Homeopathy is not woo. [View all]
Not all, anyway.
I know dozens of people who have benefited from accupuncture and diet alone. my emphasis
Please get off your high horse and open your perspectives.
Others notice that Dorkangel doesn't know what homeopathy is (or is supposed to be)

3. Acupuncture and diet are not forms of homeopathy.
From Random House dictionary:
Homeopathy
ho·me·op·a·thy
noun
the method of treating disease by drugs, given in minute doses, that would produce in a healthy person symptoms similar to those of the disease (opposed to allopathy ).
Homeopathy is woo, no high horse required.

8. I would hope a nurse would know what homeopathy is.
Surely someone will ask her why she didn't take the nursing job in Alaska that offered a $10K signing bonus.
And just like gNads, Dorkangel defends her lack of knowledge

18. I do too.
Stop being against natural remedies.
Unless you don't care about your fellow humans.
Who the **** cares if the cure comes from a pill or a plant?? I surely don't!! Why do you?
Why so much animosity against natural cures????
But they still try to deNadin her. Give up DUmmies. She's not gonna admit she's wrong, but a self delete might appear

26. Your OP and subsequent replies clearly indicate you do not know what "homeopathy" is.
It is not acupuncture or diet.

76. Are you really just on DU,
to start OPs to randomly insulting other DUers and then double down? Because that's as trollish as it can gets. I'll say this in the most respectable way, but you're not a very pleasant being to discuss opinions
edited to add another link where DOrkangel is getting slapped around about the same woo. http://www.democraticunderground.com/10024807601 This is the thread that caused Dorkangel to defend homeopathy

Acupuncture and diet are not forms of homeopathy.
But acupuncture is as much quackery as homeopathy, naturopathy, chiropractic, and aromatherapy.
You may recall that DUmpangelnumbers fantacized at the DUmp about a 3 or 4 month course that took her from abject insanity in the DUmp loony bin to job offers as a registered nurse - in Alaska!!

90. I am terrified if that one actually passed their boards.
I think DUmpangelnumbers and Amber may have been classmates.

I no longer discount honest Chiros as quacks. I know too many people that have been helped.
Nothing more.

Oh My! LFR agrees with Dorkangel.

131. Thank you darkangel218!
Acupuncture on a small area on my back is the only way for me to get relief! One of my vertebra is a corkscrew. It is some sort of a birth defect. Massage Therapists don't want to touch me and due to a allergic reaction to most pain relievers, I end up in some pain!
So for me, acupuncture all the way! Even so, LFR, acupuncture has nothing to do with homeopathy (the subject of DOrkangel's OP), as was explained to DOrkangel by several of your coDUmmies

There may be a reason that massage therapists don't want to touch you that is different than what you think.

honest Chiros
Not sure there is such a thing, since the whole premise of their profession is bogus, but a lot of people claim to feel better.
They could probably have seen the same improvement, at a fraction of the price, from a massage.

Gobucks, it has been 30 years since I ran from nursing and back then the trend of homeopathy was just hitting the country, so new it was not even mentioned in school.
Some things do work for illness outside of drugs, strange but true. Physical Therapy is an example, Wearing glasses and hearing aids. Anything that does not require surgery, drugs, or any invasive procedure--IV drip, an inhalator to breath is to my mind homeopathy.
Only drug that is really use full is Aspirin and that comes from a tree the Indians chewed the bark of.
Latest on the scene is the new OTC Probiotic pills to cure some kind of sugar loving parasites that live in our gut. We do not have worms as those in the past did unless you visit a poor country and eat uncooked food.
So now this new drug just one pill a day can cure you of this new found parasite. Strange but we have known since the late 40's that when on antibiotic to eat lots of yogurt to prevent yeast infections. This was and is homeopathy.
Put ice on a burn and then honey to prevent infections, they say older folks with high blood pressure can lower it by having a pet. Going on a long ride seated, compression stockings will prevent blood clots to the legs.
Every day all of us use some kind of homeopathy in one way or the other.
Only problem with this is we are told there are enzymes in some foods that prevent Cancer, but to get benefit from that food one has to eat 5 pounds of it a day.

Compared to astrology, smudging, and healing white light, none of them have any room whatsoever to call anybody else's stupid ideas 'woo.'

I'll second that. I got turned on to one from a girlfriend that swore by him. I went and it definitely helped. Very nice guy who was a serious professional and very decent rates. Took the time to explain exactly what he determined was going on and what he was going to do.

Possibly.

Had this Plant doctor that was very well known, He came to our work occasionally to speak to us or to examine the New Asians that came here.
He became interested in the Asian method of medicine and how it worked. Acupressure was used by many Asians and I myself had at times had the woman on the line use it on me for a back ache shoulder problem or pain in the hands or wrists. Darn it hurt like hell but the pain did go away.
This doctor was so interested he took a year off his practice to travel in Asia to find out other methods of healing.
I have no idea what he learned on his trip, but with in 6 months of coming home he dropped dead and there was no explication from the Corner for why.----He was 36 years old.

Sorry, calling bullshit.
Possibly.
Ask a real orthopedic doctor about chiropractic "adjustment" and "subluxation".
Beyond its value as massage, it's as bogus as astrology and acupuncture.
People often do get at least temporary relief from massage, a masseur or physical therapist is as effective and a lot cheaper.

Aw come on, primitive dorkangelnumders is my sweetie. Cut her some slack.

OK, I love DUmdass broads and she fits the bill. :-)

Dorkangel bows to the pressure from other DUmmies who actually know the definitions of homeopathy, acupuncture, etc. and edits her OP.

On edit, I meant to refer to alternative medicine in general. Some consider acupuncture homeopathy, as in mind over matter, rather than the physiological changes it may create.
I'm surprised that this was an edit rather than a self-delete.
But there is a spark of resistance that will not be extinquished. There is a bit of gNads in this DUmmy, similar stubbornness.Response to RedCappedBandit (Reply #168) Sat Apr 12, 2014, 11:16 PM darkangel218 (9,306 posts)
171. Its all based on mind over body, in essence.
Accupuncture does a bit more than that, but all in all a big part of it it's still homeopathic.
edited to add: Not surprisingly, the OP has finally been self-deleted. In the two hours prior to the self-delete, Dorkangel made several snarky replies to some of her detractors ('bullies' in nadinese), followed by the self-delete so that she has the last (snarky) word.

Dorkangel, bullied and hounded by homeophobes.
