STARKE, Fla. - Florida on Tuesday carried out its first execution since a botched lethal injection procedure prompted a moratorium and state investigation.
Gov. Charlie Crist's office said Mark Dean Schwab was put to death by lethal injection at 6:15 p.m. Schwab was convicted of kidnapping, raping and killing an 11-year-old boy.
The execution was the initial test of Florida's new lethal injection procedure, which was instituted after Angel Diaz died in December 2006. Needles to inject the deadly chemicals into Diaz missed their mark and he suffered burns and extreme pain.
Schwab, 39, unsuccessfully challenged Florida's new execution procedure, claiming it could also cause pain and suffering. He was executed for the 1991 death of Junny Rios-Martinez of Cocoa.
Outside the prison where the execution took place, the boy's family clapped and cheered when they heard the news that Schwab had died.
More than a dozen family members wore white T-shirts with his picture on the front and with the words "JUSTICE DELAYED IS JUSTICE DENIED" across the back. Another man carried a sign that read "ROT IN HELL SCHWAB."
About 50 death penalty opponents held a brief prayer vigil, then quietly stood by about 75 yards from the family members.
Schwab was executed at the state's death chamber in Starke, which is about 40 miles southwest of Jacksonville.

I'm still waiting for Mumia Abu Jamal. Maybe someday...

I hope the Doctor watered down the morphine.

They'll never follow through with his execution, he is in California. :whatever: He should have been dead at least 20 years ago.

If you want to make sure you have a long life, get on Death Row in California. More inmates have died from natural causes there than the Chamber. By decades.

Why is he in CA when the murder happened in Philly?
Wasn't a federal crime.

Don't want to jack anymore...But..Mumia is in PA. Maureen Faulkner has moved to Cali.

:censored: liberals mourn the death of a convicted child killer, but praise doctors who kill babies. :mental:

Sorry, a sign of my sleepiness last night. You're exactly right, he's in PA. There's too much CA kookiness surrounding him though, all those "celebrities" spouting Mumia as a political prisoner.
I still don't think they'll ever execute him (as they should).

good riddance to bad rubbish. Now, let's clean up the rest of death row.

Agreed.
To quote Ron White, "Come to Texas and kill someone...and you can expect us to kill you back. While other states are fighting the death penalty, Texas has installed an express lane."

Wish other states would adopt these policies.

I love Ron White :-)

As a resident of Cocoa Fl I can say from deep in my heart, it's about ****ing time this piece of shit died for his crime. Schwab is a prime example of why convicted child molesters need some sort of special punishment for their crimes. He killed Junny a few months after being released from prison for (surprise) ****ing a little boy. All prison time taught him was to kill his next victim so he couldn't tell on him. A good castration or lobotomy is what would fix convicted child molesters like this one.
I agree with Willow. The next scumbag piece of shit I'll celebrate dying is Couey. Both of these assholes deserve a few hundred grains of lead to the back of the head for justice to be served & I'd be happy to supply the ammo and the executioner.

I'm against the death penalty, but I forget to have sympathy when it comes to those who hurt kids.
