What I've learned about the Affordable Care Act
What I've learned after a three-month war with these fiends: the ACA says the insurance companies cannot deny coverage to those with pre-existing conditions, which is true as far as it goes. But they can deny coverage for the life-saving medications necessary to treat those conditions. The insurance company I signed up with through the ACA exchange just denied coverage of my wife's multiple sclerosis medication. We're "covered," to the tune of $700 a month...just not for what she really needs.
A cozy loophole, that.

8. Heh.
There are ten different health insurance companies in NH. According to the independent (family friend, ally) insurance adjuster I spoke to at length this afternoon, pursuing coverage with any of them would be a waste of time. Why? Because - according to dude - the whole "You cannot deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions" thing only applies to insurance companies within the ACA network. You heard all that shit about "Grandfathering." Well, this is that, and all of them will turn us down because they still can.
I am in the process of running down the facts of the matter, but family friend and ally was confident enough to basically tell us not to bother.

26. Yeah this sucks.
I am terrified of losing my insurance through my employer because I do have pre-existing conditions and if I have to go onto the ACA there is a good chance I will be in the same boat. The worst part is because this has become law and all Americans are required to have insurance there is no way to reverse this and move to a single payer option. The people once again get screwed while Insurance Corporations laugh all the way to the bank.

I mean the attack seems purely gratuitous.
It's your responsiblity to check to see if your medications are covered. This was true before the ACA.
The fact is that you can work with the insurance company to see if they will cover it, and you can appeal their decision.

2. Koch Ads Filled With False GOP Fantasies
“Despite all that good news, there are plenty of horror stories being told. All of them are untrue, but they are being told all over America. The leukemia patient whose insurance policy was canceled and would die without her medication—Mr. President, that is an ad being paid for by two billionaire brothers that is absolutely false; or the woman whose insurance policy went up $700 a month—ads paid for around America by the multibillionaire Koch brothers, and the ad is false. We heard about the evils of ObamaCare, about the lives it is ruining in the Republican stump speeches and in ads paid for by oil magnets, the Koch brothers. But those tales turned out to be just that—tales, stories made up from whole cloth, lies, distorted by the Republicans to grab headlines or make political advertisements.†(Floor Remarks, 2/26/14)

why don't you cross the border into Massachusetts or Vermont and join better plans. Massachusetts is the best choice given the variety of plans available. His delegation is in New Hampshire Nads, and no that is not what they do -- that is unless you are on the donation list. They are democrats after all.

I think the condescending cousin needs to abjectly apologize for Bill, thinking that Bill wouldn't know who his own senators are. I'll bet Bill even knows who franksolich's senators are, and the cousin doesn't.
It's funny how she still doesn't have the right state, after two tries.

191. This probably won't make you feel any better
but I'm in Canada, with single payer and we still have to deal with the assholes at the insurance company for meds. Most meds aren't covered unless you are very poor, or a senior, or a kid in poverty. However, at least we have some cost control so that when we do have to pay out of pocket for a med, it's normally somewhat affordable. Still, there was a bit on the news not too long ago that showed how having cancer could basically ruin someone financially in Canada due to oral chemo not being covered 100% like IV chemo in the hospital is. Single payer should include drug and dental coverage too, IMO. Insurance companies are a pox on society. Hope you find a solution soon.

well, Repugs are that stupid - but most people are not. They know when they are being screwed. Mr. Pitt's anger, granted, is basically misplaced. I agree with him on so much - but I think he doesn't go as far as we need to. I believe he still sees capitalism as salvageable given progressive governing.
I don't see POTUS as the real problem. He's functioning as expected by the folks who hired him.
The underlying problem is an economic system in which things like health care are for-profit. Capitalism has to go.

184. Since health-care costs can't be deducted from taxes unless you run up an enormous bill
Under Bush, it was 7.5% of your AGI. Under ObamaCare, it is now 10%.
Also, Obama lowered the maximum for tax-deductible HSA's from $5k to $2500.
There is just so much wrong with this law that belongs squarely in the lap of the Democratic Party.

