DU has almost 213,000 users now. The size of a smallish city.

So, when folks post their vanity "I am outta here!" threads- that's probably 212,500 people or so that just really....

don't care. At all.

I do like to see our "obituaries," particularly if they were longtime members.

But, the people leaving these days? Never even heard of them- It's like saying, "hey! Do you know Steven Jones? He lives in Baltimore too!"

1. Well, you might not care

but some of them are long time posters, (like today)... and friends.

4. oh come on

you have been here long enough to know the "old time" DUers get mad every now and then and "leave." I am not breaking the rules here by naming anyone, but the most melodramatic "I am leaving FOREVER!" poster (who "left" a few times) is one of the most recognized names here.

^^^might, or might not, be referring to the dorkangel primitive.

I dunno.

5. And you are angry about that how

look, if people chose to say goodbye it is their business.

Reason umpty squat these days to question motives.

By the way, if you are going to go there, I am going to go there too. This OP of yours is just as look at me, as anything else.

Thread trashed.

2. Not really

I believe that is the total number of registrations since launch.

Yeah, it is.

Here on conservativecave however, our number excludes those who've been banned; it's a more honest number.

3. THat is total registrations, not users. I think the number of unique users is

somewhere in the 1,000-2,000 range.

but I'd say your estimate is correct.

10. That's about right

1k-2k sounds about right when you look at the most recced threads.

Actually, no.

<<<knows.

It varies of course, but usually generally most of the time it's between 3,000 and 4,000.

But even with this larger number, one wonders why the primitives don't understand why they don't count with the professional Democrats and liberals; "between 3,000 and 4,000" isn't even a dent in the 120,000,000+ voting electorate.

If dear old sweet Lu got off her ass and got involved with her own forum, membership would skyrocket.

9. wonder how many are still here and post though

I mean, couldn't that number include all of the people who ever registered even if they haven't been here for years?

If you take our moles out of the equation the DUmps numbers decrease by probably half.

More on DUmmy Lu's sweet ass.

Oh now.

Dear old sweet Lu is a senior citizen who presumes herself an elegant lady because she uses the tres chic "dinner" rather than the plebian "supper."

She's got grey hair and ties it up in a knot on top of her head, with a net around it.

She wears gingham dresses.

Dear old sweet Lu's the sort that, on her, one would call it a derriere.

Once you take out the moles and VRWC agents, of course, her number really isn't that far off...

Not to mention the requisite NSA and Secret Service agents required to log on.

Well, yeah, that, but as long as one doesn't know who the moles and Secret Service agents are, one just automatically counts them as primitives.

"umpty squat" - I can't seem to locate this phrase in the Oxford American Nadinlish Dictionary.

It almost sounds like it could be an unreleased track from Digital Underground, -authors of The Humpty Dance.

That was BadCat's invention.

It has to be exactly superimposed over Skins's island, and since the elusive enigmatic Elad is always making changes, it had to be adjusteded just about every time BadCat ran it.  It wasn't an easy or quick job.

It's a pure nadinism. We're sorely remiss in not having maintained a compilation of her unique contributions to the language.

You'd think it would be a priority to do that, but au cntrainere, it is not.

People should be upset that so many gems have been lost. They should be angry enough to start a big kerfunkle.

I have some vague memory of BadCat tweaking it for DU3 but things weren't worth the effort or something like that?

Can't remember so here's some bacon pie.

Yeah.

I felt badly for BadCat, who's one of the nicest guys one can ever hope to meet, because every time he issued new numbers, other people kept asking him, "well, run the program on this site or that site or the other site, too."

They didn't understand he couldn't do it; it was specific to Skins's island, and every time the elusive enigmatic Elad pushed an "enter" button for the least slightest little change, the whole program had to be remodeled.

What BadCat does as a public service for the Good of Humanity isn't as easy as it looks, even for BadCat.

So, it would be correct to say "Umpty squat people are enrolled and paying premiums under Obamacare."

Has there been a recent rash of prominent DUmmies leaving the hive?  DUmbass tatertots was the last one I noticed, and I believe he mostly posted goofy stuff in the lounge.

Yeah, the "taterguy" primitive; there were two threads about it, one in General Discussion started by himself, "goodbye," and a second in the Lounge started by some other primitive inquiring if he were serious.

I never knew what to make of him myself, so essentially ignored him--he was however pretty popular.

There's lots of primitives who've been leaving, not all of them announcing their departure, instead just going away silently, as if going out on an errand too unimportant to tell anybody about.

I blame it on that the primitives are mean to each other.

It disturbs me because every time one leaves, it's one less producer of inventory for the DUmpster.

Well, it just so happens that I've been working on a new version of it, one that is not so dependent on Elad's stupid code.
