Yup, Christie again. NJ shuts down Tesla showrooms.

http://autos.yahoo.com/blogs/motoramic/new-jersey-moves-to-shut-down-tesla-sales-despite-protests-183753241.html

Oh sure, the Tesla Model S may be the "best car sold in America" per Consumer Reports, and it may be a Wall Street darling and perhaps the only electric vehicles for which demand exceeds supply. But that didn't stop regulators in New Jersey from ordering Tesla to shut down its stores by April 1 because the company doesn't use dealers like every other automaker.

In a hastily called meeting packed with Tesla supporters, the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission approved several rule changes that essentially shut down Tesla's two factory-direct stores in the state — not only barring automakers from selling without dealers, but also the mall showrooms that Tesla had used in place of a traditional stand-alone dealership....

Tesla attempted to drum up support among its customers, but said in a blog that it was given less than 24 hours notice of the meeting where the commission would hold its final vote. It also accused the administration of Gov. Chris Christie of backtracking on pledges to let Tesla argue its case in the public forum of the New Jersey legislature.

So wait. I thought DUmmies championed local employment in locally-owned businesses. Brick and mortar, old, school, how-may-I-help-you, really inefficient and expensive businesses. (http://www.democraticunderground.com/10024651119)

But somehow in the case of Tesla they insist on a KKKorporate sales model of retail locations - many of which are located in...wait for it...SHOPPING MALLS. You know, those places DUmmies hate because they sell stylish things in sizes too small for LynneSin.

Lurkers: what gives? Why do you support Tesla having an unfair advantage?

I won't expect an answer, hypocrites.

All these crony capitalist "green energy" companies should be wired in parallel.
Solyndra, Tesla, Satcon (aptly named)...

All together their total energy output in the name of green energy might be a be to power a lost TV remote.

I don't have a problem with Tesla per se. I think it's funny that the morons can't afford a Volt, let alone a 100k car. Wonder if kpete has one yet? I may have to run by her palace to see.

New Jersey is a state that will not allow you to pump your own gas, this is just another forced employment scheme.

Posting as a somewhat normal person, and not just a "DUmmy", I'd question why such laws exist in the first place.  I'd want to know the rational behind them before I say either way, because at first glance they appear to be a way to prevent a form of creative destruction from destroying an industry. I'm not in favor of saving outdated businesses that cannot compete.  Again, if I'm missing some key points, I'd be happy to hear them.

I couldn't care less how cars are distributed. If Chevrolet wants to set up in a mall next to Orange Julius, that's fine. But you see, that practice SHOULD be abhorred by the DUmmies: they hate any business that tends to reduce employment relative to their 1950's ideal (yet they call themselves progressives) of Mom and Pop outfits for everything. DUmmies want to go to a separate store for everything, pay too much, and waste time.

Auto dealers employ a lot of people, at least some of whom (mechanics) tend to be unionized (especially in union-primate heavy areas, like Chicago). Mechanics, finance managers, salespeople, back office support, and so on. One dealership may well employ 50 people, and in fact some employ over 100. Yet somehow, quizzically, in the case of Tesla, DUmmies MUCH prefer storefronts that employ just a couple of people.

That is utterly counter to their philosophy, so the question is this: WHY? I SUSPECT it has something to do with the notion that Teslas run on electric power, so anything Tesla does is not only rationalizable, but CORRECT. "Honey, the Tesla salesman at the mall says you need to remove your top and fellate him before he'll sell us a car. That seems a rather small price to pay for a car that runs on electric power, wouldn't you say? Golly, the folks on DU will be so jealous! And you get the joy of having a strange man ejaculate in your mouth!"

Another theory might be that DUmmies perceive laws against storefronts as inherently pro-Big Three, but that doesn't make any sense, either. DUmmies hold the Big Three in special esteem because they employ large numbers of union-primates. The DUmmies may insist that it's simply local "freeper" politicians who are standing in Tesla's way, but that wouldn't happen without a strong lobby from car dealers. Yet who is supporting car dealers with elaborate financing and subsidy? Exactly: the Big Three.

On the other hand, one could reasonably argue that Teslas don't exactly compete with American automakers, since Teslas are (a) all electric, (b) very expensive, and (c) currently NOT assembled by primates who pay union dues. This muddies the argument even more: why does DU put Tesla on such a high pedestal, when their cars are made for the 1% and aren't put together by people who are well-known for getting drunk and high at lunchtime?

The only explanation that makes any sense is that DUmmies are enthralled with any contraption that runs on electric power, whether they can afford it or not. This fascination of theirs clouds their already-shaky sense of logic and proportion: why are they so enamored with Teslas when just a year or so ago they bemoaned the exorbitant price of a Chevy Volt?

In the end, asking a DUmmy to be consistent and logical is simply a bridge too far. It is why we call them DUmmies. We love them for it; we loathe them for it.

They support Tesla for the same reasons they do for any of their "causes" It's trendy and they think it'll make them part of the in crowd.  Their egos are extremely delicate so it's best to just go along with what everyone else is doing.  See hating Walmart, loving terrible vegan food, etc...

Remember one of TiT's myriad of multimillionaire Tiburon friends loaned him a Tesla prototype several years ago.

He claimed it cost her somewhere around two hundred thousand dollars.

TiT said he drove it over a winding California mountain road at more than 130 mph, and pronounced it a fine vehicle.

So it must be good.

I'm surprised he was willing to get out of his Lamborghini. Or his Mercedes. Or whatever Liemobile he claimed to have.

I have never been to England but that sounds like the way England was described to me 35 years ago. You went to the green grocer for fruits and vegetables, to the butcher shop for meat, to the hardware store for light bulbs, to the pharmacy for any personal hygiene items, etc.....waste of time.

TiT lies kept the DUmp afloat during the the years before nadin took over.

29. I have been working so hard...

I have long fingers (octave-six). I can place the little finger of my left hand on "shift" on the left side and my thumb on "2" on the right side.

Not the point. It's the hypocrisy they constantly display. Like Banned stated, I couldn't care less if they were factory direct, bought from a dealership, or a big ass vending machine outside the Mickey D's.

BS. I doubt if pro basketball players have hands that big.  I have to use both hands and put my thumbs tip to tip to comfortably span that distance.

Well what do you know, I can almost reach from shift on the left to the "2" on the right with one hand...just one key off.....how does a fellow measure his penis using the keyboard?

I bet the DUmmie's penis won't even reach from shift to ESC on the left side.

TiT's finger size. Talk about a dog whistle. The whistle is the implication that he has a massive dong.

The dog, of course, is CalPeg.