My guess is the denied medication is "medical" marijuana.
And Pitt's tattooed bride, the one who desperately needs this medical cannabis to survive, is the only one in the family with a job.
It's apparently a shitty job, if she needs to depend on democrat insurance, but unlike Bill or his decrepit wallduded mother, she works.
What a useless, contemptible family the Pitts are.
Which reminds me.
With the talk about the Pitt trust fund, and all the wealth of preceding Pitt generations, isn't it curious that the tattooed bride, shortly after childbirth, in the throes of multiple sclerosis, has a job? And not just a job, a crummy job with no benefits. Does that sound like a wealthy trust fund family?
If so, the rest of us must be Rockefellers.
I think that Bill and Raven Jane between them have lazed and drunk away the family nest egg.

The Savage Arithmetic of the Pre-Existing Condition
By William Rivers Pitt
t r u t h o u t | Op-Ed
Friday 30 March 2012
...I give her an injection every day to control the disease, and she takes a variety of other drugs to manage the symptoms. All told, multiple sclerosis - between the doctor visits, the MRIs, and the drugs required to keep a lid on things - costs upwards of $50,000 a year. Thankfully, she is gainfully employed with a major retail company with a stellar insurance program, so a large portion of that cost is defrayed by the insurance she pays for with every paycheck.
Without that insurance, she would be at the mercy of those who think pre-existing conditions are basically God's funny joke on people, i.e., ha ha ha, you're screwed.
She is not alone. I went to the doctor last month, and found out that I have pretty damned high blood pressure. The doctor had me come back four weeks later to do another check, and, yup, really really high blood pressure. I am now on two different drugs to bring it down to a manageable level, drugs that I am going to be on until they wind me in my shroud. I am on my wife's insurance, so again, the cost of those drugs is manageable, but mine is now a house filled with pre-existing conditions.
What if she gets fired, or the company goes belly-up? She is incredibly good at what she does, which means some other company may try someday to tempt her away...until they hear about her pre-existing condition, and mine, and how much insurance coverage for those conditions will cost thanks to our truly insane for-profit health industry. If my wife leaves her company for any reason - especially if/when Scalia and his merry band of ridiculous fascists decide to curb-stomp Obama's health care law - we are both well and truly screwed. It's like Ayn Rand herself was allowed to draft the rules for getting sick in America.
SHE had good insurance which you took advantage of but still whined about.
Fast forward now.
http://www.truth-out.org/opinion/item/22279-william-rivers-pitt-worse-than-the-mob-the-insurance-industry-is-organized-crime#13951923770311&action=collapse_widget&id=2206440
...when I movedmy family to New Hampshire. We were living in Boston before the move, and had health insurance through my wife's employer. My wife has Multiple Sclerosis, and one of the big reasons we felt comfortable about moving was that, if she changed jobs after the move, she could not be denied health insurance due to her pre-existing condition, thanks to the ACA.
We made the move, and my wife's employer transferred her to their location in Concord, more than an hour's drive away from our new home. She worked full-time to keep the health insurance, but after three months of ten-hour days combined with almost three hours on the road getting to and from work, it became clear that the situation was untenable. She was exhausted all the time - fatigue is the #1 danger zone for people with MS; it leaves you wide open for an attack - and worse, she felt like she was missing out on raising our daughter because she was gone more than thirteen hours a day.
On top of that, winter was coming, and the last thing she wanted to deal with was driving one-lane roads at night in a snowstorm, which would have happened more than a dozen times given the severity of this winter. After careful consideration, she asked her employer to transfer her to a location only 20 minutes away from home. The price of that transfer: going from full-time to part-time, and losing our insurance.
We looked into the insurance available through my employer, but came to the conclusion - based on the information provided on the Healthcare.gov website - that going through the exchange was our best option. So we went to the website, and shopped for new insurance.
You believed the lies from Odumbo, you have done nothing to help your wifes situation, you did not check out what you were moving into, you are a worthless piece of crap.
Even though likely a raving moonbat I have no reason to wish any ill to your wife.
I hope though she sees you for what you are...a useless, ravening boozer that is a spoiled 5 year old.
May you die broke, alone and miserable you piece of shit.

