Limbaugh signs through 2016.. $400 M deal.....
Source: Drudge
In what is being described as an unprecedented radio contract, Limbaugh will keep his syndicated show on-the-air and e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e through 2016 with CLEAR CHANNEL and PREMIERE RADIO.
Already host of the most lucrative hours since radio's inception, Limbaugh's total package is valued north of $400 million, according to media insiders.
The NEW YORK TIMES will claim this weekend that Limbaugh, marking 20 years this summer as a national host, has secured a 9-figure signing bonus for the new deal, newsroom sources tell DRUDGE.

1. What a waste of money..............
Rush won't burn it. He will invest it. It isn't wasted at all. Money is not zero sum

5. Oh, it's not a waste of money - Limbaugh brings HUGE
revenues. That is why they are paying him the big bucks.
Lucidity?

wish they'll all go bankrupt
Why yes it is! But this isn't retirement. It's another seven year contract. It is payment for productivity.

4. How appropriate for a drug addict to be named Rush. n/t
His name should be Bucks. Bucks Limbaugh. Now THAT would be appropriate.

6. What a wonderful thought!
Limbaugh signs. All he does is sit behind the microphone, doing his show in American Sign Language!
That would be a wonderful silence. And since I don't understand ASL, even with my eyes open, his show would become tolerable.
Unlucidity?

8. What's the median age of his listeners?
Are they all ancient, like O'Reilly's viewers. If so, he's likely to lose a lot of them through, ahem, natural wasteage by 2016, and I don't see the Obama generation lining up to replace them. I think whoever offered Limpballs that contract is going to have buyer's remorse by the end of it.
I believe I read this the last time Limbaugh renewed his contracts. I'll most likely hear it again in 2015.

Amen.

I don't even listen to Rush Limbaugh but anything he can do to aggravate the left wing lunatics is fine by me.

Good for Rush. Good for the truth. Not so good for liberalism.

Evidently this DUmmy hasn't heard of the phenomena of 'Rush Babies'.

Ditto.
I've never heard Rush Limbaugh, for obvious reasons.
But I've read his books.
Rush rocks.
-
He's worth every penny.
-
IMO Rush can be a pompous ass...but damn..anybody that winds up the libtards as well as he can is great by me.
-
How is that AAR thingy doing DUchebags?
Just like they don't know anyone that listens to Rush, when snObama loses the DUmbasses will claim stolen election because nobody they know voted for McCain.
-

I've heard many times that Rush can be a pompous ass. I am a 20 year Rush listener and I do not understand it. I'd like to know how and when Rush Limbaugh is a pompous ass. I would like an example which does not include his wicked sense of humor.
-
I would like an example which does not include his wicked sense of humor.
That's what many people, and some listeners do not understand. He does a lot of that on purpose and it's meant to be dark humor. Like when he chastises Snerdley. It's all a joke. Liberals have essentially painted him as a pompous ass because, well, no other reason than he's a conservative, and he plays off of it.
It's a Rush thing, some of you wouldn't understand.
-
The "Obama generation"?!!! :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:
Once the "Obama generation" starts thinking for themselves, you damn well better bet that Rush's listening audience will increase.

My guess is that if you're under thirty (as I am), you probably qualify under this DUmmie's definition. I might add that the "Obama generation" really includes anyone of any age that likes when politicians blow smoke up their rears.
-
Good for Rush...I listen to him everyday he is a great personality. He pisses the DUmmies off so it's all good.
-
My kids remind me in the car at 12:05 to turn on Rush. They know that when he is on they can do what they want as long as they don't interrupt him. :-)
-
Rush is why I became a dyed-in-the-wool conservative twenty years ago. :-)
Rush does indeed rock to quote frank.

Don't misunderstand me...I like Rush....I guess sometimes [I think] his methods leave something to be desired. YMMV. just a perception thing :-)

So, I take it you're not a big Savage fan. :-)
-
To be honest...I rarely listen to talk radio anymore*, I listen to local news and talk [conservative]......My commute is only 4 miles..and the shop usually has a classic rock station on.
*used to listen religiously to Rush/ Savage/ Hannity/ et-al.

