I'm not sure what kind of spin this will get from the Ku Klux Klams as it tends to disrupt their victimology narrative but at the same time they can't heap condemnation on top
My guess it will probably get some sort of response one sees whenever a story of a womyn acting in a decidedly asshole-ish modality emerges: it will be explained -- with no small measure of venom and panicked-froth -- that one story doth not a trend make and this is a subversive attempt to undermine vaginal issues (pun intended).
The important thing is women never forget they're victims and men never forget they're evil.

Stained frontman stops show after girl getting assaulted in crowd
Yeah, yeah, I know the source:
"During a Saturday concert in Kansas City, Staind frontman Aaron Lewis put his band’s performance on hold to go off on audience members who were allegedly touching a teenage girl inappropriately as she crowd-surfed. The singer’s explosive rant was captured on video.
“Alright, listen up, you f***ing a**holes,†Lewis began after stopping the show in the middle of a song. “That f***ing girl right there is, like, 15 f***ing years old, and you f***ing pieces of s**t are molesting her while she’s on the f***ing crowd.â€
He then told the alleged offenders that their mothers “should be ashamed of themselves.â€
“You should all be f***ing beaten down by everyone around you for being f***ing pieces of s**t. If I f***ing see that s**t again, I swear to god, I will point you out in the crowd and have everyone around you beat your f***ing a**.â€"

she was signed up to party with the band afterwards. he didn't want her ruined.

Well, kudos to him for speaking up to stop something that looked abusive and wrong to him. I'm sure the KKKlams will have another take on it entirely, of course.

Doubt it. Aaron Lewis, regardless of the profanity, is a standup guy that grew up hard, drugged out, and with a lot of regrets. All that changed with the birth of his first daughter. She actually saved his life because he'd probably be dead had she not been born. He completely changed his life.

3. Good for him!
What the HELL makes guys think this is OK? Have they been living under a ****ing rock their whole lives? Have they NEVER had a woman they respect? This kind of stuff just makes my blood boil.
redqueen (107,056 posts)
4. I'm sure most know women they respect. They think of those women as people.
They see girls like the one they molested, and many other girls and women, as sex objects. Less than human. Just things to be ogled, harassed, or used.
BlancheSplanchnik (10,631 posts)
39. Yep. that's why defenses of women often are phrased in terms of "someone's Mother,
Daughter, Sister, ...." etc.
How many times have we heard guys say they suddenly developed empathy once they had a daughter?
Because without that identifying tag linking us to a guy, guys have a real hard time thinking of women and girls as fellow human beings.
And, once you've got tingly man parts in the equation, cognition, respect, empathy goes right into the dumpster.

10. Only in America in these modern times: defending a young girl's "honor" with an obscenity laden rant.

13. Honor? He stopped men from sexual assaulting a teenager.
Unreal...

49. WOW. Hard to make any comment on D.U. anymore w/o offending someone or having it
taken the wrong way. 1) the comment was tongue in cheek. 2) the comment was bemused musing (if you understand what that is). 3) the comment should have been self-explanatory in context. 4) "honor" was used in quotes for want of a better word. 5) since when do quotation marks denote "scary" WTF? 6) there was no demeaning of the disrespect to the young woman, the comment was NOT about that. 7) the language was NOT offensive to me personally, which should have been clear. 8) the comment was JUST A PERSONAL REFLECTION on the irony of the overuse of the word F**K these days, and especially ironic within the context of the situation. I was shocked to see the number of replies so quickly. I was more shocked to see how misunderstood my comment was, and how the irony was completely missed by most, even with my further explanation concerning the use of such language in the modern day.

At least in civilized countries it doesn't.

have to do with "honor," in part
geek tragedy (38,692 posts)
54. sexual assault has NOTHING to do with the honor of the victim.
NOTHING.
A woman or girl does not lose her 'honor' because some pig assaults them.
This is the 21st century, not the 16th.
How can you possibly not understand this?
He protected the girl/victim. He didn't protect anything of hers, he protected her.
A woman's body is not some thing that can be separated from her as a person.

quotation marks around-- honor?

For the same reason they have a problem with wealth.
They'll never have any of their own.

