A Detroit teenager was charged with assault and a hate crime today over the brutal mob beating of a driver who stopped to help a boy he had accidentally hit with his pickup truck.
The 16-year-old boy, who has not been named, is the only one of five people charged in the April 2 attack on Steve Utash to face an ethnic intimidation count.
Mr Utash, a 54-year-old grandfather is white, and the teenager and four adults charged in his beating are black.
Terrible crime. It was stopped because a nurse had a gun.

She got her gun, she ran into the street, and she threw herself on top of a white man being beaten by a mob of black men.
“He was a man. He wasn’t white. He was a man. And I was ready to shoot anybody who hit that man again,†retired nurse Deborah Hughes told FOX2 News in Detroit.
The African-American woman was protecting Steve Utash, 54, a white man who accidently hit a 10-year-old boy with his truck last week and got out to see if the youngster was hurt.

Pretty cool to hear a story of good people in that city. Hope he recovers quickly and completely.

What surprises me is that the nurse was not charged with some kind of gun violation, questions of how she got her gun, was it registered, the gun grabbers will want to know.
The anti gun people may insist that her actions of threatening a crowd of people with death from a gun was worse then the people beating up one person.
Some of the kooks out there will probably find a way to twist the incidence to their benefit.
Demands from those who were just onlookers demanding she be arrested for threatening them
at gun point when THEY were just watching.
Strange world out there, never know when one good deed can get you sued.

Michigan has its problems, but at least it ain't California or the Northeast.
