Hi, just wanted to say congrats to Reb and Chris and to whomever else was working to get you back up and running. It shows they can't hold good conservative groups down. We cooperate and overcome their attacks.
Great job, it's been so much fun having everyone back on CU, hope to still see you, but know that you feel better with the shoutbox and being home. Just don't forget to stop by and say hi and visit.

I've been doing web design and hosting for years as a sideline. - And even though web forums have declined in popularity since the advent of 'Social Media', I do have considerable experience with them ( My hosting business began around them ) including a special 'bag of tricks' I've developed to get heavily damaged forums back online with minimal loss of data. The truth is, people I don't even host come to me for help, and I still do what I can.
So I offered my services without hesitation, and that offer was accepted.
Fixing CC was actually pretty easy.
At this point, I'm down to a few annoying little tidbits - Tapatalk being one of them. Its clashing with something, but I have yet to discover what. Other than that, Its mostly graphics/template issues, such as moving the shoutbox back to the bottom.

conservativecave is run by volunteers, miskie, Rebel, and Chris_ being chief among them.
Everybody works for a living, usually more than just forty hours a week.
Members should list their problems here, or at

so as to keep the problems all in one (or two) places.
If you're having problems, yes, bring them up; by all means mention them.
But because everybody has other stuff going on in real life, while the problems may be noted, they might not be taken care of right away. Give our heroic workers time.
I'm satisifed if most problems are eliminated, or at least diminished, by next weekend.

The previous hosting "service" was part of the problem. Their complete failure to put in any kind of defense against that kind of attack was what happened to begin with, and then they just kicked CC off their server anyway. Rat bastards.
Something like that, anyway.
I think the method to donate has been, and I'd anticipate will be again, via Paypal. That shields the contributor and the recipient.

Wow it's good to see this site back. Many, many, many thanks to miskie and all the others who work so constantly and tirelessly to keep this the awesome place that it is.

It's good to be back--but SR and SLW did an awesome job hosting us. I'll be back over there a fair amount.

Edit: I just dropped a line on Conservative Political Forum letting folks know CC is back up. I know a few Cave people went over there for refuge.

The last change for the night involved cleaning up the database, putting my pile of redundant test sites, databases etc to bed, and finally fully enabling the site to run as fast as its capable of running.
(to those who care, it was running in fast-cgi mode, which serves well as a failsafe. its now backended by Nginx - with the amount of rapid fire database changes I was throwing at it, I didn't want to risk spinning the server out of control)
There are still things to do, but I'm tired to the point where its likely Ill make a mess of things, so those things can wait.

Judging by the strength of the attack (15GB/sec) and the number of conservative sites attacked at once, I'm guessing Anonymous.