This, my friends, is why I was not angry at Chief Justice John Roberts. Better to have the very leeches that begged for this crap to scream for it to be gotten rid of than be used as a propaganda piece for all eternity.
Roberts understood the obamacare law very well and (I believe) set it up so that Congress holds the key to its survival or death. He knows what is coming and knows the moochtards will be the ones screaming the loudest for it to be "fixed". Putting it back in the hands of Congress allows the Republican controlled House to offer the bullet to the democrats to kill the broken legged horse.

But the greater insult here is that the cousin's so arrogant she doesn't think Bill knows the names of his own U.S. Senators. I think the cousin owes Bill a big whoop-smacking apology, especially since Bill probably even knows the names of my own senators, and yours too.
The cousin, being as provincial as she is, probably barely knows the names of the two broads representing her in the U.S. Senate.....and the odds are, she'd misspell at least one of their last names.

And it's okay for a Democrat to have anger issues with the president; he's a public figure who makes decisions that impact our quality of life. Whenever I see a Democrat have anger issues with president, I understand that the president has harmed someone's interest on issues very important to them.
This bonfire is still going strong, even though pittstain was locked out about halfway through

I just gave the thread a reread, and none of them seem to see the obvious - or at least admit the obvious.
Pitt is going to need to present the need for high priced medication to a panel, who will then decide <<IF>> his wife can have it covered.
Now somebody... I can't remember who... was laughed at heartily when she made that very assertion about Obamacare. I seem to recall that same somebody made another assertion involving Russia and the Ukraine.

-
Don't have a comment, just basking in the warm afterglow of Pittsmas. :-)
Actually, Bill's thread on Skins's island is a textbook example of how selfish, how self-centered, Democrats, liberals, and primitives are.
It's all about Bill having to spend $50,000 of his own money every year for medicines for his wife.
Bill has plenty of money--to him, $50,000 a year could be doled out of his petty cash. His trust fund after all includes some prime real-estate in downtown Boston.
So Bill can afford it.
However, there's probably many other people in the same predicament, who don't have elephantine trust funds, and to whom $50,000 a year would present an onerous burden.
But Bill doesn't mention those other, less fortunate, people; Bill's interested in only his own pain, even though it's very minor, almost imperceptible, when compared with the megamassive pain felt by others.
Bill's just like Atman; there's many things he can easily afford, but he just doesn't want to have to spend his own money on them.

Um, you being a "journalist" should you have been doing this in 2008 or 2009 or 2010 or even as late as last year?
We TEA Party people told you this would happen for years and years but all you could do was mock and use the most horrible epithets to try and silence actual facts.
Why was that, Mr. Pitt?
If you had bothered to "run down the facts" in all those previous years, you could have helped your wife and maybe even the entire country.
But, instead, you chased after unicorns that aren't there.
The Pelosi 'pass the bill to find out what's in it' should have been a clue for him as well.

:cheersmate: Conservatives are underserving of quality of life because we all know they are racists.
I believe the term you're grasping for is "Lebensunwertes Lebens". It's a popular one leftists of all stripes like to apply to those who oppose them.

Around here it's Scotch Broom.
Cindie
In the lakes around here, it's milfoil.

What pisses me off about this is, if it actually worked out for Pitt, and the other DUmbasses, but the majority of Americans were hurting due to it, they'd all STILL be cheering the shit on like they did 2 years ago and calling the doubters liars just as that weasly-assed Reid did.
**** you, Will, and **** your wife. I don't like grave-dancing or cheering anyone's illness, which I'm not really, but you idiots made your bed. ****ing deal with it. The ONLY ****ing reason you care now is because YOU are impacted by it. Everyone else be damned. ALL of us on "this" side told you this bullshit would be a disaster, as with ANY government program, and all you fruitbats, you included, ridiculed us while you were snorting the ground up unicorn horn dust.
****ing idiot.
Exactly right Rebel. I wonder what Pitt's reaction would have been if this post had been
by another "lesser" DUmmie. Would he even have read it?? Probably ignored it or jumped
on the ProSense BandWagon of blaming everyone else EXCEPT oBAMA.

BINGO and in fact if Pitt was the only one who benefited he would not give a crap about any of the other DUmbasses and likewise them for him.
Their wails of altruism always end with themselves.
