Bergdahl’s writings reveal his fragile state long before leaving base
a cut and paste from the Washington Post- that VRWC bastion of news...
“I am the lone wolf of deadly nothingness,†he wrote in one journal entry.
Oooo... deep.

1. I feel bad for the guy
He was obviously sensitive and troubled. And after the long ordeal of captivity, he's now made into a political football. I have no idea about whether he's guilty of anything, but I feel bad for him. Sucks.
All he needs to be is teh ghey and the DUmpmonkies will start signing Horst Wessel Bergdalh Lied!

2. Dang fool should never have enlisted
We really need a civil service option instead of just scooping up any citizens to be cannon fodder in the military..
We have one. He chose not to do that though.

16. They definitely loosened the requirements
The big loosening was in "moral" requirements - criminal pasts and things such as that. You know that big dent in the sidewalk next to the recruiting station in your hometown, that showed up 'round about 2005? Well son, that got there because the Army Recruiters chucked the Group W bench off the roof. Yessir, they picked up that one-ton granite Group W Bench, told all the mother stabbers and father rapers to grab hold, and they hauled it up the fire stairs to the roof. They chucked that Group W Bench off the roof just as hard as they could. Took out four pigeons and a black-hooded crow on the way down, yes it did. And then you know what they did with all the father rapers and mother stabbers who were a-sittin' on the Group W Bench? That's right, they Put Them Right In The Army!
And now the Army has to figure out how to get rid of them. Because not only have they continued mother stabbing and father raping, they're reenlisting!
Uh, yeah... No. At no time during the last 14 years did the military allow felons to enlist in the military. It's one more "BIG LIE" the left will sing for the next several years.

15. With everything known about him, including his walking away from his base in this country
one has to wonder why he was sent to Afghanistan.
But, then, without a draft, we have to scrape the bottom of the barrel to keep all the troops in useless wasteful wars.
Yup. That is how the left will be spinning the veterans of the war on terror. Ex-felons forced into service. Mentally ill. Violent. Troubled youth raised by totalitarian fundamentalist christians...
I am waiting for a re-make of Rambo set in 2017 featuring a returning Afghan vet.

Well, congratulations, you have proven beyond all possible doubt that you have absolutely no knowledge of the American military in the post-Carter years.

Do these morons not realize we've been an 'all volunteer force' since 1974?? :banghead: If you object to the military on moral grounds, and service is not compulsory, then WHY JOIN?! Their arrogance and stupidity amazes me.

I see jmowreader hasn't come down yet from his "Alice's Restaurant" acid trip.
You can get anything you want
At Alice's Restaurant
('ceptin' Alice)
But he got the lines wrong. It was "mother rapers" as well as "father rapers". Some libs really think that part of the song is still true (assuming it ever was).

Lack of jobs? Doesn't seem to be a lot of work in the US for anyone which allows a person to pay corporate rent and corporate utilities. The military is a place to go.
Anyone ever consider this man may have had PTSD? You know, that condition you get when you spend a lot of time in a war zone with little to no relief because so many people are NOT joining the military?

Are you suggesting that Bergdahl was suffering from PTSD?
Bergdahl graduated from infantry school in Fort Benning, Georgia in late 2008.
According to fellow soldier Specialist Jason Fry, Bergdahl was quiet: "He wasn't one of the troublemakers – he was focused and well-behaved." Bergdahl was more isolated from his fellow soldiers; for instance, rather than socializing with his peers during Thanksgiving, he preferred studying maps of Afghanistan. Bergdahl told Fry before their deployment to Afghanistan, "If this deployment is lame, I'm just going to walk off into the mountains of Pakistan.
Show premeditation to desert.
In February 2009 the 501st deployed for the second time to eastern Afghanistan as a part of Regional Command East, International Security Assistance Force.
1. On June 25, 2009, Bergdahl's battalion suffered its first casualty.
2. On June 27, 2009, according to Hastings, Bergdahl sent an e-maiÂl to his parents before he was captured.
3. Sometime after midnight on June 30, 2009, Bergdahl left behind a note in his tent saying he had become disillusioned with the Army, did not support the American mission in Afghanistan, and was leaving to start a new life.
Pretty short time line to catch the PTSD and write a note and send an e-mail home and then desert... unless that was his plan all along.

If all you at doing is joining the military for '3 hots and a cot', you made the wrong decision. The military is there to fight the nation's wars, PERIOD. You want to 'make a difference'? Join the $%&ing peace corps.

He will probably take a cue from recent events. If he ends up in legal hot water, he can change his name and start wearing a dress.

We've gotten no where near the bottom of the barrel when it comes to the troops. When we start enlisting DUmbasses then we will have reached that point.

I hate when the libs use the term cannon fodder. They don't know the genesis of the phrase, and they always intentionally or otherwise use it to disparage the military or the troops or both.
-
Lack of jobs?
The Army had no problem finding recruits when the unemployment rate was 4.7 percent. IT's not because there is a lack of jobs that people join.
That's a myth perpetuated by Progressives who lack the spine to do what soldiers do.
Doesn't seem to be a lot of work in the US for anyone which allows a person to pay corporate rent and corporate utilities.
Gee and I wonder who's fault THAT is?
The military is a place to go.

Homeboy got booted from the bloody Coast Guard after less than a month at Cape May on a psych. So then he goes and joins the Army and ends up in an Airborne unit? What, cause that's easier than the Coast Guard?
He didn't have PTSD. He had NFB (No ****ing Brain).

We are lucky he didn't harm anyone including himself.
unless of course the stories about him helping the Taliban are true...

22. Seriously. He could have snapped in a violent/suicidal way. Maybe walking away
was the pressure relief valve that kept him from doing so.
My bet is still on a Presidential pardon before the military can start to try him for desertion and treason.

Surprise, surprise another liberal that thinks the military is made up of losers that couldn't find a job elsewhere. :thatsright: How very 60's of you. Most studies have shown they come from upper mid-income families and top tier academically. If you'd like to know where a lot of losers who can't find or hold a job, may I introduce you to a little place called Democratic Underground.

OH HELL NO !!!!!!
For some strange reason this thread just reminded me of an old TV candy commercial jingle.
"Some times you feel like a nut, some times you don't.
Almond joy has nuts, Mounds don't"
Now that tune/jingle will be bouncing around in my head all day.

Liberal logic.
The uncontested masters of the non-sequitur. But then, they don't even have to try. Their entire worldview is a fallacy, wrapped up inside of a false premise and tied together with barely literate lies.

25. Gotta wonder if he was bullied/hazed by his fellow soldiers?
I've speculated that he was bullied into leaving/defecting...and the "search" for him was more of a "hunt."
Another leftist wonk who has no concept of what the military is about or like.
