Former President George H.W. Bush to receive Kennedy Library Profiles in Courage Award
http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/2014/03/27/former-president-george-bush-receive-kennedy-library-profiles-courage-award/9efj49K7G33rv6H8817bJL/story.html
Former President George H.W. Bush has been selected to receive a Profile in Courage award from the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation for agreeing to a 1990 budget deal that would raise taxes, despite previously pledging not to raise them, the foundation said today.
The annual award is presented to public servants who have made courageous decisions without regard for personal or professional consequences, the foundation said in a statement.
The award is named for President Kennedy’s book “Profiles in Courage,†which details stories of US senators who risked their careers for the greater good.
Bush is being honored for the courage he demonstrated when he agreed to the budget compromise. This reneged on his 1988 campaign pledge to not raise taxes, and risked the Republican’s re-election prospects, the foundation said. Democrat Bill Clinton ultimately won the 1992 election.
At the time of the deal, the federal deficit was set at $200 billion, and the Congressional Budget Office predicted it would double. Bush negotiated with Democrats and agreed to a deal that included both spending cuts and tax increases, the foundation said.
“In his first term in office, President George H. W. Bush risked his reputation and ultimately his political career by forging an important compromise on the budget in 1990 that moved our country forward, and should not be forgotten,†said Jack Schlossberg, President Kennedy’s grandson in the statement.
Seriously? What shouldn't be forgotten is that George H.W. Bush, like his father before him and his son after him, committed treason to further his own career. (And God only knows what the SOB was doing on 11/22/1963 - Bush himself has claimed he doesn't remember.)

1. Tell it to the dead crew he bailed out on, Kennedy Library.

2. I thought he might have been receiving the award since he was a pilot in World War II, but an award
for his political career is dubious. At least he isn't a chickenhawk like many of his Republican brethren such as Cheney.
I guess that the JFK Library Foundation wants to appear bi-partisan, but it does seem like it's a waste of time and I won't watch the ceremony.

There has been a lot of debate over the years on just how "brave" Poppy was.

Other corroboration comes from another pilot of an Avenger who has said that the plane was quite unstable without a pilot at the controls, and had a tendency to roll over, and that it was the obligation of the pilot to remain at the controls until the crewmen had exited the plane. Stated further that the operations manual of the plane specifically recommended water landings in emergencies, and the person found it odd that Bush did not attempt one when his people hadn't gotten out, because he'd done one a few months before.

3. He tried to hide from "Read My Lips"
He regretted it.
Suck on it, primitives.

He found out that you can never trust a democrat...never.

So do the anti-American cowards who wouldn't lift a finger to protect this country if it ever came under attack, really want to go there?
There is an element to the denizens of the DUmp that I have zero tolerance for.

Libs are all too happy to give awards to Republicans who stab the American people in the back.

One person who was there that feeds their prejudice about H. W.'s service is the only opinion that matters. I'm guessing there were others on the plane who are/were capable of backing up this one guy.

Only in DUmmieland...
A man who DUmmies consider the enemy makes a promise to not raise taxes, something DUmmie's cannot stand.
Instead, said man does exactly the opposite and RAISES taxes, which would normally make the the DUmmies ecstatic, even braggadocio, because they can stick it to the rethugs that our own guy doesn't even like republican policies.
Yet, they come out and trash him because of the (R), and because of his "evil spawn" son Dubya.
Go figure.

Ironic, since Kennedy actually lowered taxes. Once again we have an "organization" named after a person that doesn't know shit about the stance the person stood for and, chances are, ran by a bunch of f'n Progs.