What was a 15 year old girl doing putting herself in that position in the first place? Wouldn't a woman kind of expect some unexpected touching while crowd surfing at a concert? From what I've heard, the audiences generally aren't very sober.
-
Wouldn't a woman kind of expect some unexpected touching while crowd surfing at a concert?
I'm pretty sure that's the whole purpose of crowd surfing.
-
To what Gobucks said, Yes...I think you go into a concert like this kind of expecting a certain amount of silliness that goes along with it. My guy and I just saw Staind at ROR along with a ton of other bands who lyrics would send the Klu Klux Klams into an early grave if their whining didn't do it before then. Songs including The Bitch is Back, Bad Girlfriend, etc. Hell the Pretty Reckless(Cindy Lou Who now rebelling) and Kid Rock was there and of course sang American Bad Ass. It's a pretty raunchy environment at times--at least the songs can be--and if you stay clear of the field, front and center, you are fine so gals can stay away from all that action. For the record, I have it on authority from my daughter's boyfriend that the mosh pit was not exactly friendly to guys either--many were shoved back in when trying to exit. It's a rough place to be--just don't go down in the field front and center and you avoid all the nonsense of the immature.
While I get it being objectionable to Aaron Lewis(who I happen to enjoy immensely as a singer), he signed up for tours with the kind of bands singing the kind of lyrics I mentioned serving a shitload of alcohol at shows. He went on the same rant by the way at ROR so not sure if this is kind of his schtik now if he sees it or not or what. I can tell you the same number of women being grabbed was at least equal to the ones testing their bead receiving acumen for Fat Tuesday celebrations and I'll leave it there.
What Rebel said, acknowledged. I think that was the case for my guy too when his oldest son came along--total change of lifestyle. It happens, but I guess sometimes people in it have to realize ethey might change but that scene doesn't change with them.
As a side note for the KluKluxKlams...I'll be seeing Theory of a Deadman(a band you all would hate who played at ROR too the same weekend as Staind) again in late June with my guy. Can't wait and I'll be singing along. Long live rock;-)

From Spinal Tap you should add "Sex Farm" and "Lick My Love Pump".
The Klams would love those.
The original Spinal Tap guys (minus their drummer, who spontaneously combusted) toured in 2009.
It was a great show, but no crowd surfing at the Ryman Auditorium.

I saw that tour. The Freeze Frame tour. Damned good show. My wife and I also saw a reunion tour, of sorts, of them in 1999. Ya know something? They really hadn't lost much. Still a damned good show.

Off topic of this 15 year old (I commend the singer for saying what he did) but woman do a good job of sexualizing themselves. I posted this video on my FB because I love a Toni Braxton's music (and I love this song). Someone here didn't like the video too much though... :-)

Here's a Aaron Lewis vid that had the DUmp's panties in a bunch a couple years ago, with a little help from Chris Young, Charlie Daniels, and the late George Jones:

Have they freaked out on Putin yet? :rotf:
Russian President Vladmir Putin struck back yesterday at former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for comparing his actions in Ukraine to those of Hitler, saying that ‘it’s better not to argue with women’.
According to a Kremlin transcript, the Russian leader went on to suggest that Clinton is weak, and added that ‘maybe weakness is not the worst quality for a woman'.
‘But when I hear such extreme statements, to me it only means that they don’t have any valid arguments,’ Putin said in an interview with reporters from Radio Europe 1 and French TV channel TF1.

And now a word about "honor"
One day an court the judge addressed me, and I said...
"Your honor...
She offered her honor,
I honored her offer,
And all night long,
I was on her,
And Off her."

so what Big Band stars did you nail? :bolt:
Two actually, one was Tiny Tim and he was not so tiny in the sack.
The other was Jerry Lee Lewis back in the day at 14 I was too old for him and not related to him.
Strange how woman's and girls taste evolves through the decades. Never could understand why as a teen or adult why females went all ga-ga over these males that looked like at 5'10" they weighed 110 pounds and had not eaten in a week.
I soon found Country music where the men looked like MEN, strong and beefy, a sound that was deep and heavy.
Growing up female I wanted a big strong man to sire my children, not a male with a voice 3 octaves higher then mine.
Just joking about Tiny Tim and Jerry Lee, both would have turned me off at a young age.
I did meet in the mid 60's the Everley Brothers as they had served in the Marines with my boy friend. We got a back stage pass and I was so excided I threw up all over one of them. It was not their looks but the music they made was a passion on me.
I cannot think of any singer or band member that outside of country music turned me on. Not one movie star except Sam Elliot that for just his voice draws me in. Would I have had sex with him 30 years ago, no, I would have become content to just listen to him read the phone book.
Yupo men do not understand woman, I wonder why ?

It's that whole 'Insanity' thing, probably.
I grew up in a house filled with women and very little male guidance. By the age of ten, I was keenly aware that a large majority of them are insane.
Then puberty showed up and I forgot about all that.
-
We actually return to sanity after menopause--think of all the nice little old ladies that if not for their wrinkles are essentially as sweet as little girls. Vesta being the notable exception on the sanity thing;-)
