What's for Dinner, Sat., June 14, 2014

I'm dining out twice today, which I consider a just reward for having endured two complete days of household repairs and improvements this week. Lots of things fixed, and that feels great!

First is our union meeting, which is a buffet. I know some of what's being served, since I helped with the menu: chicken with sundried tomatoes, shitakes, and smoked ham in marsala sauce and beef in peppercorn sauce are two that come to mind.

Later in the day, I pick up the RG who is coming in from TX and we're going to dinner with a friend at our favorite Portuguese restaurant. I'm thinking calamari.

Galileo, hope your ovens are fixed, yes?

Brand new thread, no primitive responses yet.

<<<busy battening down the hatches, because the whole state of Nebraska's forecast to be the exact center--the whole state--of an unusually violent streak of storms starting circa late this afternoon.  It's supposed to make the hailstorm of a couple of weeks ago look like a drizzle.

<<<expects the internet to go out.

<<<but hopes it doesn't go out until finds out if the Galileo primitive got his stove fixed.

Also, dear old sweet Lu hasn't been on the job since last Saturday.

Too early, it's not even noon and the DUmmies haven't come out of their Friday night stupors yet.

You're right.

You know, there was a time when by this time, there would've been, like, 28 responses.

But now the cooking and baking primitives, when they notice dear old sweet Lu isn't topic-starting and commenting, think to themselves, "Well, if the hostess isn't doing her job, why should I bother?" and then go on to something else.

1. Way too early to think about dinner.

Hmmm.

The miffed primitive must live in one of those Alaska or Hawaii time-zones.

Pterodactyl-sized chicken breasts from Oscar's, done on the grill.  Not sure what else--that's my wife's decision. :-)

It's been a long time since DUmmy NJCher planned for a stew.

Long overdue.

And we need pictures.

Shitakes? If the above was from a normal person, I'd just assume that she had misspelled shiitake mushrooms, but this is a DUmmie. Did she mean the mushroom or are they making some sort of something with turds now?

It's called a 'sandwich,' and the Dems are trying to serve it to the American people. :pokingpoop:
