I've ever had.

They had alot of neat stuff going on there this weekend.
But rooms were hard to find, and when you did find one $$$$$
