This is dreadful, simply dreadful.

What's for Dinner ~ Friday ~ April 4th

The above's the latest comment posted in the cooking and baking forum.....seven hours ago.

There used to be a time when the cooking and baking forum popped like popcorn, new comments every minute, or even every few seconds.

When something's going downhill, one has to look at the leader--in this case, dear old sweet Lu herself--to find out what's going wrong.

Obviously what's going wrong here is a lack of involvement, a lack of engagement, on the part of the hostess; she really doesn't care about the cooking and baking forum, and if the drones aren't going to post, well, let the forum wither, atrophy, and die.

I used to wonder what makes dear old sweet Lu so lazy, so apathetic, but then last week I read a book about the Reconstruction Era in the southern states, and discovered her problem.

Dear old sweet Lu, who lives in far western North Carolina, has hookworm, and it'd be good if she had it checked out.

1. that is a very good idea

my bestie is coming to stay the weekend and she's gluten-free. there isn't much in the house for her to eat, so we'll touch base later on how she wants to handle food this weekend.

I'm sure one of your gut bombs would be okay.  Like your instant mashed potatoes mixed with a can of green beans.

2. Middle Eastern stuffed cabbage, leftover tabouli and a carrot salad
Sounds like something a dog would throw up.

The rest are still digging through Urapeeun cook books looking for pretentious sounding names to drop.
It's early yet, give them time.

Ah yes, overly-elaborate-description-of-a-meal-I'm-not-actually-having time. Let's tip a glance at the shopping cart of a well-respected DUmmy and build a menu:

OK, got it: crispy bologna wedges with grape jelly gastrique, cassoulet of frozen burrito with asian noodle sauce, and oatmeal cookie crumble with hot dog sauce.

^^^   :rotf: :lmao:

"Middle Eastern stuffed cabbage."  I used to make that, and then I saw who wrote it.  The militant vegan.  Mine had a combo of ground lamb and beef with just a sprinkling of rice.  Hers is all rice.  What a treat.  They've got Dutch Ovens every night.

I loathe tabouli, serves absolutely no purpose.

Their menu should reflect the present threat of glow bull warming. Can't the primitives support their own causes ? They can never put their money where their mouth is.

I wonder how old the livetohike primitive is? judging by pics I've seen, she looks to be in her 70s. I'll bet she's not even close to that age, but her stringent diet has made her look like old shoe leather stretched over a skeleton. She needed someone to force-feed her some red meat a long time ago. Bet her husband stops for a Big Mac or something a few times a week before he goes home!

I've seen her picture. She is not attractive.

I'm really disappointed that NJCher hasn't chimed in.

Maybe she'll show up later.

I'll bet she's working on a pot of stew.
