Study: 43% of young men say they have been sexually coerced by women

A large proportion of teenage boys and college men report having been coerced into sex or sexual behavior, according to research published by the American Psychological Association.

A total of 43 percent of high school boys and young college men reported they had an unwanted sexual experience and of those, 95 percent said a female acquaintance was the aggressor, according to a study published online in the APA journal Psychology of Men and Masculinity.

"Sexual victimization continues to be a pervasive problem in the United States, but the victimization of men is rarely explored," said lead author Bryana H. French, PhD, of the University of Missouri. "Our findings can help lead to better prevention by identifying the various types of coercion that men face and by acknowledging women as perpetrators against men."

Of 284 U.S. high school and college students who responded to a survey about unwanted sexual encounters, 18 percent reported sexual coercion by physical force; 31 percent said they were verbally coerced; 26 percent described unwanted seduction by sexual behaviors; and 7 percent said they were compelled after being given alcohol or drugs, according to the study. Half of the students said they ended up having intercourse, 10 percent reported an attempt to have intercourse and 40 percent said the result was kissing or fondling.

3. would be nice if true. i think everyone knows how these type of threads end up these days.

200+ posts of flame...

the article itself is moot, it's the inevitable flamefest I speak of.

12. Yeah, why do people post stuff that is going to annoy some DUers?

People should stick to safe topics like "I hate the Kochs".

63. you men make it so easy, in the arguin'. we have a host from mens group calling out hof

other men taunting women saying, .... ya ya??? whatta 'bout it.

jokes.... about rape. really? hot button? ya. loverboy too cute. i bet we would have all had a chuckle.

and a man declaring 57% is yellin', me too me too.

one man who proclaims professional women should maintain femininity at all cost by wearing summer dresses as their professional work clothes, as he is letting us all know about the rape culture and his rape??? (not clear, attempted rape???)

this thread cfl is another example of the rape culture.

everything that is being done in this thread to diminish and dismiss what we talk about with women, boys and girls on du.

now...

there really is nothing to see here. we can all move along

there could have been a serious discussion, .... but the purpose seems to be a show.

But Ms. Hindenberg has the final say, as usual blaming things on men:

72. Can we all say "BOGUS" together?

The sample size was too small and the whole thing poorly designed.

I'm sure young males feel pressured, but it's mostly from their own libidos overriding their good sense when it comes to choosing a partner.

Yeah, right.

Like women don't show poor judgement in choosing partners?

back when LandofConfusion80 was a young nieve college student, such an incident happened.  I was taking a photography class and of course we had a dark room that was routinely used by multiple people.  The class was relatively small, and one person in particular was a non-traditional red headed woman in her late 40s to early 50s...  One day while utilizing the dark room, she came in and started to develope her pictures.  Idle conversation was pursued for a good half hour or so when suddenly she asked an openended question "Do you think people have ever had sex in here?"  Stunned by the question and also a little repulsed at the thought of such an activity with such a leathery creature I replied "Who knows, definitely not today!"  before quickly rushing for the exit to stop the conversation.  Still gives me chills just thinking about it.

You have to love how everything that does not conform to their personal victimhood mentalities has to be dismissed out of hand.

It happened to me quite a few times once I was in the "office" workforce. Usually by display or suggestive invitation. Never succumbed though I thought it flattering at the time.

Poor girls just wanted a husband, even if it was somebody else's.

My youngest son at 8 years old would run down the street to watch the young girls come out of a dance class, his older brother thought he was nuts.   The older one had no interest in girls at that time but the 8 year old did and that was just him.

Boy's and men, are all as different as females and that is a fact of life.

As a 14 year old ninth grader, my science teacher, 23 year old Miss Good(no joke), would place her hands on each side of my desk from behind and rub her chest on the back of my head. She would do that until I had bent forward to the point of having my head on my desk. She would look at me and laugh or smile sometimes and then work her way around to my desk for a little titty rubbing.....wish I had had her for a class in the 12 th grade, I would have taught her a lesson or at least broke her of a bad habit.

Then in college there was that horny gal. First time I ever laid eyes on her, blind double date with a friend. We picked the girls up at the dorm. I opened the backdoor of the car and let her in. I went around to the other side and got in. I no sooner slammed the door and she slid across the car seat and grabbed me by my manhood. I fought that bitch all night long and never saw her again. If she hadn't been quite so forward right off the bat, she could have had everything she wanted and more that night.

I was attacked by three cheerleaders in the back seat of the ringleader's Renault Alliance in the parking lot of a movie theater when I was 17.

I was so flabbergasted, I didn't do anything but tell them to drive me back across town to get my car, so I could drive myself home.

Nah, this seems to have a much more Larry Flynt bend to it.  Also got that whole "Dear Penthouse" thing, just sort of crappier and much funnier

I know, right?  It was a convertible, though.  I think they brought that one with because they were hoping it would break down.

I'm kind of, uh, hesitant to mention my experiences with women with overactive hormones.

There's a certain class of women who get off on men who have some sort of crippling defect, most obviously on male amputees.

Yes, I kid you not; years ago, decades ago, I actually saw a magazine dedicated to this perverted fetish.

There were three times in my life where a woman paid absolutely no attention to me until by one circumstance or another she learned I was born without ears.  It's an easy defect to hide, with long hair; and as for the deafness itself, well, I'm a good actor, a really good actor, able to carry on as if I'm hearing everything when in fact I'm not hearing a damned thing at all.

<<<has been compared with the late John Barrymore, when it comes to acting.

In each case, they wanted to see, but I wasn't about to let them see.

<<<doesn't let just anybody see absence of ears.

In their sweaty panting passion to possess franksolich, they managed to cop a feel down on a lower part of this body, but that was it.  No more than that.  One grab or tug, and I pushed them away, roughly.

<<<doesn't care for rude people.

It's just really perverted, people who get off on grotesque crippling afflictions of other people.

You on the other hand were different and I am sure people were interested in you having no ears, not that they got OFF on it but just curiosity about how you managed to live in a soundless world.

Much like a person born with a third nipple or blind, how do they manage to live in a world much different from the majority.

Curiosity, is a human trait, we cannot help but be curious about anyone different from us be it them with eyes that slant, skin a different shade, a language we do not know.

Oh My Frank, now you got me a wondering about my grandson who lost a finger last week at work.

Will the women come out of the wood work to comfort him, spoil and seduce him ?

Should I warn his wife about all the temptations he will face from strange women that want to make it with an amputee ?

Unlike people born with a problem, this kid came into the world with 10 fingers and toes, I know I counted them, now the man will have to deal with a loss and never get to play the piano or guitar.

Not to sound weird but when I faced loosing my leg, the last thing on my mind was SEX.   I was pleasantly surprised when coming out of the operation to find both legs there and all limbs intact.

It is much different from being born with a disability to getting one later in life.  Quite a shock to suddenly become deaf or blind, the world turns upside down.

Those born with a condition have years to adapt and this is normal for them.   Those that suddenly find parts of their body are missing or cannot be function as it did in their lifetime have to adjust overnight to a whole new life style.

Our Vets. missing arm or a leg, those in car accidents or other spine injures that limit them for life------must scramble the brain, as in phantom pain from some non existant limb.

Why do some women have to head  to these men,  may be maternal instinct or an instinct to protect the wounded.
