In re: The ignore function

I'm curious as to what the preponderance of opinion is regarding "ignore".

177 votes, 3 passes | Time left: Unlimited

I have never had anyone on ignore nor do I plan to 85 (48%)
I have previously had people on ignore, but not currently 25 (14%)
I do not currently have anyone on ignore but plan on doing so 1 (1%)
I am considering taking people off of my ignore list 0 (0%)
I have 1 person on ignore 11 (6%)
I have less than 5 people on ignore 14 (8%)
I have between 5 and 10 people on ignore 9 (5%)
I have more than 10 people on ignore 25 (14%)
I wish I had YOU on ignore so I wouldn't see this stupid poll 2 (1%)
Other (please explain) 5 (3%)

3 DU members did not wish to select any of the options provided.

The thread's, like, five miles long, a whopper.

3. Since this is a discussion board

I would find it hard to discuss issues if I had people on ignore. The web like the real world are full of differing opinions. To me, it would be like sticking fingers in my ears and going la-la-la can't hear you. Just my opinion though.

67. There is a difference between discussion

and harassment/ cyberstalking. I have no time for the latter

14. You left out

"I have hundreds of DUers on ignore."

I know a few who would select that...

20. LOL...I know who you're talking about

Seriously, if someone has hundreds on ignore, they need to look in the mirror.

I think it's time to put this myth to rest.

Can one of our moles report on what the actual capabilities of a non-star iggy list are? From what I understand, you can ignore 5 DUmmies.

I've always found it to be kind of superfluous for me, no matter what forum I've belonged to.  Never ignored anyone.

No need to.

I've never ignored anyone - but I suspect it's my belief that getting all butthurt over other people's words on a website that I'm not required to read is beyond 'petty' .

It's not like the electrons are going to jump off the screen and strangle me, so why should I get so bent out of shape over it ? Life is too short for needless anger and angst.
