1. Addmit it...

I am not the only one!!

And yes, doing taxes is a disappointment, I understand. Took me an hour and a half to learn I am getting $20 back. So I understand the want to push it aside till the last minute.

So fess up? Who else is dragging their feet?

I know I can not be the only one!

Addmit!  Get it?  An accounting pun!  Oh wait, that's just another spelling mistake.

2. We're breaking even this year.

And I'm not complaining. Hubby took a new job knowing that we would get a hot on the 401K loan. The hit was half the amount his new job's increase was.

I Was really scared when he said he was gonna look for something new, but it worked out.

LFR, I hope you take that *little bit back* and treat yourself to something nice. I have told you before, and I;m saying it again... you are an inspiration.

I've been homeless, and separately, I have been pretty much destitute. (hell I've had a few bad times in my crazy life) I clawed my way back... and it looks like you did too.

"Yes!  Spend that $20 on yourself!"  -DUmmie Raine1967, formerly homeless, now a financial expert

No taxes to figure.

Another broke, destitute DUmmie.  GOOD.

I could use it.

In my defense, My B.A. is in Communications, nothing to do with Accounting.

Next year maybe I can cut out the IRS middle man and just send Lady Freedom Returns a refund from here!

DUmmie doxydad is announcing he'll be in the market for some fat, sweaty, homeless poontang come this time next year.

10. We filed ours the first week

Of February. We got a sizable return. Just my husband working, and three children. We are waiting for ssdi on me.
However, April 15 is my youngest 7th birthday. So I have a sort of deadline on that.

Another DUmmie trying to get on the gravy train.

And oh no I am not. We never got along. He was a Baptist Minister. He had some...opinions on how a girl should be. I never adhered to them. We never got along due to them. And when I converted to Catholicism....

My mom on the other hand... she was a California girl. She was a big civil rights movement. She was happy to let me be me.

I'm sure they'd both be very proud of you now.   ::)

How exactly does a person become a big civil rights movement?

So she's been living on the government teat, but she is still getting a tax refund. Nah, the system isn't screwed up at all.

more bs - the child deduction is in effect until the end of 2013 and has nothing to do with April 15th.

Sure you got a "hot on," but did you get "heavy"? Because if you're gonna get hot, might as well get heavy, too.

Correct.  She and possibly her father obviously have no idea how the dependency exemption works.  The tax year is the calendar year for individual filers, April 15th is just the filing deadline, not the cut-off for any exemptions or dependency deductions.  He could claim her the year she was born even if she was born at 11:59 p.m. on December 31st.

Hard to believe she even had enough taxable income to file, I guess the $20 is probably the total that was withheld from her short period of getting paid by the c-store.

The minimum income for filing is $10.  Uncle Sam wants a piece of everything.

C-store?  Would that be an abbreviation for convenient store?

Would that be your own way of saying convenience store?

 :evillaugh:

If so, yeah...a literary shortcut that many others have used talking about her former employment, in past threads.

35 years ago, I was talking to a friend that had just come from getting his taxes done. He was in the same business as me but lived about 30 miles away. I asked him how he faired at the tax man. He said, "I just had the best year I ever had......I lacked $2 making a profit." He was dead serious.

Agreed. Such a dumbass.  My oldest is a New Year's Eve baby way back in 1995. She was here 8 hours but I got to claim her fro the whole year. However that will bite my ass when I can't claim her anymore. Lost the CTC the year before last because she turned 17 on the last day of the year...lol

We got a sizable return.

Has there ever been a DUmmy who knew there's a difference between an income tax return and an income tax refund?

I don't think so.

They're as clueless as they are on "lose" vs. "loose" and "its" vs. "it's".

Sorry, I don't want to lose my tanter.

You're right, the LFR saga has been going on so long I'd forgotten about where that originally came from, and couldn't resist the opportunity for snarking it up on top of Delmar's post.

You keep using that word, Amber.  I do not think it means what you think it means.

How can you get back what was NEVER deducted from you in the first place (because most of 2013 you sat on your fat ass in front of a computer monitor, whining about how unfair it was that your wicked sisters were demanding that you go find a damned job so that you could repay them for their generosity and largesse, complaining about your eee-vil boss and horrible working conditions in your two whole weeks of experience at the "convenient store", fantasizing about getting back together with Dreamboat Dave out in Tucson, shared the highlights of hanging out - and leaving infestations of bedbugs - at "The Sally"; and on, and on, and on...

Unless you're including the income you generated out in the alleyway behind the plasma center, you haven't been taxed more than $100 bucks for all of 2013, and with all the 0-ministration's largesse, you're likely seeing about $2,500 in "tax credits" coming back to you as a "refund".

Those are not tax refunds....those are democrat, vote buying, annual welfare checks. I bet the democrats wish they could send those out about a week before election time.

Your Own Exemption

You can take one exemption for yourself unless you can be claimed as a dependent by another taxpayer. If another taxpayer is entitled to claim you as a dependent, you cannot take an exemption for yourself even if the other taxpayer does not actually claim you as a dependent.

Wouldn`t it be funny if the DUmbass claimed herself and a sister rightly claimed her as a dependent in Missouri.
That 20 bucks won`t go far towards the penalty.

Well now, I didn't think anyone was doing research like that.

Think I'll get the ol' grant writer out and get a quick request in for some of that O cash from the Interior Dept., or is it the Ag Dept.. Wonder how I can work a Climate Change angle in there, y'know, to sweeten the odds a little in my favor.