Same here, although I think I started listening in 1990.
As I've "confessed" before, I voted for Dukakis in '88 (being young and stupid). :thatsright: Listening to Rush, among other things helped convert me to the correct way of thinking.
-
This'll probably earn me a few "bitch slaps" but.........I voted for Carter, Mondale, Dukakis, and Clinton [once] and Yes..Listening to Rush [as well as others] helped cure me of that affliction.
-
See Gwitness? Liberalism is the desease, Rush is the cure.
-
Well, I voted for "Ears" in '92 and '96 but I've NEVER voted for a liberal. :-)
...and when I DID vote for Zell Miller, after his special election term was over, he wasn't a moonbatic liberal.
-
The Way Things Ought to Be is my political Bible. I wish he'd write another one.
-
And AAR can't even pay their employees. :rotf:

The fact that you voted for Zell . . . H5!

Zell was one of those Dems I could tolerate. His party, of DECADES, left him....and you have friggin' 20 Y/O moonbats telling HIM he needs to leave. :whatever:

2. I wouldn't waste the saliva to spit in his face, or the urine to piss on his grave.
I read the NY Times magazine article. Softball stuff. Most disturbing part of the article was that his grandfather lived to be over 100. That means the genetics are there for a long life. Maybe his Gulfstream will go down. Anyway, I will buy my daughter a fine red wine, tell her to hang on to it, and if he outlives me, for her to drink a toast in celebration of the demise of one of the worst figures to ever disgrace the name of humanity on this planet.
I think that maybe is a terroristic threat.

He has transcripts available on his web site. I don't know if you have to subscribe or not.

He puts some segments on the website each day. They change after the end of the next day's show.
Sometimes, they get left up permanently or archived, but they're usually only up for 24 hours.

Even if it is realized, it will never be said outloud. The meme of the day is that Limbaugh is a mouthpiece of the Reich-wing and it's all written off as the cost of doing business and getting the dark "message" out.

Actually it may do something better. It might cause it to stal as one person on Rush's show said. The caller asked Rush where are they going to come up with the cash to pay for the equal time now?

That is a good point. I can see a scenario where the stations can offer "opposing viewpoint air time" but at the same rate as Rush's time. If there are no takers, well, it isn't like the offer wasn't made.

or all the buckets of money the lefties poured into Air Amerika Radio? why didnt it make it? cause nobody wants to listen to liberal policy - its illogical and ridiculous. Americans know this... so let's reword this statement up above.
Al Franken's experience is a beacon to young leftie moonbats everywhere -- proving to them that if you use an eyesight test to dodge the draft, as Franken did, talk loudly (and throw chairs occasionally) and hold your hand out (and beg on air for money like randy rhodes and janeane garafolo did) liberal fat cats (like Barbra Streisand and George Soros) will drop Mega CashMoneyBucks into your paw to get you to spout messages of hate and division in support of phony, so-called 'democrat' ideas that are essentially radical (and somewhat marxist/socialist) and opposed to everything good, noble and American.
here is your problem: all the money in the world doesnt make people listen if the message is crap. people listen to Rush and others, because the message is hopeful, patriotic, funny, and correct.
Kerry outspent GW in the last election and still couldnt get the votes. the money means nothing, its just a symbol. get your head around the fact, THE FACT, that Rush Limbaugh says it like it is. He has excoriated the President over things he disagrees with - he is no one's lap dog. Just look at DU .. even they listen to him. They dont understand him... but they listen :-)

Rush is equal time.

Rush is BOMBASTIC in an intentionally very humorous way. This he does only to agreve the left. They HATE him and his bombastic ways. When he finds something that especially pains the left, he'll find something to say in a loud, bombastic, self important way to gore them more. And it works every time. He LOVES it! It amuses me.
I had been lecturing my two boys years ago about the crap they were being fed at school. They wqere trying to fill their heads full of mush as Rush says. So thte eldest, David was off at College in Virginia Beach. I drove down to see him with the rest of the family for Thanksgiving. David asked me to tune in a specific radio station, and there was this guy saying what I'd been saying for years. At the first commercial I said, well, boys, believe me now that some guy on the radio has said the SAME THING!
Dave was grinning, I'd been set up. I asked who it was, and he said Rush Limbaugh, and he was HOT STUFF in Va Beach. They had "Rush Rooms" in the local restaurants where only his show was on the sound system, and many business men went to these rooms for lunch. That he'd been listening almost since the day he started college. And most still do.
