Skippy's quite a piece of work, isn't he?

It's too bad, because he had a good start in life, coming from decent honest hardworking people who wished him the best, wanted him to become someone a gift to the human race.

But instead he turned out a primitive.....

From all that I've read of Skippy--which is a considerable volume of literary output--it appears his biggest flaw is that, while he has amazing cerebrality, he has a weak mind, willing to sell his brain to whoever makes him "feel good."

My best speculation is that he took a wrong turn about the time he got out of high school and went to college, say the late 1970s.  Being all the way across this vast country, lonely, and with a willingness to sell his soul, he fell under the spell of either a primitive woman, or some charismatic "international" student at college, now thinking whatever they wished him to think.

It probably would've been better had he instead been captivated by the hairy robe-wearing bald people who sell flowers in airports, or the vacant-eyed Moonies.

It's very sad, the life of Skippy.  It could've been different if he weren't so weak.

It's not that Skinner doesn't want to take an active role any more, it's that Skinner couldn't care less.  You idiots are "self moderating" about as successfully as you "self-medicate";  badly and in poor judgement.
