can you point me to an internet site for animal track identification?
An ice crust the past couple of days reveals some interesting tracks on my riverside property*. I wonder what kind of animal walks with all its prints in a straight line one after another, and with three imprints one two three, then a space, then three more imprints one two three.
*Yuck yuck yuck. Har dee har. Judy's trying to emulate franksolich, but it's so patently a lie.
franksolich can be a tenant on "riverside property" because I live in a sparsely-populated area where there's more square miles per capita, than people per square mile; the sort of place where people usually don't want to live, isolated and remote.
Judy lives in a suburb east of Portland, Oregon, a heavily-populated area, people coming-and-going all the time. Land prices are probably sky-high there, nothing neither she nor I could possibly afford.
The only "riverside property" the pie-and-jam primitive has is when it rains there, and water runs alongside the edge of her street.
Sorry Judy, but not even a nice try.....

3. no, I didn't get any photos.
And I haven't seen anything like them online yet.
The animals that I know come into this space are Canada geese, crows, squirrels, a neighbor dog and cat. I've seen deer here once, but these were not deer . Oh and I've seen a raccoon once. Eagles are here, but don't land on the ground. I don't think these were coyote either, although that's not impossible.
I guess it will remain a puzzle. The animal went in an unusual way, under a deck, alongside a picture window, then down to the river edge and disappeared.

5. Not likely to be a bobcat -- that would be very unusual here.
The closest image I've seen is a fox, simply because the prints are all in a straight line, not side to side. A fox is pretty unlikely here, too. I'll ask old-timers if they have ever seen a fox.

Now that is quite a mental picture. An addled old woman wearing fifteen coats wandering around pulling around a red wagon full of junk, all the while asking anybody if they have seen a fox.

She wisely posted her question in a place where members are widely known for their mastery of nature and forest craft.

my riverside property
Public parks belong to everyone.
You should see my property on the edge of the Grand Canyon.

The pie-and-jam primitive ought to PM Amber down in Tucson. Amber could run it by her indian lover. He must be an expert tracker.

The only tracks White Cloud knows about are on his arms.

I just checked on the location of the abandoned bodega that was going to become grasswipe's imaginary pie-and-marijuana shop.
It's about six blocks from the Willamette River.
As she meanders around town in search of treasures, I'm sure the riverbank is on her route.
